Interesting, I guess that's what quantity vs quality give at the end of the day. Having small talent number help intensify the parasocial relation between the talent and audience, while quantity make it feel more like a "sitcom", with the sheer amount of collabs happening, making them more loyal to the "show" rather than to the talents?

Sort of, but Japanese are also just prone to brand loyalty is part of the problem, so outside of few super attached fans, most support the company than the talents. Hololive avoids this by oddly enough making jokes about their parent company through Yagoo and as you said, by appealing more to parasocial relationships.
Unrelated to this, Narukami has had his YT account terminated because apparently another vtuber drama channel on Nico (I got no name on them other then they're called The Buddha?) pointed out that Narukami breaks Copyright laws by using the direct footage/material from the source and also uses character art without permission. So he got reported and copyright terminated by YT bot.

I mean I only watch the streams of a handful of vtubers, but they're mostly in different agencies, you don't really need to know all facts and memes about a specific company or group to watch their shit, maybe only really some Holos that depend on that a bit?
At the end of the day there's no reason to force yourself to get into shit, if you stumble onto some vtuber of another group or agency and you find them entertaining or interesting then watch them, easy as that really

Lulu second mario stream. Less progress this time since it's a shorter stream. Only managed to beat world 5 in about 4 hours. Made it to 6-4 but got a game over trying to figuring out the maze. She wrote down the routes she took the old school way and refuse to get help from the internet, even her chat. I can appreciate that.

I’ve been pushing her in the thread a lot. I think she and the rest of Sugar Lyric do a lot of cool stuff that isn’t like the rest of the Vtubers out there. She’s also a great singer.
I follow most of them but just tend to bounce from stream to stream when I get bored of one. If something I really want to watch comes up, I’ll just bookmark it and watch it over the weekend.
i mean, on any given day, more than half of them could be playing Apex, Ark and Minecraft, none of which I really care about watching.

I know they're all Minecraft amateurs, but I'd love to see what kind of crazy shit the EN shitposters would create. Every time I see the JP server, it blows my mind what they've made. I mean the JP server does have quite the lead with how long its been around, but I feel like they're just more creative in general. Maybe EN will get there some day.
