I always thought this toggle was purposely broken similar to how searching chat is. I kind of wished it worked but it wouldn't make sense to have it without chat search not also working.

It used to be a thing years ago. Null decided to rewrite chat and that feature broke/was removed/was never re-added (along with a handful of other features).
