Can't believe we have posters in here who happily tell us about German football (which I do enjoy, so thanks), only to have to find this in A+N instead:

Step up your game krautposters,

Couple of interesting stories I came across
1)The president of la Liga has apparently grassed up City to the fucking EU :https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c0rzzpnqywqo
La Liga president Javier Tebas says he has reported Manchester City to the European Commission for alleged breaches of rules relating to state-owned companies.

Tebas - a long-standing critic of City - told media at the FT Business of Football Summit that the complaint was made in 2023.

He said he believed the case was currently in an "investigation phase" by the European Commission - the executive body of the European Union which develops and enforces laws for its member states.

2)Mourinho is suing Galatasaray for $50k after they claimed he made racist statements:https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c4g037jl80ko
Galatasaray said they would "initiate criminal proceedings" against Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho after claiming he made "racist statements" following the teams' 0-0 draw on Monday.

It was not clear which statements Galatasaray were referring to.

Speaking in the news conference after the Istanbul derby, Mourinho said the home bench had been "jumping like monkeys" and also repeated his criticism of Turkish referees, saying it would have been a "disaster" to use an official from the country.

Monday's match was refereed by Slovenian Slavko Vincic after both clubs requested a foreign official take charge of the fixture.

As well as the threat of legal action, Galatasaray said they would submit "official complaints" to football's governing bodies.

This is a nothing burger. La Liga needs to sort out their own league with Real Madrid bitching before trying to investigate Man City

Galatasaray fucked up. They took his quote out of context and he should be suing them. There is like half a continent of Africans who would come to Mourinho's defense in any case of racism

8 out of 9 matches played on this Bundesliga matchday, 8 wins for the away teams. What the fuck is happening?

Edit: Last match ended 0:0. Would the away team have won it would have been a historic matchday with only wins and all of them for the away teams which has never happened before in Bundesliga.

I'm not asking for much in life but I swear to God if Brugge and Feyernoord make it to the next round I completely mark out for them.

Atletico is going to kick out Real. Watch it happen. 1:1 today and next week Atletico is going to beat the shit out of Real in the Metropolitano. It's going to be a massacre.

Edit:
Amazing. I got 3/4 wrong and the one where I got something right was only the general outcome, not the exact one bc why fuck would I bet on a 7:1 for Arsenal (I was betting on a 4:0).

- Villa will move on, there is no way Brugge is going to get a 3:0 or 4:1 or something like this.
- Arsenal can chill the next game but that was what probably everybody expected, even the PSV players.
- Never bet on Dortmund, they will always let you down.
- Atletico can still pull it off. I keep believing. I refuse to stop believing.

What happened with Leverkusen today? I had Leverkusen to the semifinal in my predictions *sigh*

Bayern came out as possessed men, and Leverkusen looked like they thought they could just roll them again. Kane moved around like he was 10 years younger. Leverkusen also got a red (2 yellows) on two separate stupid moves by Mukiele.

So the Arsenal vs PSV, Inter vs Feyenoord, and bayern vs leverkusen ties are basically over. The Villa vs Brugge is probably over as well but you never know with that one. Liverpool and Barcelona are in good positions right now with their away leg wins but I wouldn't count out Benfica and PSG. The Madrid derby and the Dortmund vs Lille games are easily the most watchable games in the second leg

Yeah, that's over. Not mad that Feyernoord lost and I don't hate Inter but I like Feyernoord more and them kicking out both teams from Milano would have been a nice little story.

Could have ended even worse for Leverkusen. Bayern could have won 4:0 or 5:0, no, they should have won. That Sane solo late in the match and the Palinha shot near the end are 100% goals in 9 out of 10 matches. And Leverkusen went into the match with 5 guys being on their 2nd yellow card, the 3rd one would have benched them for the next game.

Anyways, tonight is Ajax Amsterdam versus Eintracht Frankfurt in the Euro League and I fear the worst. Our last two league matches were against Bayern and Leverkusen and we lost 4:0 and 4:1. Yeah ok, it's ok to lose to both of them but it wasn't even close in any of these two matches. Out of our last six league matches we only won one match and that was against Kiel, an absolute must-win bc their are 18th. We lost two matches (Bayern and Leverkusen) and only tied the other three. Marmoush leaving for Man City may have filled our pockets but it left a huge gap in the squad. Marmoush is still our top scorer! He is still two goals ahead of Ekitike and Etikite has already five matches more (Ekitike has 13, Marmoush 15). The next in line is Can Uzun with f o u r goals.

All the while Ajax has climbed back at the top of the Eridevisie.

You will never be as cool as Segundo Castillo, Barcelona de Guayaquil's coach who trounced Corinthians last night.

Marmoush is an absolute talent. He was still #2 in scoring in the Bundesliga for this season until this past week (Schick just passed him), and this in spite of the fact Marmoush was over with Man City since the winter break. I feel the pain in losing him.

Some other interesting bits from the Leverkusen - Bayern match:
Xabi played their "also #1" (ie #2) goalie. Which was working ok until he let a catch drop behind him... which Musiala tapped in for goal #2 of the game.
Kane got his 13th penalty scored (on 13 tries) for goal #3. The penalty was a pretty blatant rugby-esque tackle on Kane in the box.
Manuel Neuer apparently injured himself away from the play, possibly celebrating goal #2, which caused a delay as Bayern's next goalie wasn't warmed up... who turned out to be 21 year old Jonas Urbig (signed over the break from 2. Bundesliga Köln). Apparently Sven Ulreich was also on the roster, but he didn't even suit up and was watching from the stands until Neuer's injury, after which he did suit up and join the team. The defense tightened up and Urbig didn't have a save, but was pressured just a bit. Expect more next week. (Bayern's previous #2, Daniel Peretz, is still recovering from a kidney injury, and their other #2, Alexander Nubel, is still on loan with Stuttgart.) Apparently this injury will cause Neuer to miss the next 3 games, if the headline I saw was correct. Could be an interesting game in Leverkusen.

Big respect, I honestly think Managers should have to wear suits in the touchline and players should arrive in suits for Cup games as a sign of respect. They used to, not even 10 years ago now all of them wear branded trash!

Nah, the suit-ification of sports was a mistake. Made it corpo and gay.
I miss coaches in oversized nylon track suits.

I don't follow the MLS and today I learned what a clown show it is.

I have heard some people say that players are bigger than clubs, but Messi is bigger than his league, he has more fans than his league, he turned a 3 year old team into the most famous club of its country, maybe even of Concacaf. (MLS teams culture is forced, their history is non existent, their names are just copies, [Houston Dynamo, Real Salt Lake what are those lol] nothing happens if you finish last place, they want to leave the US cup because of their schedule after making up the Leagues cup, and their league title literally being a knockout tournament too).
All of Concacaf and some of Conmebol have similar problems too anyways.

Its been a clown show for a while. MLS is trying to grow into something bigger but there are 2 different philosophies that are constantly fighting against each other. The desire to continue what they have been doing in signing aging stars to try and boost the league is coming up against teams looking to sign younger talent from smaller leagues before they take off. The league has no real identity, a terrible schedule, and nobody cares by the end of the season. The playoffs and championship takes place during the middle of the NFL season and European leagues have started up by the time the playoffs even start to become interesting. Theres way too many teams and way too many games to be interesting

Also, they signed an exclusivity deal in the US with Apple TV of all fucking things. I don't know anyone, except the most die hard of fans, who would pay for Apple TV just to watch MLS.

We had some fucking awesome Bundesliga matches today in the conference.

Wolfsburg vs St. Pauli (1:1) being the only boring and not interesting match. Kiel vs Stuttgart played 2:2 which came as a little surprise given that Kiel is 17th and Stuttgart became vice champions last season and played Champions League this season.

Then we had FC Bayern vs Bochum, Dortmund vs Augsburg and Leverkusen vs Bremen and all three home teams lost.

Bayern gave away a 2:0 lead after Palinha saw a red card. That's Bayern's only 2nd home loss to Bochum ever. It was Bayern's first league match after their official 125 year anniversary and they were playing in an extra anniversary kit and between the two fan groups exists an official fan friendship so they all put up some huge coreagraphies before the match which makes the loss a little bit more hilarious. Also during the week in the match against Leverkusen Neuer got injured and is out for a few weeks so FC Bayern started with their new goalkeeper Urbig whom they bought during the winter transfer window from Cologne and he will play in the re-match against Leverkusen again this week.

Leverkusen lost 0:2 to Bremen. Bremen lost all of their last 5 matches and got kicked out of DFB cup against a 3rd tier team so nobody saw that coming. Bremen even got scratched two goals bc for offside so their win could have been higher. Leverkusen lost not only the match but their talent Wirtz who got switched in after the half time break and got injured after 8 minutes and he will miss the re-match against FC Bayern in Champions League.

Dortmund once again showed that they fucking sucked and lost to freaking Augsburg 0:1. They actually scored the equalizer at some point but again, offside. While Augsburg got even two goals cancelled for offside. Augsburg now tied Dortmund with both teams having 35 points.

I like MLS as well (I was at the first MLS All-Star game in 1996) but not enough to get Apple TV. I do miss channel surfing and having NY Red Bulls, NYC, and Philadelphia Union on local channels.
