"I know I may get crap for saying this.
But, there's no time like right now to be honest about it.

I know people would often name drop VShojo when I said I wanted a home. Especially after I had the hardest experience of my life 2.5 years ago.
And I never shared the real reason I was more aggressive towards them/shutting down that idea.

2 years ago, on the 7th of February 2023, a kind friend helped me through the insane turmoil and panic I was feeling from being locked out of the accounts I had at the time. They knew Gunrun personally and offered to connect us, because he also thought that he could help me. As desperate and determined as I was to find a solution that would help not just me but others who were still in Niji too, I jumped at this chance.

The 3 of us talked in person and I told Gunrun about everything that that one girl had experienced and seen while in Niji. Everything from the unfairness of staff, the small percentage from merch, how trapped and hopeless it felt for her to fight back or just exist there though she tried so hard.
And then, I pitched my idea.

What if that girl and several others left, and they made a gen of ex-Nijis in VShojo. Would he be willing to help them create a better future together.
To my surprise he said he liked the idea, and asked me, who else did she think would be interested in leaving with her to do this. She honestly didn't know too many of the people there that well in her short time, but she named a few who had been friends to her and she knew in private. She really wanted to help those there, and we spent the night brainstorming and talking about this.
After showing some considerable interest to my surprise, Gunrun then introduced me to one of the managers at the time so I could tell them the same story. Gunrun told me that he wanted to help and that this sounded like a plan, and simply had to wait for Niji and I to part ways. I remember having so many feelings of relief and confidence. I felt like I'd found my hope.

Of course, the one girl was terminated, doxxed, and no help was offered. Even months later, I would reach out to him again and, like we had never spoken, he gave me a surface level response.

I want to apologize to anyone who asked in the past about this, for being angrier than I would have been if this hadn't been the case. This is also where my comment of saying what I did about VShojo as a whole came from in the past. It wasn't the other people's fault. Unfortunately I really just felt trapped and abandoned all those years ago and even now, I remember how it felt.I hope this explains why for so long, I felt like I wasn't worth "saving", I felt like I had no value, I felt like "why just me, left out?"I know I dodged a bullet. But part of me still wished I could've suffered together with others that I wanted to be with as allies instead of being a reject.

(To protect the privacy of those involved, I will not share names of anyone. But after that, we only corresponded through an app called Signal that erases the logs of chats after a certain period of time, so I do not have any logs of this nor the contacts due to this being several phones ago.)"

mfw this all transpired before Beribug ever joined Vbozo

It feels like these girls only join corpos because 'it's their dream' to be in same corpo as Kson or whatever other Vtuber they admire. Beri mentions that Vshojo's implosion will 'cost her opportunities' but I'm scratching my head trying to think of any. You're an indie, you can collab with anyone you want, say whatever you want, make any songs you want, make any merch you want, any plushies you want. Having a corpo take 60% of your money would only hinder that, right?

Maybe they just feel like they cannot pursue their ambitions unless they feel like they have a support team (of men)?

Can any Corpofags please explain, or give examples of corps doing really good things for their talent? Phase must be really good, right? I mean, they got marimari_en to join and she's... average intelligence.

I'm starting my own corpo and calling it 60% - in reference to how much of your money I'm keeping - and the JP branch will be called 90%.

Vshojo is proof proof that a corporation can be either evil or incompetent. Once it becomes both, disaster strikes.

So when done correctly, Corpos handle the technical stuff that you and your manager (boyfriend) don't have to. Merch, sponsorships, songs, concerts, and most of all you have a good name in your corner to get those things. "Freedom" in the Indie scene is a trick of the light, because if you say anything bad about someone popular or espouse an unpopular opinion then you are fucked. So you still have censorship, but self imposed. And at that point it's really a matter of whether you prefer playing games you want or making more money. And let's be honest, you can always play those games in your time off, with the money you got from doing a song and dance for a label

There's that but there's also the fact that women need security and to feel protected. What better way for them to do that then to get in with a company that will take care of the hard/behind the scenes things so they can just focus streaming? Also, being in a company gets you clout that does not come with being an indie. Marimari_EN talked about it when she was telling why she joined Phase. She would have artists and production companies ghost her when she wanted to get merch done because they do not respect indies. It's probably a cosmopolitan of all three and then some.

Hololive, when it makes a mistake, does everything it can to actually fix it. Thats more than what some corpos do.

Hololive also has provided support to its talents and has typically been pretty good on support. Permissions is of course something that has always been an issue but it makes sense given Nintendo is a company you don't want to fuck with when a good portion of your talents relies on their games.

Hololive has also has several cases of getting its talents out of rough spots:

Kanata was poor as fuck and practically living in a pod. She went from eating grass for dinner to eating steaks and eating very well.

Suisei going from a literal who to finally reaching her dreams of the Budokan.

Their attempts to defend Rushia when unicorns went after her for having a husband. They straight up said that the relationships of their talents is not their business. They only terminated her after she was giving personal information about other talents (Shion, Aqua as the most notable) out to Japanese keemstar.

When they forced Mori to take a break after her surgery even as she tried to stream.

Their efforts to retain talents which have worked fairly well. All the talents who left on their own terms (aka, the ones who didnt get terminated) left because of various personal reasons:

Aqua (now Sakuna) left due to a chronic health issue which has her going to the hospital often.

Shion (now Roa): left due to health reasons and burn out (she had been around for around 6 years).

Fauna (now Nimi): most likely left because she is married and since she wants to have a family of her own? Probably difficult to maintain a balance between idol work and family life.

Coco (now Kson): Left because of the targeting by Wumaos against her, Hololive, and Haachama.

Ame (Dooby): Most likely left because she wanted to do more 3D stuff. While she does show up from time to time, Hololive is a rarity for her to appear for now.

Gura (now Saba): probably japanese autism with permissions.

All in all, Hololive is one of the better corpos out there. I mean, the fact that Natsumi Moe (Shiori Novella) has stayed there thus far is evidence enough if you know her history with corpos (Eileen).

Sayu will never stop being the funniest sad clown even if she didnt really deserve most of what has happened to her, but she is still kinda retarded

Basically life is crap if you are small streamer/vtuber. You have zero pull, everyone from artists to merch companies and sponsors either don't even answer to you or put you to bottom of the priority list. Corpos help with all this, not getting any contracts in future is big fear for most partners. And sponsors often take the easy route in hiring. Enforcing contracts against companies is much simpler.

Ofc, if you are in top 100 you do not need corporation anymore as you have money and your viewer base is big enough to matter. But that is not average vtuber or streamer.

I thought NOVA's IPs were a lease? Will they continue their activities under the same chuubas or will they have to rebrand?

I watched part of NOVA (I am working on transcription for it too) but they all have hinted at talking to the JP branch staff regarding their activities. Its probable that they keep those IPs given Nazuna was also a lease from what I recall. So NOVA themselves will probably stay the same identities.

It's relatively up in the air at this point if we take the word of that JP branch head Kson had on yesterday. Talking about the future of the JP talents he said that Henya and Kson would be fine going indie and taking their managers with them. But with NOVA specifically he said it was still undetermined because they "weren't in the black yet" (not "paid off" yet for their models and stuff I would imagine)

Nazuna on the other hand surely had recouped her expenses as she stayed on for a full year and got a decent outpouring of support at the time.

Hopefully the NOVA girls get their shit, also iirc one of them, Hestia Happiness, was a pre existing JP indie so they'll certainly keep their stuff. And if you look at the departure tweets you'll notice she's the only one that says she's going indie, the others only say they are "parting ways with Vshojo" which is ambiguous compared to Hestia's.

I would imagine they're owed money like everyone else is apparently with Vshojo. If that is the case it could be a situation where they would have to pay a nominal fee to make up the difference, or Vshojo legally relinquishes their rights to them if the back pay that is owed is greater than the balance of the models/assets.

I first found Phoebe through Sister Abigail. I watched her on and off again until she went on hiatus to become smol frogee Amami Ami which my dumbass didn't even realize at the time. Then Prism folded and a year or something like that later she shelves the Ami character. I don't know if she talked or hinted at it in her streams but she was going to be part of the new Vshojo gen and dropping Ami was a prerequisite to getting in...and then they strung her along ever since. Not having the second channel cut a significant portion of her income which she and we all now know was a pointless sacrifice. It was dropped on her that she would have to fully self-fund her 5 year anniversary album that Vshojo they would take care of. The reasoning was that her 5 year anniversary would come BEFORE her debut, the debut that THEY kept pushing back, so Vshojo no longer considered it their problem. She goes on to say how even though she was so close to debut that almost ALL of her art and assets are either incomplete or nonexistent due to poor communication and non payment. I, as an outsider who has no connection to any party involved, can only describe this as either complete incompetence by Vshojo or willful maliciousness and sabotage. She doesn't even have art or rigging set up for her new 2.5 model which I assume means she has, at best, a reference sheet only. She does not blame the staff that worked directly with her for all of this but she does blame Vshojo. Her comments along with others from other now former talents are an indictment on the upper management of Vshojo.

I hope that whatever boat Gunrun bought with his money sinks 12 miles off the coast.
