Even in the field of entertainment journalism there needs to be an opportunity for the press to express themselves. This is something straight out of a despotic nation who wants the population pacified and the press suppressed for the most innocuous of reasons. What you would get is essentially replaceable newsbots. Not people who can express their opinions, why not just give every game 10/10 in fear of not hurting the feelings of some game publisher?
Welcome to Communism: when everyone is equal, everyone is equally interchangeable.

"Our morale has never been this low," IGN employees say a week after confronting their parent company.

Can’t have morale if there was never any to begin with

IGN is definitely a, "...and nothing of value was lost." Check their youtube page, they've been shilling random toys, loot crates, electronics, anything that got sent to them with a twenty taped to it, they'd put in front of a camera and gush about. Journalistic integrity? They've been whores for the entire duration of their existence.

That's a rather weird remark given the hype train derailed the second actual reviews came out. Nobody has been hugely kind to Biomutant.
they are unironically still butthurt about that 8chan AMA, I kid you not.
ironically they make themselves even more irrelevant that way, either because people know their reviews are dogshit on purpose, or THQ can turn around and say it's the journos fault the games don't sell.

Is that why troons think they're a thing?
By corollary. The general notion is that there is nothing inherent to who a human being is: genetics are cosmetic only, and there is no such thing as a soul. Instead, the entirety of who and what you are is the sum of what you were taught, and the only reason you are different from anyone else is because of the people who taught you. Thus, by extension, if one can perfectly control how you are raised, then one can perfectly control who you will be for your entire life. Standardized education, the destruction of the family unit, piece by piece the variables are removed, leaving you a blank slate for the State to program as it pleases. A deviant from the acceptable parameters is not a free-thinker, it is a defective unit, to be either reprogrammed or disposed of.

This is the true horror of not only Communism, but of all Socialist/Collectivist ideologies; that on their most fundamental level, they deny the inherent value of human life, the innate irreplacibility of you as an utterly unique speck of life that will never be replicated for as long as reality shall last. You are not a man, hand-crafted by God and set upon this earth with purpose, you are a meat computer to be filled with data and set to execute your task.

How fucking disgusting that they would use "diversity" as their rallying cry.

Charlie apparently single handedly killed BioMutant with his review. He starts the review going "I know this game was made by a small team of people, but the problem is they're charging 60 dollars, so if they want AAA pricing I'm going to judge them like an AAA game". He shot down the hype baloon the game had like it was The Hindenburg.

Not even Dunkey has the power to destroy a game like that.
I don't think the people that were looking forward to Biomutant are the same audience that listens to Charlie. That said, he's not a game journo, he's a youtuber so he's irrelevant to the thread -- but you raise a good point about making a thread about youtube reviewers. He backed iDubbz during that embarrassing fiasco because he figured he could be next if they don't circle the wagons now which leads me to believe he has piss poor judgment. And this is where my memory is fuzzy, but did he like Cyberpunk 2077 or no?

I dunno I think the line between youtuber and game journo is blurred heavily because they both do the same thing. They only get called a game journalist if their output is fucking ass. I mean look at Jim Sterling for example, he does videos and writes articles, but videos are his primary format. But he gets grouped in with game journalists because he has to be on a soapbox. Guru Larry is another example, he gets called a youtuber despite also doing videos and articles, but his content is actually good and interesting.

IIRC Charlie called Cyberpunk a good game with a lot of problems. I'd say that's an accurate (although a bit neutral) statement, especially if you are used to Bethesda games.

Honestly Cyberpunk's problems are on par with Biomutant's for the most part - although I think Biomutant is actually more stable - even the story are roughly the same quality, although I find Biomutant's to be more charming for its unique take and because I like looking at it as if I'm playing a documentary. Only difference is Biomutant took twenty people and as such should be commended given how many worked on Cyberpunk and pushed out that turd. He really should keep that in mind given how lenient he was with Cyberpunk and they straight up fucking lied to everyone; customers, investors and journalists. And it wasn't a No Man's Sky scenario where Sony pushed a socially awkward person to the forefront to sell the game Peter Molyneux style, CDPR were blatantly malicious in their lies like Gearbox.

Just seems weird to me he gives Cyberpunk so much leniency, but not so much Biomutant when Biomutant actually fits the criteria to be lenient towards. 🤷

If only Biomutant was able to pay off game reviewers with free merch and other bribes...

He's not going to chop off his dick, he's one of the oh so surprisingly large number of male feminists who just happen to be a lesbian woman in a mans body who still keep their feminine dick to fuck other woke dumbfucks with

And here I hoped it would have been an easy suicide.
