Every single piece of Logitech shit I've ever bought has double clicking issues or some other issue. And not just the cheap shit either.

I've had a Logitech trackball as my mouse for over 20 years and I am not shitting or exaggerating in the least. It has worked flawlessly for decades. I've had it so long all the logos are worn off and the plastic body has turned that sickly brown from my skin oils seeping in.

I only laid it to rest last year when I did a full upgrade and only because I could not find a single modern motherboard that had the old 9 pin plug in support.

It still sits on my desk staring at me probably feeling hurt and wondering why I never use it anymore...

If you're talking about the PS2 port ( old keyboard and mouse) plenty of motherboards have that still... Fortnite kids are convinced that it is faster than USB.... Somehow

Sounds like a serial mouse. A cursory glance showed no easy or inexpensive options for plugging an old serial mouse into a USB port but I only did a minute of searching so maybe someone more knowledgeable could help.

Regarding PS/2 being "faster", it's because the interface is based around interrupts but this makes no difference and you can get USB mice with extremely high polling rates if you want. My mouse shipped with a small 1K receiver and a bigger 4K receiver, I've used both and there's literally no noticeable difference other than the 4K dongle causing much faster battery drain and its larger size being very inconvenient.

It is (slightly) faster and also more reliable. High end medical equipment or industrial machine controls still run off of PS/2 instead of USB. Lots of secure PCs use them to avoid having a USB port on the PC at all. And using them also frees up more USB ports on your own machine for USB only devices. Older dedicated console ports were faster than the current USB standards as well. So it's not exactly dead or outdated technology. You can still purchase PS/2 mice and keyboards brand new manufactured.

G305 double clicks. I even bought two.

I had a Mad Catz R.A.T.7 that started double clicking after 2+ years. It's the same mechanism in the Logitech mice. I found some videos on it, took apart the mouse and bent the little copper plate so it would click properly again. Worked great and then someone broke into my apartment and stole a bunch my stuff including that mouse.

If the G305 has that issue out of the box, they're not being flexed to the right tolerances in the factory, or the QA process is broken.

PS/2 is 6 pin. 9 pin would be the dsub serial.

You can still get motherboards with PS/2 because, but 9pin serial is harder unless you get industrial boards.

I have an old MX518 that still works as if it were brand new 10+ years later. But that is from a totally different era of QC at this point.
It isn't my daily driver any longer and I'm hopeful it'll turn out to be one of those pieces of hardware that unexpectedly works for 30 or more years.

You can get a serial to USB adapter.

Do your motherboards not have COM ports? Granted, I've only used b450 and x570 in recent years, but I'm using these all the time as nigger rigged remote management since you can send sysrq or access GRUB over serial console.

Ah shit completely forgot about that. I was only thinking of what they already bring out for rear I/O.
it's the alzheimers again ain't it?
there are tons of adapters you can find, at least i can give chinks some credit to that, had a bios fuckup and had to order a chink reprogrammer now my board is fine.

My B660 mobo has it and I had this adapter lying around so I hooked it up even though I don't use it, but I like overspeccing my PC with useless shite. Like a full sized PC speaker that only beeps during boot since Windows dropped support for it around Vista, and even with patched drivers or Linux I can't get it to beep. Or a BluRay drive but that's actually useful since I still have a collection of CD's and DVD's.

I have a file called beep.wav that sounds like a PC speaker beep (I made it myself; it is just a simple square wave) that I use for the terminal. This is because the default bell sound is that annoying as shit blooOOOM Windows sound.

I also used the Group Policy Editor to play the Windows 95 startup sound but that’s just for aesthetics. On my gaming PC I use the Super Mario World Game Over theme instead because I’m a super pozzed Jazz weeb with shit taste.

I have replaced all my system sounds with Windows XP sounds. Mixed in some Utopia window management sounds as well and restored the login/logout/lock/unlock sounds with a Windhawk mod. A small touch, but a nice one.
