Goddamn I love football some times. Bottom of League One, Port Vale just knocked out Sunderland. To put it in some perspective that was their 5th win in the FA cup this year while they only have 6 league wins all season.

lmao the UK is fucking gay
It's the same everywhere. Even though it's been years since they implemented it, here in mejico they banned the crowd tradition of shouting "PUTO!" everytime the keeper made a goal kick, just to not offend the few fags that watch the game. Some fun aspects have been stripped from the game over recent years (:_(

I have skimmed through the thread a little bit, but are some of you excited about the world cup? Guess I'll take this oportunity to vent a little bit.
Not excited at all about it lol. The continuous failures of my national team has developed such apathy in me that I don't give a shit anymore. I have experienced 8 world cups in my lifetime (well, 2 of them don't count since I was too young to care about it) and all of them have been disappointment after disappoinment. The last world cup was the last straw that broke the camel's back since it was their worst performance in recent years. Another thing I'm not looking forward too is the political angle, because you know the fucking anti-ICE anti-Trump shit will be present all over the tournament. I'm so sick of seeing that shit being discussed in every facet of media. It's such a shame because I've waiting for a world cup to be held again in my country pretty much all my life, because even though just thinking about the national team brings contempt, experiencing a world cup has always been fun. Watching bunch of games with my boomer relatives, making small bets among the family trying to predict which team is going to win in whatever game we're watching, always a good time.
I guess we'll have to see if it turns into a good type of shit show.

There’s selective policing of the PUTO chant. There are still plenty of instances where the refs don’t do shit about it. Pretty sure I heard it during el Clásico Tapatio last night. It becomes an issue when it involves the Mexican national team, because the chant becomes a referendum on how shit the Mexican National Team is/has been.

In other news, in a tale as old as time, Rangers and Celtic chimp out over who’s even more shit.

A masked fan unplugged a video assistant referee (VAR) monitor in a German second division match on Sunday as the referee was went to the pitchside screen to check a penalty award.

The incident occurred at the end of the first half of Preussen Munster's 2-1 home defeat by Hertha Berlin in Bundesliga 2.

VAR had intervened and referee Felix Bickel was asked to review the incident on a pitchside monitor, but found the screen blank.

"A masked spectator from the active fan section illegally entered the pitch and unplugged the technical equipment," Preussen Munster said in a statement., external

With Bickel unable to make the call, the decision was left to the VAR official Katrin Rafalski in Cologne, ruling that it was a foul and for Bickel to award a penalty, which Hertha scored.

"Preussen Munster regrets the incident and will do everything in its power to identify and bring the perpetrator(s) to justice," the club added,

"Furthermore, immediate measures have been taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. Initial findings indicate that this was a planned action - a banner to that effect was displayed in the home section shortly after the technical malfunction."

German media reported that a banner reading "Pull the plug on VAR" was displayed.

I lost Estadual today in a sad and pathetic way.

Why must we suffer?

Also in other estadual, a massive brawl happened that ended up with 23 expulsions

Also their supporters some time ago were training amongst themselves to fuck up Galoucura

Bloody hell, that’s a bit spectacular, that is. Can see why the goalie was a bit annoyed cos that had to hurt, but it can’t be easy for the attacking player to jump at exactly the right time there. Chucking yourself at oncoming players’ feet is part of the goalie’s job. It’s not fun and it gets you kicked around, but it comes with the territory. Pointless blowing up about it really. Mind you, when it ends up like it did, it does make for some wild viewing.

I don't keep up with scottish football but that old firm match looked funny glasgow should really be quarantined until we can figure out what to do with it

Look like kids’ play (despite one Rangers player trying his hardest to kick off in the tunnel against some poor Celtic kit man. Holy fuck. The hand-wringing over this will be extreme and the penalties overly harsh, of course, because everyone likes to shit on the old firm and blame them for all of Scottish football’s ills.

It does seem in recent times that it’s more Rangers fans causing grief than Celtic, but I’m biased so can’t really be a fair judge. Can’t lie though, I do miss the aggro sometimes. Insert screaming comments about scum and filth ruining the beautiful game here. Not like it was ever about pure tribal rivalries or anything.

Dunno if anyone’s seen the video doing the rounds taken from just by the tunnel. Celtic’s Maida giving it the big un to the Rangers fans, grabbing the Celtic badge and mocking the huns, fucking hilarious. Team mates found it the same too judging by their smiles. Rangers fans going feral. “Those Japanese are so nice and always so staid and restrained”, they said. Yep.

@UselessRubberKeyboard

It is something very specific to Brazil here, since the country is too big, each state has a local competition at the beginning of the year where the big clubs compete against middle and minor clubs of his state. But of course there are states that have 2-4 big clubs in serie A. So there is a matter of local rivalry that goes beyond just a league game. It is about dominance. These two clubs (Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro has been going since 1915 and Estaduais are older than national competition. There is a Atlético Mineiro dominance overall with 50 titles and they won every year since 2019, when Cruzeiro won their last time. However this year after 7 years, Cruzeiro finally won so there is more than just a game. Oh they also share the same city, it is quite common for big clubs in brazil to be in their capitals and there is always a local rivalry that goes beyond just the field.

I really like Estaduais, a local championship that is the basis of all Brazilian football but journos from big centers want them to end because they seem to hate minor clubs.

Fun fact, they won 2 games in the EFL cup before getting knocked out by Arsenal in the 3rd round. So at this point in the season, they have more cup wins than league wins

UCL Round of 16 today and tomorrow.
Early game today: Liverpool at Galatasary
Late games today: Barcelona at Newcastle, Tottenham at Atletico, Bayern at Atalanta

Tomorrow

Dear God, I'm not asking for much. Just for a draw in the rematch at Anfield. That'd be hilarious.

Edit: Switching off your goalkeeper after like 20 minutes bc your whole defensive line has decided to become a slapstick act is literally:story:

*chef's kiss*

Newcastle absolutely mogged Barcelona, and still walk away with a draw. Just shows the gulf in quality of certain clubs comparitively, because give Barca the amount of chances Newcastle had and they're walking away with 5 or 6 goals. Or maybe 3 or 4 because Ferran Torres can't finish a happy meal and Lewandowski is old.

Lol Tottenham.

The good'ol Newcastle robbery, cunt ref (Barca's 12th man) could blow the whistle for everything else but not full time, as per rigged football. Fuck that wop as well.
