I have this weird schizo theory that it's mostly just some kind of shitposting culture that has been brought from the Japanese Internet. The Hololive thread on /jp/ for example loves to larp as Japanese to the point that they'd copy whatever mannerisms they get from the streamer board on 5ch. I want to believe that barely any of these people are actually serious at their disdain towards male vtubers. It's just weird that the incel types on /vt/ would hate other losers that are basically just like them.

Other than the unicorns a lot of people dislike the people male vtubers brought into the space and hate the male vtubers for that. Chinese fujos are the worst humans to exist. If you look at Zaion's suspension tweet, nearly all the people supporting it and wanting her to be gone for good are fujos or fags. Unicorns mostly just seethe and cry on vt, fujos actively work to get female members banned, they're way more vindictive. They're still actively doing everything they can, stalking her likes, her other accounts etc to argue she needs to stay gone.
Most people on vt were more supportive of StarsEN when they debuted, it was just unicorns initially but they soured when Magni invited Daph39 onto a stream and Altare started banning everyone and then later things like Altare saying "Gotta support the cause" when trannies were harassing Pikamee and Silvervale.
I think Vesper is a good litmus test because he's hated by both unicorns and fujos for collabing with girls, the fujos feel like he has betrayed and disrespected the rest of tempus somehow, to the extent they banned discussion of him from the tempus threads and he gets his own separate threads. Most normal people like Vesper or are indiifferent to him.

The personalities apparently attracted to being male vtubers are top tier cringe.
Typically when a new corpo tuber debuts they have some manufactured bits of their character they roleplay but typically that falls off after the first couple weeks and they get comfortable being more genuine. To this day I can't open one of the male streams without immediately wincing and closing out.

Imagine you spent your entire life cultivating an aesthetic to attract the male gaze only to lose out to someone who can just commission bigger booba for their model. You'd probably be mad too.
