Gacha thread - How about them rates?

Ive noticed a ton of Gacha game threads appearing on /v/ recently.

Its like you just slap an anime girl and microtransactions on a game and you attract idiots to throw money at you

Its the older than weeb thing that Al Bundy knows. Tits sell stuff.

Azur Lane at least has a very, very forgiving gacha element with a 7% rate for the best stuff. Some others have 10% of that.

Nip New Horse girl racing gacha game earned about 12 billion yen (around 110 million usd) in march. Japan really love their horse racing huh?

Epic Seven for me, I have been thinking about making a thread for a while on it.

Anime gacha with a really good turn based combat system and a very active pvp scene. Its fairly F2P friendly but it takes a long time to get up higher rankings in pvp that way.

PvE is pretty good but you really only build characters for that so they can auto it.

Here's my general rating on gachas

F2P Friendly
  1. Azur Lane
  2. Arknights
  3. Genshin, if you're patient
  4. GBF-Seasonal player
Boring gameplay, ok story
  1. FEH
  2. FGO
Powercrept to Death
  1. Brave Frontier
  2. Grand Summoners
  3. Anything resembling the two.
  4. Marvel Future Fight
Haven't tried others.

Another example is Dead or Alive Venus Vacation, its basically a Auto Beach Volleyball game. The gacha aspect of the game is from trying to roll for the swimsuits with the heart stones (either saved from daily login/quests or bought with real money)

I'm sorry, but what the hell is this shit? It doesn't even look like the character's wearing it - it just looks like they pasted an image over a default model. The thumbnail on the right looks alright, but come on.

Avoid Identity V.

To get the rarest skin from it's gacha you're either lucky to get the 0.5% or spend $$$ to get it guaranteed at the 250th pull.

Their strategy for forcing people to whale for the skin is by making it limited to that season only.
Unlike DbD almost everything in the ingame shop can be bought with the f2p currency and accumulating the currency is piss-easy

Been playing a shit ton of gacha games over the years but nothing has hold my interested like azur lane. It should honestly be the prime example of how to do a gacha game 101. GFL is a worthy mention but can be a pain in the ass to play especially later in the game. There are some upcoming games im looking forward to like
Last Origin
Red pride of eden
Project ceris
Blue archive
Ive played some kings raid but man do you hit a wall after yoy get done with the story.

I keep wanting to write about the Disgaea gacha but I keep forgetting, which is pretty much the most appropriate thing I can say about it. The game is really forgettable and is just a cookie cutter gacha - The gameplay is vanilla turn based rpg, and you mainly grind for shit. You'd think it will be the tactics gameplay the series is known for, and I'd wager that's what NIS originally tried and it failed to capture a player base since you can't make a gacha require thought.
Besides that you just roll for characters, but there is no real synergy between characters and you'd do best just putting your biggest beatsticks in your party. Rarity is incredibly important and while you can increase character rarity, I don't care enough to actually grind some junk character to check if it compete with main characters.
Another problem in the game is that if you played the games then you already know all the characters, so there's not a lot of reason to look forward for any specific character, though on the other hand it's nice to see the old cast interacting.
Finally, at least where I got to before I lost interest, equipment is pointless since leveling up is far more important than gear.
The one very nice thing I will say about the game is that it's far more lenient and simple in leveling up characters and you get a daily roll. But the pricing is absolutely insane.

The #1 Gacha game I always play is Girls X Battle. They have a USA version called Ninja Girls: Reborn. There's a few differences between the two however...
  • GxB goes by European time zone, so let's say you're in USA Eastern Time Zone, the new day of the week begins at 5PM, while in NGR, the new day begins at 7AM
  • GxB gives beginners more shit when they start the game for the very first time, such as getting a 3 star girl on the 3rd log-in day. Their "7 Day Beginner" event also gives a fuck-ton more steaks/meat than NGR does (French Fries being the lowest filler, Ice-Creame being middle, and Steaks/Meat being highest in raising your stamina)
  • On the flip side, NGR revamped the shop some time ago to where you can purchase (with in-game currency, which is piss easy to get) rare and powerful girls that you can't get on GxB normally. Similarly, the choices you are given of girls to choose from with each 10 levels you get to are different as well (e.g. at lv40 in GXB you can get Rose, Toy Girl, or Maid. In NGR, you can get Lin AI, Hottie, or Wild Girl). lv 50 is the last level in which you can get a free powerful girl.
  • in GxB Aquaris is your main and the first girl you get. The 7 Day Beginner event focuses on getting as many scrolls of her as possible to 5 star her (she is a 1 star girl). Completing every mission in the event will reward you with her alternate outfit that comes with a new skill. In NGR, Aquaris is switched with Redeyes (named "Ninja" in GxB), and the event focuses on her. Also even though normally she is a 3 star girl, in NGR they downgrade her to a 1 star girl.
  • Speaking of names, a few names are changed for the girls (Dr. Hua / Dr. J, Lin AI / AI X, etc...)
Try both if you're curious to see which one you prefer more.

The good thing about this game is that even though the game hints that you should spend money on this thing, you really don't have to. With all the shit they give you, you can get to higher chapters of the story fairly easily. On the downside, you will struggle in PVP (Top Floor, 1 on 1, Arena, and Champion League) since there are plenty of whales that have gotten girls that you'll never see in your entire life and will just fuck you over completely.

Also they have a fuck-ton of servers you can switch to (if you're like me that likes to server-jump to start fresh for whatever reason). However, GxB hasn't had a new server since February, oddly enough., but NGR is still adding servers on a monthly/bi-weekly basis (then again, they are up to 267, GxB is somewhere in the 300's)

The girls are divided into different classes. Strength are the tanks, but most of them don't do a lot of damage. Intelligence are strictly the magic users that have piss-poor attacks and defense, and Agility is a balance of the two, although most of them do physical attacks instead of spell attacks.

Playing the event in Disgaea, made me realize how FGO is bringing in all the money.

fucking hell, the grind is so atrocious, every single aspect is gimped to incentivize paying for QoL items, whaling is incentivize to get most out of a character.

And I am seeing that it will die an early death, just like Madoka gacha NA server, as the publishers already said that they will speed things up to catch to JP server

Lately I've been really getting into Figure Fantasy, and it's surprisingly good. Don't really give a shit about the story (basically Toy Story except anime and the "master" is aware his figures are alive), the battles themselves are what matters, which is a really cool system of positioning your figures in different spots for the best results (melee attackers in the front, supporters in the middle, rangers in the back) depending on where the enemy is located. The game is also pretty fair on Diamonds (the "premium" currency), as there are many ways to get them, and you're always going to use them to get more figurines, of which there are some pretty good ones, like a chick that spawns boxes that shoot shit at the enemy and can be used as decoys to protect your team. This game also has an "Otaku" section where you can decorate your room with shelves and al the figurines you collected.

Where this game suffers is the drop rate of the rare figures, so what you wind up doing (like I've been doing) is sticking with a basic (Purple) team and then over time upgrading them to the other levels (1 Star Yellow, then 1-3 star pink), which to be honest aren't complete dogshit like most basic bitch teams on other gachas. Two melee, one healer, and two ranged attackers, and I've easily gotten to lv100 on the 9th chapter within a week WITHOUT spending a dime.

They just got finished doing a Hatsu Miku event. She's a ranged fighter that leaves the battlefield to cheer on the rest of the team and does her little dance that throws fireballs at the opponent.

Necroing this thread because this tweet is hilarious. I dont know anything about this franchise, but to announce release and closure in the same tweet is peak gacha.

Necroing this thread (again) but I`m curious if any other kiwis might be into games like Blue Archive, Azur Lane etc.
Used to really be into Azur Lane, honestly one of the most honest and ''fair'' gacha game out there.

A coworker has been rambling about NIKKE, I haven`t checked it out yet but I heard it was popular.

Nikke is a better game in graphics and gameplay. Azur Lane is more free to play friendly, you can get by just using dock space. If you invest the money of a single can of coke or small burger into AL every month, even roster space won't bother you.

The only people I have seen whaling for Azur Lane were streamers who only paid it once a month and decided to pull everything new in a single stream. The skins are 99% just direct purchase so its not gambling, it is just pure selling T+A.
