In the Regionalliga West (4th tier in German league pyramid) the club Sportfreunde Siegen sacked their coach after just 2 matchdays after they lost their 1st match to a newbie team in the league and only getting a draw in the 2nd match, against another newbie team.

:stress:
Fucking hell, giving Watford a run for their money there.

Aston Villa's goal scorer during the Super Cup was from a totally Englishman called Brian Madjo. Dude made 3 first team caps for Luxembourg's senior team before switching to England and appearing for their U-17 squad

Can some Brazilian kiwi give some insight in the Depay-Corinthians situation? Who is in the right here, the club or the player?

In other news, the Bundeskartellamt (Federal Cartel Office) has confirmed that the 50+1 rule is in fact legal and Leipzig, Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Hannover have to play along or get fucked. Wolfsburg cries legal warfare, Leverkusen cries unfair, Leipzig doesn't care and Hannover accept it teeth grinding.

How can they even enforce this though?

How can they even enforce this though?

The Bundeskartellamt itself can't enforce it. It basically just gave their opinion on the legal issue. The ball is now in the hands of the DFL to find a solution (make every club to follow the 50+1 rule). Theoretically the DFL can simply say "Follow the rule and form your club after 50+1 or get fucked". Will they do it? Obviously not, for different reasons.

The ruling of Bundeskartellamt means two things tho.

The first and important one is that the ground to take legal action for other clubs against the DFL for granting exceptions to a few clubs is basically waterproof now. There are a lot of clubs who already have threatend legal actions against the DFL if they shouldn't force the four clubs (Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, RB Leipzig and Hannover) to play along.

The second one and the more interesting one even is that the Bundeskartellamt recognized all the fans and their protests against the four clubs as valid and as an other important reason why the 50+1 rule needs to stay. They called it "public interest". This is noteworthy bc there are persons within the DFL and some media who tried to downplay the opinions of the fans and their protest. Fan protests got matches on Monday evenings scrapped and fan protests stopped the plans to sell the leagues to investors.

Will anything in the near future change? No. The DFL now has to come up with a plan how the four clubs. So a lot of talking will happen and there is always the possibilty of any of the clubs involved taking legal action against anything that will slow down things. Also VW's reaches goes way deeper than just owning the club of Wolfsburg. VW has ties to a lot of other clubs through sponsoring and providing services, even within the national team and VW is very vocal about not changing anything.

The ruling of the Bundeskartellamt is an important step - on paper. In reality there are lot of obsticles to overcome and that's where the real issues are.

Slightly edge for the club because Corinthians just can't afford him, but Depay himself was making absurd demands already.
The club already spent big bucks to sign Jesse Lingard and Zakaria Labyad, and Depay's contract was already like half the budget that Corinthians could spend on player salaries. And keep in mind they're deeply in debt already, now they're up the nominal shit creek. At the very least, they agreed to let his contract run out instead of paying even more for a contract breach clause.

Lol city are finished, just give them their 115 punishment and put them out of their misery

Also Nuno continues to cost us by being a cowardly retard. Just dont ever go defensive ffs how hard is it to not invite pressure

I don't mean to be a dick or drag this into further politics but.... how much can VW actually do?

I wouldn't think they are in a position to aggressively pursue an expensive legal case over a revenue-loser for them? I get VW's importance, as you say, especially to the DFB itself. But man, if I was a shareholder, I'd be wondering why they're still subsidizing a club in Wolfsburg.

Every rational investor would. It's also weird how Volkswagen doesn't really get any flak in the press for cutting thousands of jobs in their factories but keeps financing and burning money on a struggling team that didn't have any real success since 2015 when they won their last trophy (DFB cup). Their league title dates back even further (2009). With their budget they call it a success qualifying for any European cup every 10 years or so which is ridiculous. You don't fucking hate journalists fucking enough.

In other news, Memphis Depay is allegedly renewing his contract with Corinthians and is also taking a huge pay cut. Weird how this turned out.

If it doesn't have drama, it's not Corinthians. Everything is always a soap opera with them.

Looks like Depay really wants to stay in Brazil.

He's getting old so it's probably better to be the man in Brazil than being on an afterthought team in Europe.

Jamal Musiala collapsed during the last two friendlies of FC Bayern. He posted on Instagram and said he was diagnosed "with brief, transient, but easily treatable absences that are attributable to a neurological dysfunction". Not a doctor so I have no clue what this shit means but poor dude doesn't seem to catch a break since Donnarumma broke his leg at the club world cup.

Apparently he's dealing with a kind of epilepsy that causes this kind of fainting, so it's not so significant. But of course anyone who's followed football over the years can't be comfortable with seeing a guy fainting like this, especially twice in a short period. Hopefully it really isn't a huge deal and he can get it treated
