In the EFL Championship, Stoke City's Lewis Baker scored an incredible halfway line goal against Swansea in a near carbon copy of what Charlie Adam scored at Stamford Bridge nearly a decade ago.

Manchester United's next five fixtures:
  • Everton (Away)
  • Ipswich (Home)
  • Fulham (Home - FA Cup)
  • Arsenal (Home)
  • Leicester (Away)
Everton are in fantastic form under Moyes, Ipswich are fighting for survival and have shown they can take it from the apparent "Big Six" head to head. Whereas Fulham are looking to reach the Quarter-Finals's for the first time since 2010! On the tail end, it's a Arsenal side who may have Saka back and well, Leicester exists. Most will deflect and say that it's the injuries that have them playing this poorly, but we all know otherwise. The very core, the foundation of United has been rotten to the core for sometime and no mercenary from aboard is going to amend it.

Tottenham's next five fixtures:
  • Ipswich (Away)
  • Manchester City (Home)
  • Bournemouth (Home)
  • Fulham (Away)
  • Chelsea (Away)
As mentioned, Ipswich are doing whatever they can to survive. I rather they stay up over Wolves. Spurs often have City's number at home, may that tradition continue. Tottenham will than have to handle high flying Bournemouth before a double visit to West London with Fulham and Chelsea. Again, injuries can be blamed by some here. But the reality is that with the amount of leads and matches lost upon scoring first just makes me think of my own damn team. Defensive errors are plaguing this side.

Realistically both United and Spurs, the apparent backend of the "Big Six" could lose all these encounters right now. That's the state of them right now.

Not a good night for Italian football with those results. Could see the ranking suffer tenfold if PSV take out Juventus tomorrow too.

Two take-aways from yesterday's CL night:

1. I can't decide which red card is more stupid. The one against AC Milan very likely cost them moving on to the next round but the one against Atalanta was such an embarrassing display of braindead dumbfuckery that Toloi better ends his career.

2. I'll take back what I said about the Bayern vs Leverkusen match last weekend. Absolutely horrible display of Bayern in the last two matches.
They announced before the match against Leverkusen that they signed Musiala for another few years. His new contract makes him the most expensive Bayern player ever. Since then Bayern had their weakest performance since 30 years or so with only two shots on target in 90 minutes and Bayern were on the brink of handling Celtic a historic win bc Celtic has never won a single match in European competition on German soil while being kicked out of CL before the round of 16 which would also have been a historic event bc the last time Bayern couldn't reach the round of 16 in CL was like 500 years ago or so.

1 zillion unbeaten matches at home streak vs Kolo Muani on fire. Probably going to watch this match tonight.

PSV had leveled Juventus, but a VAR goal allows Juve to draw level in the match (and one goal ahead in aggregate). Still ~25 minutes left as I write this, but it's an enjoyable game. I'm sure watching Mbappe single-handedly destroy Man City is good too. Feels like a better slate of games tonight.

Edit to add: PSV ahead again around 75'; if it stands it would go to extra time and then if necessary, penalties.
Second edit: In extra time, PSV score and knock Juventus and Serie A out of the Euros. Meanwhile, PSG beat Brest 7-0, Dortmund bore the world 0-0 (winning 3-0 on aggregate) and Mbappe beats Man City 3-1.

In November Christian Ilzer left Sturm Graz to become new coach of TSG Hoffenheim. He won his first game against RB Bull but lost the 2nd game against Mainz.

German newspaper BILD now revealed that before the 3rd match against Freiburg Ilzer held a motivational speech, wearing a chef's hat, showing pepperonis and reminding his team to became "as hot as the spice" and showing a dildo and saying his team needs to be "as hard as this".

BILD was so friendly to recreate the moment with AI.

Hoffenheim played 1:1 against Freiburg.

Champions League Round of 16 just dropped in:

Benfica vs. Barcelona
Borussia Dortmund vs. Lille
Bayern Munich vs. Bayer Leverkusen
Feyenoord vs. Internazionale
PSV vs. Arsenal
Real Madrid vs. Atlético de Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain vs. Liverpool
Club Brugge vs Aston Villa

P$G versus Liverpool, derby el madrileno plus FC Bayern versus Leverkusen.

The quarter finals will be:
1740137845260.png
P$G/Liverpool - Brugge/Aston Villa
Eindhoven/Arsenal - Real Madrid/Atletico Madrid
Benfica/Barcelona - Dortmund/Lille
FC Bayern/Leverkusen - Feyernoord/Inter Milan

The semi finals will be:

Eindhoven/Arsenal/Real Madrid/Atletico Madrid - P$G/Liverpool/Brugge/Aston Villa
Benfica/Barcelona/Dortmund/Lille - FC Bayern/Leverkusen/Feyernoord/Inter Milan

So it's FC Bayern versus Leverkusen again.
1. Since Alonso took over in Leverkusen Bayern weren't able to beat them. Last season the first match ended 2:2 and the second one Bayern lost in Leverkusen 3:0.
This season Bayern dominated the first match but it ended 1:1. They then met in DFB cup and despite Manuel Neuer seeing his very first red card ever very early in the match Bayern was once again the dominating team but in the end they lost 1:0 and got kicked out. The second match in Bundesliga last weekened was an absolute horror show for FC Bayern as they got dominated, humilated and exposed by Leverkusen which led to a historical bad FC Bayern match. Only two shots on target. That happened like 70000 years ago (30 something years actually).
2. This champions league season the final will be played at FC Bayern's home in Munich. Playing and winning a CL final in your home turf is probably the biggest dream a European club can have and FC Bayern already had a "Finale dahoam" (final at home) in the past - which they lost. Back then in the 2011/12 season. Remember that header by Didier Drogba in the last minutes of the game which brought Chelsea and equalizer? I sure do bc that header was one fucking force of nature and I also won't forget the tv pictures of the Bayern fans leaving their stadion in dead silence.

So now imagine Leverkusen kicks out FC Bayern of champions league and fucks up their dreams of finally winning a CL final in their home. After them already kicking out Bayern of DFB cup - which they haven't won since the 2019/20 season I think and since then only got bullied in the DFB cup. FC Bayer is right now 8 points ahead of Leverkusen in Bundesliga. That's 3 loses for Bayern and three wins for Leverkusen to take over and defend their league championship. Now imagine this actually happens and FC Bayern not only gets kicked out of DFB cup and champions league by Leverkusen but also loses the league once again to them.

Then a new arch enemy for the FC Bayern will be born and the last time this happened it was followed by the dark ages for Bundesliga fans. Bc after Bayern had slayed their arch enemy their reign of terror started with them winning Bundesliga e l e v e n times in a row - and 5 DFB cups and 2 champions league titles by the way and them also dominating the German super cup which nobody cares about but still.

You know when FC Bayern's reign of terror started? Correct. After they lost the CL final at home in 2012.
You know what else happened in 2012? FC Bayern's arch enemy won the Bundesliga for the 2nd time in a row. And the DFB cup.
You know who was the last arch enemy of FC Bayern? Correct. Borussia Dortmund.
You know what happened to Dortmund since they dared to challenge the FC Bayern for the undisputed crown of German football? This happened:

May God have mercy on our souls*.

*Not on Leverkusener souls tho bc fuck them, I don't like them.

Englands returns in this cup are pretty poor, Spurs (who didnt make it past the groups), Leicester (fresh off an FA Cup or around then) and Villa all failed

Personally I want to see Fiorentina lose the final for a third season in a row

Burnley haven't conceded a goal for 12 games straight, putting their total for the season at a Championship record 25 clean sheets. If they get 3 more clean sheets in their remaining 12 games, they will break the English Football League record.

1740177109551.png
Yes, they've only conceded 9 goals in 34 games. On this pace, they will break multiple records. Remember the Premier League record in a 38 game season seems unbeatable at 15 goals.

Officially hate this format. I don't want to watch a playoff round and round of 16 ties that are just mimicking domestic league's. If I wanted to watch PSG vs Brest, I will stream snipe whichever sap decides to make a deal with the French League. If I wanted to watch the Madrid Derby, I will watch the La Liga match up between them. If I wanted to watch Leverkusen and Bayern battle to a draw, I will wait for their match ups in the Bundesliga. The point of Champions League is to see which club teams from each country is the best. The earliest a match against someone from your own country should happen is the quarter finals, where it might just be how the tournament set out. This new format is complete and utter bullshit and they are ruining their product

They are saving themselves for an eventual return to the Premier League, where they will get trounced every other round and return unceremoniously to the Championship.
