I'm shopping for gamepads right now for my PC. What are your favorite gamepads and what sort of nostalgic feeling do you get out of them?

I have a wired Xbox 360 controller that lights up. You can set it to light up when it rumbles, to have the lights always on, or to have no lights on.

It's like a PSMove (not WiiMote, because it actually works with a PC) for your PC. It supports over 150 games and is well worth the money.

The Afterglow Wired Xbox360 controller is probably what SPaps was talking about. I have one of them that I use when playing Third Person Shooters, Fighting, and Racing games.

EDIT: There is an official PC thread now. Talk about this stuff in there so we don't clog the forums. I'm trying to do Hunter a favor so he doesn't go all homoputin rage on the influx of loose threads.

Gamepads are not strictly PC

All you ever need.

How do hack controllers compare to controller to USB jacks? I've heard mixed reviews on both

I have only used an adapter, the one I used let me plug a SNES pad into my PC, and it worked fine, but I only tested a standard pad, no idea if it works with turbo sticks or what have you.

Might considering to get a HEX-Box 360 controller for my laptop soon.

I have a Logitech wireless rumble-pad thingy that I loved, but some games were just too damned difficult to remap to it. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, bypassed DirectInput and did something else for the Xbox, so ports from console-first titles tend to kind of suck. I gave up and bought a wireless Xbox gamepad thingy, and have no complaints.

I still wish I could get the logitech to work on everything (THANKS FOR NOTHING, MICROSOFT) but the xbox gamepad does what I need it to do. If I had it to do over again, I'd just go for the xbox controller. (Which is now changing so the bastards are probably going to make me buy another one. I just remind myself that they'll be first up against the wall when the revolution comes and I feel better.)

There are a variety of 360 controller emulators that allow direct imput devices to act like ximput.

I have one I use for my PS2 controller to play Fallout 3.

I have a Spartan gamepad that I bought for my laptop, then after buying my PS3 I found out the gamepad was PS3-compatible. How's that for a stroke of luck?
