Lulz developing, I'll just leave this here. Queries about ball pit time are already appearing in comments some places.

Latest information I have is Richard Hatch stating he has been 're-invited' and will be attending. But since he would go to the opening of a car wash, not surprising.

Seems like we'll be getting Dashcon 2015 after all.

Clearly, we're dealing with a crack organizing team here. Rescinding your invitations to the convention's key speakers? Missing a vital payment to the venue? Firing the organizer days before the event? This is professional-level incompetence here folks.

Dashcon is going to happen more and more. Just a little over five years ago we didn't have cons for every stupid random thing but comic-cons exploded in popularity and niche cons arrived so everybody wants to be a con organizer for their favorite thing now. Strange though that this is in its fourth year, they should have gotten their shit together by now.

This kinda reminds me of an even worse version of that one League of Legends convention that happened in the east coast a few months back that was also a bit of a disaster, as well as the obvious DashCon comparison.

I think the one thing that's worrying me is that there is a "IV," implying that this convention has been done before. Now, I'm not a fan of Battlestar Gallactica in any form, but I think that the fact that I haven't heard of any lulzy stories about this convention until then probably means that the last three incarnations at least went by harmlessly, and that some idiot really dropped the ball here.

I believe they probably contracted to deliver a certain number of hotel room rentals in return for a special room rate. However, it became apparent that they weren't going to be able to cover their requirement, which often triggers a requirement to basically cough up the full amount up front.

This put them in an immediate cash flow crisis.

It's a fairly common type of con disaster.
