Gamefaqs - An old gaming website that still exists somehow

Just remember that if you ever feel like a retard, just take solace in the fact that you're not trying to use Twitter to sway a fucking Gamefaqs poll, then chimping out on both sites when someone calls you out.

Yeah, you only had to log in as long as you had an active post, but still... 20 fucking years straight and never missed a day of posting. It's just, I joined the Marine Corps, I did shit, I went to Iraq, and even outside of those, there were times where the last thing on my mind was getting my daily GameFaqs login. I'll admit I'm a bit of a fucking autist weirdo, but I didn't go this fucking hard... and I have to point it out, just to state I'm not gonna be moralized to by a bunch of fucking no-lifers.
Much earlier in the thread I posted a couple of photos of CyricZ, one of which when he was much younger and looked like a fairly normal nerdy guy, and then a much newer one where he looked like a soulless creep. I also had distant memories of him being a cool guy like 20 years ago, but now he's a total white knight for trannies everywhere. I swear, he changed, and got overtaken with the swaths of nerd communities to fell to HRT.

Over the last 23 and a half years, he has missed just 101 days worth of karma. As in, he has logged in 8,504 days out of the 8,605 that've passed since he joined back when the Game Boy Color was current.

EXIF data says this picture was taken on 9/20/2002, exactly 21 years ago today:

And here's a selfie he posted on 2/23/2020:

There's a guy who thinks he's more well adjusted than any of us, despite living on GameFAQs obsessively for the past 23 years and counting.

CyricZ is an open-borders faggot and is the biggest reason why I support the death penalty in Western nations.

Goddamnit. I never was active in the Gamefaqs community but read guides on there religiously ever since the PS1/PS2 era. I only know this dudes name because of his Yakuza series guides, that second photo is making me sad.

I got alot of use out of gamefaqs back in the day. I don't know if this has been brought up, but had anyone made an archive of gamefaq that could be used offline like offline Wikipedia archives? I can't imagine it without be prohibitively large of a file.

I don't know if anyone has, but if you can or know someone who can do a scraper; it shouldn't take up too much space if you're just getting the guides and such, as most of them are still heavily text only and not too many people are using the HTML option.

My only complaint with a whole GameFaqs archive is I know what level of bullshit late 90's early 2000's quality is in there. You'd have guides that were claimed complete, and not. Despite having an English release, with Star Ocean 2, you had retarded fucking weebs trying to use Katakana and romanization of Japanese names, and not even doing it properly at times; turning Claude into Crawd, meanwhile instead of "Killer Move," the idiot fucking author is calling them a "Waza." What the fuck is a Waza? Oh, it's a skill/technique, why can't you just fucking call it that? You can't even fucking translate and have a fucking ocean of unintelligible Engrish. And there was like one that I remember, because foreign scripts weren't exactly widely available at the time; a good portion of shit were squares and question marks... so no, I don't know what fucking town ?????■■■■ is. I swear to fucking God, the Star Ocean 2 part of that website fucking destroyed brain cells.

And don't get me wrong, I'm a fucking weeb. I'm just also an autist and would focus to maintain a level of clarity and competency. I also hated people who'd just give you a maze of turn-left/right over and over and you get fucking lost, along with people who'd add dumb jokes or snide comments every few sentences.

Ah, good times...

HOLY SHIT that aint the same GameFAQs forum I used to use... shame, the guides/FAQs there are still really good.

Sadly, when on a main or official board, you run into this. The reason why it's now like this is that all the way back to CBS, the people who own it having been quietly running it with SJW rules. I mean this is a site WITH an optional word filter (on by default) that completely blocks words like "retard".. and in fact will temp ban for even implying or explaining the word in its own place. They grew this shit also with political and debate boards run on prog mod whims without much comment or clarity. Where having the wrong opinion in a topic and not being forced to submit or leave, usually leads to sudden bans from the board or even site. People with the wrong opinions persistently, even just debating on the 'wrong" side, is usually enough to get you in trouble after too long. (No flaming, personal attacks, banned words, or uncivil conduct required..) They just treat prolonged dissent as "trolling" or abuse of some kind. OC certain people (with the right opinions) are allowed to run around trolling, insulting, derailing, openly talking about people by name, and all sorts of other rule breaking bullshit, without fear.

If you stay off the main boards and hold off on the most active game boards while they are hot, you are generally ok.. But you will have to put up with the random idiot (and then his friends) showing up if you are unlucky or dare to bring up censorship.

"DiD yOu EvEr ThInK oF tAlKiNg To TrAnS pEoPlE dIrEcTlY?"

I hate when tranny lovers tell you to talk to trannies. Like okay? You want me to develop some kind of bias by bonding with trannies or feel peer pressured into supporting them? I don't need a harem of troons to conclude their obvious degeneracy, is in fact, degenerate. The few I've had the unfortunate displeasure of interacting with briefly was more than enough, thanks.

CBS owned it even in the late 2000s-early 2010's I used the site (I think I joined just as it was merging with Gamespot), and it was still not like this. Definitely some post GG brainrot.

They're still going in that Mario thread about some random character being trans... and we get a name drop.

Oh God, AceMos. One time I caught a blast a shit because she writes like a sped and I pointed this out, and then all the soyboy white knights dogpiled on me because I didn't read her sig where she admits that she is medically incapable of shitposting on gamefaqs. The trannies would make a lampshade out of her at the first opportunity.

Ace is one of those special users (favored by the staff, trolls) I talked about that go around getting involved in every and any discussion with the potential for wrong think or acknowledging the existence of censorship. A true believer in SJ politics and all-around fuckwad in general. Seems to be the whole point to being on the site too.

If you're really lucky you'll get ReeeeeEra tards show up on a topic. They really like to do it when ever their hellscape gets mentioned. Either in the form of main named accounts or random noobs suddenly popping up to defend the site.

It was subtle back then.. But that is where a lot of the more insane word policing started. Laid the groundwork for what you see now. Later "never GG" media companies didn't help.
