General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I also had this number problem for awhile :(

Her model would've been around $800-1000 in total a few years ago, if she got it done in 2022.
Prices are inflated but not that much in the lower mid to mid range.

Most lower mid to mid range models are $1,500-4,000 (2D) and $300-3,000 (3D)
About $400-600 for model art and the rest for rigging if she went SEA.

Prices have skyrocketed since 2023, one of the reasons being that a lot of SEA workers went back to working on corporate things (anime, graphic design for products, vtubing companies) so there's less teams of them doing these sorts of services, mainly just Malaysia at this point.
There are SEA art studios outside of Malaysia doing these sorts of services still but just a lot less, meanwhile there's more independent artists either in the West or charging Western prices for things which is why the prices have hiked so much.
Thank you, I watched it half asleep. Im less impressed/surprised now

The two-class society between men and women at Nijisanji never ends. Termination for the victim vs separation for the sexpest :story:

and they really stopped the black text on white background announcements
They are very carefully avoiding saying he has been terminated because that would confirm his guilt. They KNOW he's guilty and they let it happen and they'll still cover for him because they think it protects their reputation, absolute fucking evil

In companies like Holo, Niji and maybe Phase, that's 1-1 the case, they just have a bunch of unused models stored on hard drives and when they hire someone, they assign a model and hash out stuff like lore/kayfabe afterwards.
That's definitely NOT the case in phase, maybe for some of origins but gen 2 and invaders onwards had a huge amount of control over their models, outside of Sakana telling the artists to give them bigger tits

At this point, it really seems like the most cost-effective option is to only pay an artist for the design and just bite the bullet and learn how to rig it yourself. The prices are just ridiculous, especially for an indie who's just starting out.
That's why I always suggest for people to start 3D. But someone can rig themselves as well to save on cost, yes.
3D is also favored by more streaming fans because you can be more expressive/interactive with watchers even if said fans/watchers prefer the pretty 2D style.
2D is just more limiting unless you have lots of money to throw at it. Even if you can as a new streamer, unless you're lined up and cashed out, it's never suggested.

For a few hundred and a $42 web cam you can get a custom 3D model, plop it in Warudo (free 3D tracking program) and wave to viewers that come in. For an adult that's a feasible cost. (Roughly $300 if you get a decent artist that uses VRoid as a base with custom blendshapes [For example if a talent wants like a hair clip or unique necklace] )
If the talent doesn't care about brand recognition and wants to get into tracked streaming they can just buy a premade, and plop it into any 3D programming (or just use the stock character, so long as they're not making money off of streaming), again, one of the best cameras that can do full body tracking with XR animator and upper body/face is $42.
Some booth artists let you make revenue while streaming but for obvious reasons you cannot have merch be made with your character design. Silly Filly

An example of Warudo's upper body tracking and animations with it's stock character, under a minute.

You can get better with XR Animator's full tracking but you'll probably have to route into VSeeFace and nothing kills PCs as much as these two things:
1) Video editing/animation and general rendering
2) 3D vtube tracking, since it's effectively like time rendering

Most people that do full tracking streams usually use a patchwork of tech and methods to achieve what they can afford and think looks best but 3D is the cheapest to get into especially if you do the good old slap your VRM into VSeeFace.

Finally, I get to sperg out about the technical aspects of the medium, feelsgreatman.

Edit: The camera is now $42 instead of the initial $60 I stated.

I find the fact someone here had to resort to a FOIA to find solid proof, just for some random retards to have this information for months and use it purely to send pizzas and randomly show up to her house is funny.
She deeply enrages the browns for some reason (they're all pedophiles so it's not that) so maybe by helping one of them find her the Farms will finally live up to its rep and get somebody killed.

Her opsec was not terrible. I'd be annoyed, if I were her, that her parents basically dumped her full data into a public record via 911/non-emergency.

Strong argument for using a lawyer for this sort of thing, or establishing a family office if you are at that level. Even with no investments, her net worth has gotta be >$4 million, I'd believe $14 mil if it was claimed.
