Sadly, you're going to get your wish.

The usual suspects felt they were owed Gaming as a whole by right, and they had all the pieces set up on the board, only to ultimately lose against an enemy consisting virtually entirely of speds. The reason they lost, ultimately, was their own incompetence (CON whining about harassment while doing infinitely worse and openly defending a self-admitted pedophile, for example) and pathological inability to understand how the Streisand Effect works. Throw in them being such assholes that people who had no dog in the fight sided against them just to spite them, and you have one of the most glorious self-ownms in the history of the internet.

The thing is, they threw everything at it trying to stop it, and the result was.... This.

Gamergate is their Tet Offensive, their Waterloo, their Battle of Gettysburg, the Saracens they lost to in their Crusade. And they will never let that go.

I don't have strong feelings on GamerGate. I actually enjoyed Depression Quest and gave it a C (on PanJury, which is down now due to my behavior). It's a nice visual novel, when you choose not to take medication and not get therapy, you can't select certain answers. The medication is optional.

But I think one thing about GamerGate is that stories ruin gaming. Western RPGs where you select a character class are better and you put yourself in the game. Adding voices to video games ruined it for me. I always insert myself in the game as one of the characters.

Gamergate had literally zero effect on anything, except making gaming "journalists" short circuit and rant and rave about "alt right" shitposters whining abt vidya having troons and gays. The fact that gamergate is even mentioned at ALL in [current year] is genuinely sad to me lmfao.

I heard it explained in a way I think puts it pretty succinctly.
Gamergate was when progressives tried to fuck with and infect pop culture in earnest. Namely gaming..They had already infected tv, movies, comics, but video games, they just couldn't get in there.

All pop culture is infected to varying degrees. However, as you can see most other forms of media are totally tainted by progressive talking points. Gaming and its audience has yet to kneel.

This pisses off progressives, so whenever they can blame video games they do. Gamergate is the only battle (if you can call it that) they can reference, its when they tried injecting progressive politics into the gaming zeitgeist and failed. Now they can't stop using it as an example as to why gaming is so toxic, because THEY aren't in control, and if THEY aren't in control, then clearly its problematic.
Ironic how the right tried this in the 90s, failed miserably, yet the left thinks they can do it cause they are some how more special or capable. Maybe its the dyed hair IDK.

At this rate, I won't be surprised they'll blame gamergate if "creepy uncle" Joe Biden die more earlier than they anticipated.
