Burnley haven't conceded a goal for 12 games straight, putting their total for the season at a Championship record 25 clean sheets. If they get 3 more clean sheets in their remaining 12 games, they will break the English Football League record.

Yes, they've only conceded 9 goals in 34 games. On this pace, they will break multiple records. Remember the Premier League record in a 38 game season seems unbeatable at 15 goals.
Manchester City sold this lad for next to nothing and now it's reported that he is the number one target for Newcastle.

I spoke about it a few pages back in this thread, but City pulling a Chelsea and offloading the academy lads for foreign mercs is going to haunt them over the next few years.

Salah has broken 50 G+A in all competitions for 24/25. Surely the only thing that could stop him from winning the Ballon d'Or at this point is a major capitulation by Liverpool?

He broke Burnley's transfer record at nearly £20m for a 20 year old City reserve keeper. That's crazy money. He's the third most expensive British goalkeeper in history.

They made the right choice obviously but it definitely cost them.

Alright, I am bored so its time to give you guys some obscure races in leagues you may or may not be paying attention to for informational purposes.

Portugal-
Sporting and Benfica are currently tied on 53 points for the league. Sporting are out of all cup competitions while Benfica are in Champions League and the Portuguese cup. Benfica still have to play Porto on/around April 6th and then Braga on the final match day. Both Sporting and Benfica play each other on the second to last match day.
Porto and Braga are tied on 47 points which determines who goes into Europa League and Conference League.
Porto are out of all cup competitions and play Braga March 9th and Benfica April 6th. Braga are still in the Portuguese cup and have to play Porto, Benfica, and Sporting before the end of the season.

Netherlands
Ajax are leading the league with 57 points, PSV on 52 points, and Feyenoord, Alkmaar, and Utrecht on 43 points. Twente is on 42 and realistically, Go Ahead Eagles on 35 points will be the only other one who could potentially catch a European place. The only interesting part going on right now is Van Persie moving to Feyenoord in 3rd from Heerenveev in 9th on 27 points. Heerenveen were presumably in a race with Feyenoord, among others, for a spot in Europe before picking up 3 points in their last 5 games. Considering Van Persie was probably in negotiations with Feyenoord for a little while, one might speculate foul play with the line ups.

Spain

Real Madrid and Barcelona tied with 54 points and Atletico Madrid 1 point behind. Barcelona still have to play Atletico and Real Madrid while the Madrid derby only happens in the Champions League (and maybe Copa Del Rey). But the interesting team here is Bilbao. They are sitting in 4th but 6 points back from Barcelona and they have to play all 3 teams ahead of them. They do have to travel to Madrid for both of those games but they are at home to Barcelona on the final day. But Bilbao also need to fend off Villarreal, who are in 5th place. Spain are not guaranteed a 5th spot in the Champions League so holding off Villarreal is key as well. Villareal have to travel to Barcelona on the second to last match day, but will host Real Madrid and, more importantly, Bilbao in the coming months. Two other races in Spain that are interesting is the race for Europe and the relegation battle. Currently 6th place Rayo Vallecano on 35 points holds the last spot for Europe (assuming no 5th champions league spot) but they are tied on points with Betis and Mallorca, 1 point ahead of Sociedad, 3 points ahead of Celta Vigo, Sevilla, and Osasuna, with both Girona on 31 points and Getafe on 30 points still within theoretical striking distance. As for relegation, Valladolid on 15 points looks all but relegated. However the last 2 spots are up for grabs. Currently Alaves on 22 points and Valencia on 23 occupy those spots but Las Palmas is tied on points with Valencia and Leganes with 24 and Espanyol with 27 points aren't that far away. Getafe on 30 seem safe but 2 bad results for them could put them in the conversation.

I will end it with Italy for now, but I will get bored again soon

Inter are top of the league right now with a 1 point lead over Napoli, although Napoli will host them on March 1st for something that can really decide the title race. With no Champions League to worry about, Atalanta being 3 points behind Inter make them a third but very real title contender this season. Juventus have opened up a 2 point gap over Lazio for the final Champions League spot (49 and 47 points) but Juventus are still 8 points off Inter at the top. Fiorentina, Milan, Bologna, and Roma are all in a race for the Conference League position next season with the teams on 42, 41, 41, and 40 points. At the bottom of the table, Monza and Venezia on 14 and 17 points look pretty much relegated. Empoli are in 18th with 21 points and 2 points away from Parma in a safety spot. Lecce and Cagliari are on 25 points so they appear safe along with Verona on 26 and Como on 28 points. So the Title, Champions League, and European spots are the only real races so far for Serie A

Why are German newspaper reporting that the boss of Man United is cancelling the food for his employees? What's going on at ManU? Are they broke now?
Pretty much. Apparently they're right near the threshold for maximum allowable losses under PSR, so he's desperately trying to cut costs. Also doing another big round of redundancies.

After losing 5:0 to Freiburg last weekend Bundesliga club Werder Bremen just lost their DFB cup quarter final against 3rd tier club Arminia Bielefeld.

Tomorrow is the last quarter final with Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig.
Wolfsburg only played 1:1 against Bochum (16th) while Leipzig only played 2:2 against Heidenheim (17th).

10+ years of terrible spending, not winning, and making terrible decisions eventually catches up to you

History has been made yesterday on the Libertadores final qualifier.

Once a powerhouse not only in Argentina, but in all of South America and the World, Boca Juniors has been eliminated at home to Alianza Lima, who is historically a sitting duck in international competitions.

Ever since Juan Román Riquelme was elected president, Boca has been nothing but shambles. Imagine being eliminated in the Libertadores to a Peruvian side, at home, and one that has old man Pirata Barcos as their main striker.

Given all the cost cutting United are doing I have a new suggestion: We fire Onana and leave the net empty. Saves us £120k a week and can't do any worse than keeping him.

RB Leipzig won 1:0 thanks to some shady handplay penalty. There were like 10 minutes in total where it looked like an actual football match, the rest was so fucking dreadful. I hate football and I hate these two clubs in particular.

Did I see Cavani miss a sitter in this game or was that a previous game?

The DFB courts ruled once again in favor of VfL Bochum and awareded them a win over Union Berlin. Before their ruling they kicked Heidenheim and St. Pauli out of the process and told them in a nicely way to fuck off and not bother again.

Context: Back in December Bochum played against Union Berlin in Berlin and in the last minutes of the game and the match being 1:1 a fan of Union Berlin threw a firelighter and hit Bochum's goalkeeper in the head. After a 20 minute long break the ref decided that the match must continue. Bochum had to play with one player less bc they had already used all of their substitions. Both teams agreed on a "peace treaty" and were just passing around the ball for the last few minutes. After the match Bochum announced that they will persue legal action against the ref's decision. In the 1st hearing they got awarded the win but Union Berlin disputed this.
Technically Union Berlin can again dispute the ruling in a higher court but it's unlikely that they will achieve anything in their favor.

With the two extra points now Bochum has 17 points and climbs on rank 16 with Heidenheim (15 points) being 17th and Kiel (13 points) being 18th.
St. Pauli is 15th with being 4 points ahead of Bochum.

The fan who threw the firelighter got identified later, got a total 3 year ban from visiting any football match and it's likely that he will be sued by Union Berlin and lose and then has to cover for all the legal costs and shit.
