Don’t feel sorry for them, no need to devils advocate a club like benfica being the biggest fanbase in Portugal they have the media propaganda machine on their side. Truth or not they are being eaten out by the same machine they use against other clubs domestically, it is truly poetic. House search initiated and forensic examination ordered: The Cologne public prosecutor's office is investigating amateur referee Pascal Kaiser.

The scene deeply moved the packed Rhein-Energie Stadium. On January 30, shortly before the match between 1. FC Köln and VFL Wolfsburg, amateur referee Pascal Kaiser grabbed the microphone and proposed to his boyfriend Moritz on the field in front of 50,000 fans. The 27-year-old became known as the referee who was initially outed involuntarily but then dealt openly with his sexuality.

“Normally, I make decisions in a fraction of a second. Today is different,” Kaiser said in the stadium. “Today is about a decision that I have thought very, very carefully about.” Even without video referees, he knew: “This is the right thing to do.” When the man he asked said yes, his happiness seemed complete – especially as the media response took on enormous proportions nationwide.

Fraud allegations by a Cologne bar owner

Even fraud allegations against Kaiser by a bar owner could not change that. The bar owner had reported the former employee to the public prosecutor's office in 2024 for allegedly embezzling 5,000 to 6,000 euros from the cash register. Kaiser's former lawyer, Moritz Lange, contradicted this account. There was no truth to the allegations. Rather, his client is said to have received numerous threatening emails in the following period. “I was sent screenshots that provide reliable evidence” that his client's home address was publicly disclosed and that people were called upon to “pay him a visit.”

Allegedly attacked and beaten

Because Kaiser himself is said to have reported this and other observations to the authorities in his place of residence, the police are said to have patrolled the area several times. Nevertheless, unknown individuals are said to have attacked and beaten him twice in the following period. As proof, the victim published a photo showing a swollen black eye. At the same time, the young referee filed a complaint for aggravated assault. His account of the incident quickly spread on social media – partly due to a post by an influential influencer.

Speculation about the background to the incident began in the media. The attacks may have been related to the embezzlement allegations or to a homophobic motive. However, as the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger” learned from investigative circles, the case has since taken a surprising turn. At the end of last week, the public prosecutor's office and police searched Kaiser's house.

IT forensic experts investigating the case have discovered evidence that the alleged threatening emails prior to the attacks may have been faked by Kaiser or his partner. Several data storage devices were seized, including the suspects' cell phones.

The authorities also had the two suspects undergo forensic examinations. The aim is to determine whether the attacks could have been fabricated. The forensic report is intended to clarify whether the referee injured himself or whether his partner could have struck him to simulate the attacks. The results are expected next week, according to reports.

While his partner has already made a statement, Kaiser has reportedly remained silent about the allegations so far. Until a conviction is reached, the presumption of innocence applies. In response to an inquiry from the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger,” the Cologne public prosecutor's office confirmed that it had “launched an investigation against a man residing in Wermelskirchen on initial suspicion of feigning criminal offenses.”

“He is suspected of having faked bodily harm offenses to his detriment and of having written and sent threatening messages that were supposedly addressed to him,” said the spokesperson for the authority. For this reason, “a search of the accused's living quarters took place, during which evidence was secured.” The spokesperson expressly declined to comment on whether the accused was the amateur referee, “in view of the presumption of innocence applicable in preliminary proceedings and the personal rights of those involved in the proceedings, which I am obliged to protect.”

However, “no conclusions can be drawn” from a “refusal to comment.” He asked that “the privacy of my client be respected in reporting and that speculative attributions be refrained from.”

After the alleged attacks became known, 1. FC Köln strongly condemned the violent actions against Kaiser: “The sheer hatred behind this cowardly attack confirms in a despicable way how important our commitment as the FC family is against any form of violence,” the club wrote on Instagram.

Discrimination by the DFB complained about after coming out

After coming out in the summer of 2022, Kaiser sharply criticized the German Football Association (DFB) in an interview with the Berlin-based newspaper “Tagesspiegel” in October 2025. The national association talks about “numerous measures by the DFB to promote diversity,” but "what they are doing is complete pinkwashing. The DFB marches in the CSD in Frankfurt, but votes for a World Cup in Saudi Arabia," Kaiser said. In the Middle Eastern country, homosexuality is punishable by death.

Kaiser went on to say in the Tagesspiegel interview that coming out publicly had damaged his career: "I get promised games in the regional league, but then I don't get them – even though I'm a very good referee. I am also sometimes promised opportunities to move up to the next higher league, but it all remains empty promises.“ According to a sprint test, he is the fastest referee in the state association: ”It is therefore obvious that I am being disadvantaged because of my public appearance."

I've seen Arsenal in person against Slavia Prague last year and if you see the dugout, see the manager, see the players you know that all of them are performative. They imitate, they do exaggerated reactions to everything, sure they won but if you've seen them in person and just watched their players you'll know what I'm talking about. I've watched Barcelona too, they know they're good enough, they know they're winners, they don't need to fake emotions to play up to the media or their fans.

They're also super fucked ever since Bossmanjack bet 1k on them to beat Brentford and ever since it's been downhill.

I am not saying Benfica. I am thinking of some random Italian or French team in the middle to bottom half of the table that is about to pull off an amazing result against a title contending team only for one of their retards to claim racism and walk off. And then have it turn out they didn't actually get any racism hurled their way but wanted to prevent a loss or draw against a team in the bottom half of the table

Even if they claim racism if they leave the match is a 3-0 loss due to no show rule no? I’m like 90% sure, the protocol is just sign racism protocol stop the game speak to the two bench’s then game resumes.
