Let's see,
- Klepek, Plante, Grayson and Orland are all doing the same thing, with some having switched websites.
- Schrier is also doing the same thing, but is notably the only one to claw his way out of the crab bucket that is gaming journalism by signing on with Bloomberg.
- Kuchera was quasi-canceled. A bunch of journalists were chatting about how he's the reason they don't submit to Polygon earlier this summer.
- Leigh Alexander left the industry in a huff when her attempt to make a gamer girl version of the Mary Sue fell apart.
- Russ Pitts and Susan Arendt left the Escapist a second time, after Russ sassed back at Zoe Quinn on twitter.
- Brandon Boyer got #metoo'd and fired.
- George Weidman is still the youtuber Super Bunnyhop.

Still, either way it's already been quite awhile since these "culture wars" began, although somehow it doesn't seem that long.

It all happened in the leadup to Labor Day weekend. The articles started dropping on the 28th/29th.
 
Please forgive me for reviving this crap but I woke up this morning and suddenly remembered that gamergate had a guy who along with Mercedes Carrera tried to launch a satellite that would host an image board called Spacechan. And I remembered that the guy behind it was an especially extraordinary individual and his backgroud was something like he was a martial arts fag, MIT tier linus tech tips guy, and he had an albino wife who was stolen from him by her parents who put her into a nut house. I can't remember or find his name though and it'd be interesting to see what he's doing currently (inb4 it's political racism)

I don't remember a story like that at all. Searching for "spacechan satellite" brought up some interesting things, though. Did this person go by "endomorphosis?" That name is attached to this satellite (apparently?) model on TinkerCAD and this Reddit account which has lots of posts on GG-adjacent topics up until four years ago. Here's a blog post by Hot Wheels calmly dissecting how stupid the idea is. There's also this confused KIA thread.

It's bizarre because it's kind of an opposite situation. GamerGate was largely against puritanical censorship of video games. So when some people want to puritanically (if justifiably) censor a movie, they must also be GamerGaters? It's literally the "everyone I don't like is a" meme.
