G4 Returning in 2021

I'm curious if the main reason they aren't airing old G4 stuff is that they've lost access to it, because most of the clips of old G4 shows in new G4 shows are clearly low quality recordings they took from the internet.
Damn, I hate to think that there's not a high quality archive of the old stuff, I thought it was standard for media companies to archive everything? Maybe it's just a matter of time and budget, they could get into the archives if they really wanted to but it's just cheaper and easier to download off the web.

As far as rights goes, would all the clips they used fall under fair use? I can't imagine someone is going to sue Comcast over a clip from a 2003 PS2 game.

Vanguard review was okay. The Black Hokage isn't a bad host. Sessler has to make a joke that there are people who like Nazis in 2021. I can pretend he's just referring to retards like Nick Fuentes not every Trump voter.
I mean hey, Sessler ain't technically wrong.

It didn't used to be. In fact, a lot of old TV is gone for good due to the reuse of tapes and film. The recovery effort for early Doctor Who episodes is an interesting Wikipedia article, even if you couldn't care less about Doctor Who.

It's entirely possible that a lot of G4's old programming only exists on random old tapes and DVRs sitting in random people's basements.

And to think I had hopes on modern day game reviews not being shit, but…

well, there goes anything I had for this new g4! (In all likelihood, it probably would have been caught up in gamergate had the old one survived past 2014, if rev3games showed us anything.)

Kevin was saying something retarded about NFTs and then got very angry as if he was being told through his earpiece to stop talking about it.

It’s funny, because when they came back from commercial, he still tried to continue that before being shushed by a cohost (I believe it was kassem).

For those interested, the first season of Code Monkeys is available on YouTube. You can watch it now until the original user decides to delete since it goes against everything that “gamer culture” stands for.

If Kevin goes full Joaquin Phoenix in Joker while talking about NFTs, then this could the big definition of a mainstream gamer moment. Though, knowing new G4TV under new management, they’ll probably chicken out and call it ”a parody”.

I think I have the DVD for Code Monkeys in a closet somewhere…

And clearly old habits die hard, and Sessler is back to being a fucking pretentious twat. Unnecessary literary references and unnecessary political jabs in a review for a Halo game. He's not obnoxious enough for me to give up on the G4TV reboot but if this continues I'll give up on it again.

On the plus side the new girl is inoffensive so far.

Bringing this thread back from irrelevancy to announce that aside from the lazy looking thumbnails, X-Play did some predictions on what they’re expecting from multi-platform games and the PlayStation 5.

In fact, just recently, they also did one for Nintendo, too.

So far, when looking at all three videos, they have approximately 7k to almost 20k views. Not really impressive for a channel that has over 490k subs on YouTube.

Just FYI: the creator of Code Monkey's was also behind I'm With Busey AKA the greatest "Reality TV" show ever created.

Oh hey, look, kotaku gets a new form, using an old corpse to shove itself in!
Magical!

Is it surprising though? Most of what made G4 is good is dead.

Portal: Dave completely abandoned his online presence. I've seen a few deep dives into it an apparently there was supposed behind the scenes drama and G4 fucked him over hard. A reddit post of someone reaching out to him asking about it was met with Dave lashing out extremely hard about the mention of G4.

Cheat: Cory Rouse is writing and doing minor acting stuff. He's probably making more money having a legitimate career to come back to a floundering youtube channel just trying to nostalgia bait. Even so, at this point most youtube guide channels would probably do the same thing as they would reboot this show into.

Judgement Day/ Electric Playground: Victor Lucas is actually doing his own thing on the Electric Playground youtube channel. He's not bad there, he hosts it very similar to how he did his tv show. Tommy Tallarico is too busy scamming with the Intellivision Amico to do real work.

Honestly the only thing I'm sort of looking forward to is apparently the Kitboga animated series. I just hope it's animated versions of him messing with degen scammers and not something G4 is desperately trying to perverse for the sake of trying to gain relevancy

Kitboga? TAS?
Oh my, I'd need to check this out. if that'll be as glorious as his videos and streams well, it will get boring fast but hey, it provides a good entertainment still!
