G4 Returning in 2021

Watching Portal reminds me of how comfy -yet very cheesy- G4 was in its first two years before the TechTv merger in late 2004. This show really exemplified how diverse and spread out the MMO genre was before the WoW era.

For a couple of minutes, I originally thought I replied in this thread about G4 at the start of the year before recalling it was in the Sessler thread, but that makes sense since the bungling of G4tv is hand in hand with the spiraling of Sesslers life.
But, rewatching some of that Portal episode, it got me thinking; if you got 10 people in a room who remember G4 and you asked "What is G4 to you?" how many of them will have a varied response based on timeframe and content? G4 always had an identity crisis which caused it to constantly shift its brand because Comcast had no clue what the hell to do with it and it was competing at the time with an ever evolving internet for news content of game in the 2000s. For me, G4 is that time period between 2002-2004 with highlights being Judgement Day, G4TV Talk show, Portal, Arena, and Icons and right before the TechTv merger. To others it could easily mean Xplay, AoTS, Happy Tree Friends, Cops and Ninja Warrior. The woke insanity aside spewing out of this resurrected channel aside, I just can't see a 'vision' for G4 in the modern era esp when its old fans are splintered in specific periods of time.

You know what I miss, Icons.
Here we have actual journalism, G4 got together people and creators involved in these products. It covers stuff like the launch of the original Xbox or how the Sega Dreamcast died within 2 years due to the PS2. The first 4 season got creators involved with the games in front of a camera and 20 years later, you can see how things have panned. There's a young Jeff Keeley in this one for instance a decade before his infamous dubbing of Dorito Pope.

The first 4 seasons were legitimate features that I think have only become more important as time has gone on. Because these were made in 2002, a time where the internet was only just starting to come in mainstream culture and while these videos mirror the retrospectives that are popular on youtube these days, they don't have the interviews with creators that Icons did.

Season 5 pivoted into trash pop culture, J.J. Abrams, Suicide Girls, Kevin Smith. All trash.

G4 to me was a pure decline into shit, but I was in an area that only had TechTV before the merger. Extended Play with Sessler filming at some mall, Screen Savers, and some tech news show aping the nightly news format. I still watched Xplay, but everything else about the channel defined how hard of a culture shift there was post 9/11 that I hate.

I didn't know G4TV / Xplay approves of the woke Resident Evil Netflix Adaption, or Japan would call it, "Politically Correct-hazard".

Who want to start seeding all the old G4TV show since G4 is not archiving there old episode and deleting all there old episode on YouTube, since it is getting hard to find there recording.

how can a revival that had no legs aside from mid 20s college burnouts yearning for the days they didnt date a danger hair gf possibly be dying. G4 already died in the early 2000s, it's never been able to get traction aside from that sad, small audience share.
it's a Frankenstein's monster of a collective that hopefully gets put down for it's own good

Always found it telling that for people who claim to love the most weird butchered individuals they always go with "you're a virgin and your dick is small!".
