But if they go offensive before City scored, they would have opened too much space. It was only after City scored when space was opened because City started defending like crazy, something they never do. City became extremely nervous and did something they never do, get a full defensive shape right in their own half
That's true, lol. Who'd have thought we'd ever see a Pep team parking the bus.
Reminds me of something I saw on The Ultimate Fighter, years and years ago. For those that don't know TUF is a reality show for MMA fighters, and the top prize is a guaranteed contract with the UFC. One year the president of the UFC, Dana White, appeared on the show and went on a huge rant about fights being boring and how the fighters didn't want it. Personally I always saw it as the opposite, they wanted it so much they didn't wanna risk it. Sure some of the losers also got contracts, but it was never guaranteed they would, and they weren't as good moneywise. Why would they risk losing, or even just getting injured, doing something flashy, when they can just lay n pray the dude for two rounds and go through safely?
Exactly, its too much of a risk to try and do something different, extravagant in big games or events like these, most will just stick to the basics, even Pep did, lol.

His Majesty's Revenue & Customs has lodged a winding-up petition against Wigan Athletic over unpaid tax bills, with a hearing date of 26 July.

It follows the English Football League placing the Latics under a transfer embargo last week for breaching league rules on tax payment.
Wigan will begin the League One season after relegation with an eight-point deduction for late payment of salaries.

It also understood money is outstanding from last month's salary payments.

The club has said it is in the process of being sold but one of the interested parties, 21-year-old businessman Sarbjot Johal, failed to gain EFL approval for his proposed purchase of Morecambe earlier this year.

Winding-up petitions can be resolved by payment of debt or by arrangement of a payment plan with the creditor, in this case HMRC itself.
Wigan may be about to go bye bye

Don't normally like to double post but this seemed like a wild story:

Bordeaux will not be promoted from Ligue 2 after French football's governing body handed them a loss for an abandoned match with Rodez.

The game on 2 June was called off when Rodez goalscorer Lucas Buades was pushed over by a pitch invader.
The LFP's decision means Bordeaux finished third, while Rodez avoided relegation at the expense of Annecy.

Bordeaux have said they plan to appeal the decision to the French Olympic Committee.

They have also been docked a point for next season and ordered to close their south stand for four games, with two of those suspended.

Bordeaux had to better Metz's result in the final round of matches to win promotion and Rodez needed a victory as they sought to avoid relegation.

Buades was attacked as he celebrated giving his side the lead and was removed on a stretcher.

The referee abandoned the game, saying the midfielder had suffered a concussion injury.

Metz beat Bastia 3-2 to move into second place and will now be promoted alongside champions Le Havre.

Single push took out an entire fucking club lel. This is doubly retarded because it was only 25 minutes into the game, and it was already a fucking long shot (they needed to win by 5), so why not at least give your guys a chance.

Since I'm already doubleposting I figured I'd throw in a few other tidbits that happened after my previous post. First up is Mbappe has apparently officially told PSG he won't sign a new deal meaning they have to sell him over the summer or he goes for free next year. Secondly Qatari press (including a paper partly owned by the buyer's dad) are reporting that the Qatari bid for United has been accepted, and an announcement is due later this week.

Oh, yeah, snow covered trees in the background. In June.

Anyone remembers his predictions for the 22/23 season?

Italy: 1+2 the clubs from Mailand, 3rd Juve, 4th AS Rome or Napoli
0/4

England: ManCity, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs
The oblious one correct, the rest lol

Germany: FC Bayern, Dortmund, Leipzig, Leverkusen
3 out 4 correct

France: PSG, rest don't know
1/1

Spain: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, one of the two clubs from Sevilla
1/ with Atletico placing 3rd

Super hot take: one Bundesliga club will be retarded enough to bring back Florian Kohfeldt as coach and it will be Hertha BSC
Wow, Hertha even fucked up my cool super hot take :(

I’m kinda looking forward to watching this Croatia vs Spain final in the Nothing league.

So yeah, yesterday Brazil had a crappy friendly match against Guinea. They played the first half in an all-black attire to show support to Vinícius Jr. and combat racism. I'm sure the spanish contingent that didn't even fill Espanyol's stadium to watch this travesty appreciated it.

Prior to the kickoff. a reporter got handed a banana and got told something like "This is a gun where you come from."

Germany had 3 friendlies over the last few days.

The 1000th DFB match against Ukraine ended 3:3 after Kimmich scoring the equalizer in the very last minutes of the game through a penalty, we then lost 1:0 to Poland and yesterday we lost 2:0 against Columbia.

The Euro Cup next year is in Germany btw lol

Ruben Neves has made his move official to Saudi Arabia killing the rumor (for now) that Saudi Arabia is partly running Chelsea as well as Newcastle

Rafa Benitez is now the manager of Celta Vigo

Fabio Carvalho is going to RB Leipzig on loan

Bournemouth have signed Justin Kluivert from Roma

Di Maria looks set to sign a 1 year deal at Benfica, moving back to the club where it started for him in Europe

Despite finishing 7th in La Liga last year, Osasuna have been banned from competing in this year's Europa Conference League. This is from a match fixing scandal from back in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons. Both of these were to try and keep Osasuna in La Liga but they were relegated at the end of the 2013/14 season

West Ham want Arsenal to submit their final bid to end the saga. City are still interested but Rice apparently prefers Arsenal (for some reason)

Koulibaly lasted 1 season in England, with his move to Saudi Arabia complete

Caicedo appears to be moving from Brighton to Chelsea, as that pipeline has resulted in nothing but success

Brozovic is being wanted by both Saudi Arabia and Barcelona. With Inter still in massive debt, seems like they are willing to sell

Manchester United are pushing for Onana as their new gk to replace De Gea

Inter Miami have signed Sergio Busquets to play alongside Messi.

Chelsea rejected the third bid from United for Mason Mount. the 50 mil plus 5 million pound add on move was rejected with Chelsea wanting 58 mil plus 7 million in add ons

Marcus Thuram to Inter

West Ham are looking to sign Denis Zakaria to replace Rice. He is still on the books at Juve after Chelsea decided not to buy him

Cesar Azpilicueta is expected to leave Chelsea for Inter Milan

Chelsea have rejected a 7 million pound loan offer for Lukaku and Chelsea rejected it

Rice is a good player but he's not worth what West Ham is asking for.

Same thing as above.
Marcus Thuram to Inter
Milan spent a good while negotiating with him only to get cucked by their biggest rival in the end. That's gotta sting.

Rice is a good player but he's not worth what West Ham is asking for.
Of course he is. The best part about the Premier League is that even bottom of the table clubs are earning enough money to not really NEED to sell any players at the end of the season. West Ham don't need to sell him so of course they'll stick a whatever price on him if a team wants to come and buy him.

Well, its this and also City setting a bad precedent by paying a big fee for Grealish, now every English club will want a big fee for whatever good player they have.

Another round of updates

Rabiot is about to extend his contract at Juve. A one year renewal

City have officially bid for Rice. 80 mil plus 10 mil add ons

RC Lens Seko Fofana has agreed to a transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. Seems like they are now filling the ranks with up and coming players instead of over the hill talent

Jaden Sancho is rumored to leave United this summer

A 100 mil bid from PSG for Osimhen has been rejected

Arda Guler from Fenerbahce is rumored to be wanted by Arsenal, Newcastle, and Real Madrid

Loftus-Cheek has been sold to AC Milan for 16 mil plus 4 mil in add ons

Fee agreed by Al-Nassr for Brozovic

Good enough for now

Champions League is kind of back today. San Marino's Tre Penne x Iceland's Breidablik going on right now.
City have officially bid for Rice. 80 mil plus 10 mil add ons
Rejected already. It seems they really want the full price or the closest to it.

The earliest of qualifiers. Just a reminder, every champion of a Uefa member league gets into the Champions League. Its your co-efficient that determines how early you enter the competition

Yeah. And it looks like it will be negotiated between Arsenal and West Ham since Man City said they won't match Arsenal's bid

Other news
Kovacic signed with City and is their new number 8
Pirlo is the new manager of Sampdoria

Palmeiras star Giovani will leave the club now for 9 mil. The 19 year old is going to Qatar
Vicario has signed for tottenham. Spurs paid 19 mil to Empoli for the signing

Firmino to Al-Alhi on a 3 year deal

Sead Kolasinac will sign for Atalanta

Celtic's Jota, a 24 year old, is in talks to sign with Al-Ittihad

Jurrien Timber to Arsenal from Ajax for 40.5 mil

Mason Mount to united for 60 million pounds. This brings Chelsea's outgoing transfer spend to 208.8 million pounds which is impressive considering how much they spent

Arda Guler from Fenerbache is basically wanted by a ton of big clubs in Europe. Madrid and Barca are battling for his signature

Pau Torres to Aston Villa from Villareal

Lucas Hernandez from Bayern to PSG

Timothy Weah to Juventus. A penny for @Hüftpriester thoughts

Brozovic to Barcelona potentially
