Damn i know that them Japs are old but I didn't know those yellow bitches who were getting served in the kitchen in 1962 finally got to tell their plight in video game form. Really brings a tear to my eye.

I'm not into Silent Hill, so I don't have much of an opinion over the fact that Silent Hill F is obviously Silent Hill in name only. But the dialogue posted didn't immediately scream to me as necessitating saying that Silent Hill has fallen, billions of yen must be lost. I feel like I've read similar things in other Japanese media before. Them translating 亭主関白 as "patriarchal husband" is pretty lame though.

So I ended up spending a few hours skimming through playthroughs of the Japanese version of the game including all the endings, and honestly I don't think Silent Hill F is woke at all. There's nothing in the story that suggests its message is that women are better than men, or that men are all bad and abuse women, or something along those lines. The main conflict isn't even totally about gender, it's about the main protagonist Hinako being in a love triangle with a couple of guys (there's no lesbian stuff in the game like some people were confused about) that's being manipulated by a couple of warring gods. A lot of it has to do with her own mental hang-ups about things changing as she grows up and the dudes involved have their own hang-ups.

The gender stuff comes in in that that Hinako is scared that all marriages are unhappy because her father acts like an abusive asshole and feels like as a woman she's pressured into how her life goes without her say in the matter. But the true ending path makes it clear that her father isn't even a totally bad guy and that he never actually abused his wife, and her mother considers their marriage a happy one. It also shows that he apologized to her before her arranged marriage and even said that he wouldn't mind if she canceled on it if that's what she really wants, and feels guilty about her seemingly being scared of men because of how he acted around her. Additionally, the guy she was arranged to marry is a cool dude who helps save the day at the end, and the true ending pretty much says the two of them will likely still get together later, but after they both have some time to think about what else they want in life besides marriage. The story doesn't take the position that men actually are as sexist as Hinako is afraid they are and a lot of it is in her head due her parents not acting right around her.

The only bits I saw that basically imply the game's setting is more sexist than modern day are Hinako's older sister in one scene saying something to the effect of the freedom Hinako wants likely being more the norm in the future, and one journal entry saying how her father felt the need to look strong in front of his kids was influenced by the attitudes of the current time.

Lol wut? Especially as the sleazier games use (typically exaggerated) boob physics rather than mocap (that usually doesn't allow boob movement due to the suits). Nevermind that I doubt you'd find any Asian women with those proportions without some excessive boob job, especially underage ones.

At least before they removed Weinstein there were hot women in Western films. Afterwards it's all ugly mutts and niggers.

You misread my post. I'm saying it's retarded to moralfag over fictional titties(DOA, Tomb raider) like wokes do, but with sleazy slasher films that use real actors I can somewhat agree with them. Especially when you had corrupt directors/producers behind the scenes manipulating or abusing said women.
