I mean it's not "hard" though either at least not from any external source. 90% of the roadblock to it is just personal hangups and hesitance.

The more and more I watch hololivers that do interact with Holostars or other dudes to no fanfare or outcry, the more I realize 90% of the battle is just in their own heads.

Nobody got an anti army after them when Matsuri does songs with holostars or goes on Aruran's drinking stream.

Nobody shit the bed when Okayu collabed with her artist and pointed out to her chat that they were a dude.

Nobody (outside of those triggered by anitubers in general) launched a lynch mob over Calli being on trash taste even though she was physically in the room with 3 of those pesky "penis havers"

Really at this stage of the game the only thing holding any talents back from collabing with someone of the opposite gender is the talents themselves.

I don't expect "someone as wimpy as Kiara" as you say to be the one to step up and do it, but I will say that with most anything in life, if you have the power to change something, but instead choose to just whine about it instead, you just come off as seeking a pity party and attention. Her fanbase already likes Huke and enjoyed seeing him play Gartic with her fairly recently, nobody is stopping her from collabing with him "because he's a man" she just needs to grow a spine and do it (when his schedule allows) if she really wants it.

That's the problem. The resistance is small, but the current is not strong enough, even though it could be. Meaning, that the antis are a small problem, and the biggest issue is on the mind. Someone like Oga and Roberu can overcome this, someone like Kiara whose every step is filled with fear will not. "I was afraid that after being hired, I would fuck up and get fired." "I was walking in a crowd and I was afraid a stranger was stalking me." Those are her words, and her reactions. She cannot be the one to use her power to change things. She will instead use her safe space, which is the superchat readings with her most loyal to vent and continue on with her life. I congratulate her for being able to push on even when fear is lurking, but she cannot but be someone who is going to vent and be afraid. She doesn't have the mentality. She can persevere, but she doesn't get that much stronger. She has potential and abilities, but her psychology will probably always hold her back.

Free software limitation encountered. The free version of MixPad that I'm using doesn't have Virtual Studio Technology (VST) support.
But LMMS (short for Linux Multimedia Studio) does. Its own limitation that it doesn't do audio recording, but MixPad does.
Yin and Yang complete.
I'm loving Bedroom Producers Blog, particularly the Best Free DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and Free VST Plugins pages.
To add VSTs to LMMS, use the VeSTige Plugin to select and load the .dll file from the relevant VST.

Plugins all the way down.
I don't have the patience yet to fiddle around with VSTs since my Roland's presets are good enough for me, for now.
The Dream™ is to get up to making Eurobeat/Hardbass/Trance EDM and Power Metal, but plain old Ambiance like my Northern Tenma post is a good entry point for learning since I know jack squat about music theory.

One pro tip: Label tracks with preset number/preset name/note name. Keeps things clean like naming layers in drawings, and reinforces note names and positions.

Damn, imagine two cultural idiosyncrasies - Australian and Japanese - filtered into an English audience (read not American) and wonder why Kiara isn't picking up what you are putting down. Also, let's just all agree she is kinda crazy - makes it easier that way. She did have him on voice chat for the stream - so that's a step forward vs. the love ban limit some talents adhere to.

You know Cakewalk exists and is also free right? It let's you do everything you're currently limited on either of those DAWs you're using right now (Only catch is that it's Windows only and you have to make an account to use it.)
I'll also give special mention to Reaper (the same DAW Calli is currently using). It technically does have a price attached, however it is well known to not actually lock you out of using it after it's 60 day trial and instead just becomes nagware. (It's also one of the cheapest DAWs on the market as is with many a testimony claiming top tier stability).

As soon as I start reading youtube comments regarding "dad = x, mom = y, sister =z" I just fucking check out and pity those whose brains are so far rotten and gone through years of exhaustive "shipping", it is basically pointless to even establish communication.
