The only thing I can find on the topic is this guy's (very good) video pointing out one example of it. Every other video or article is hyper focused on the Appearance A/B faggotry when selecting a character.

That should be a non-issue because if the original contains content such as CP, or whatever would be definitively be classified as illegal, it would obviously be illegal and not something translated to begin with.

If I hate Karl Marx or Foucault, even if I think nobody should ever read them, I would still want a translation that actually does exist to be accurate and non-censored so people issue their rebuttal to their actual ideas.

and this is the crux of the matter, who do you wanna let decide what's "good" or "bad"? CP is obviously illegal because it involves actual victims (and I doubt any videogame has legit CSAM, which drawn lines or written text still isn't and only a retard would think otherwise), but saying men can be women? what's so offensive about it? who's gonna get hurt? once you start to ban some ideas, doesn't matter if "good" or "bad", you have to eventually ban them all 1984 style. which is the reason "hatespeech-laws" are such bullshit - who decides what "hate" is? especially now compared to germany 80 years ago, or US coastal cities to south africa. but of course that will never happen and when it does only elsewhere...

I'd guess he meant more in the lines of drawn (usually softcore) CP, where the legality depends on the country and you can remove most of it through either scene removal or steam/outfit changes.

Really that's the only conceivable problem besides the extremely rarer depictions of real life violence, or exposing individual's private data.
