I do feel bad for Kiara. Her real personality was really overlooked because of her act. She admitted to feeling inferior to Gura not that long ago, and it makes me think she's pretty insecure and doesn't want to be seen as just an accessory to Calli.

Because there's too much weirdness around this discussion, to be entirely clear: I am not saying that Kiara and Calli are broken up lovers, or that they are no longer friends. There has never been evidence of an internal fight at Hololive to my knowledge, all of the girls are literally coworkers, and seeing anything deeper then that should make you consider staying off internet for a while.

Also, it's statistically very improbable that more than, like, two girls in Hololive are bisexual or lesbian. I personally don't understand the lesbian kayfabe stuff with idols. The "gayfabe", if you will. It always creates toxic fandoms that fetishize normal stuff.

I do think there's been a slight wedge between Kiara and Calli. They're still friends obviously, but while Kiara was still in Japan they seemed to hang out off-stream fairly often. When they went on their trip together Calli was even fine with spending 3000$ on a room for a single night. It's obvious to tell that they were genuinely close friends.

Fast forward a few months, Kiara moves back to Austria. Calli, no longer being able to hang around with Kiara, starts to hang out with the Trash Taste people. I don't think it's far-fetched to believe that there's been some distance growing because of those 2 rather large factors.

She set herself up to fail since day one. Probably thinking Hololive as “idol company” hence she used all old idol trick in the book and “yuri sell”. Gura and Amelia understand what’s sell and what not sell since their streaming background and everything just naturally comes more organically than the whole Takamori thing. I guess the chicken try too hard and set herself for failure when her best niches “Takamori” is only good for generating fanfics no more no less.
Kinda nice that she’s finally put it to rest and focus more on doing things other.

Heck, her cosplay cooking show is pretty good so she should just make it a weekly show and introduce JP and the rest of the world European dishes or butchering those dishes the German way (especially when German cook Italians or French food). This is utilizing her avatar as a “restaurant owner” and her weekly cooking show just make more sense. Later when EN girls can visit one another, an offline cooking collab with Gura would be perfect.

Kiara just makes things hard on herself but then again it's also part of her personally - she wears everything publicly but is also super insecure (or at least comes across that way). Calli and her are friendly but both have other interests - that's why Kiara and Nene get along and Calli and Kornii get along.

I don't always watch Selen, but when I do, she's a treasure. She's basically Korone but "edgy" instead of adorable.

One of the best EN girls to just sit down and watch. Good enough to handicap herself - no D-pad, spacing and spazzing out, impatient, refuses to learn or take advice sometimes and then promptly forgets the advice she takes - and is still better at games then most people.

The perfect blend of practical effects and visual effects. Still, she looks similar when she streams. It's also pretty common to be this outrageous in Japan so it's not just her personality.

Well it's important to clarify that she's only dispelling any idea that there's no want for rivalry or competition from her perspective. That's understandable given she's twice the age of some of them and it'd be pretty ridiculous for her to hop in wanting to mop up teens and early 20's J-Zoomers.

But on the other end of the spectrum, AkiRose has very, very bluntly stated that V-Tubing is a numbers game; and she does place value and her own self-worth in her numbers. Does this mean Aki is some MenHera bitch? No, but I wouldn't be surprised if the desire to 'overtake' Mel and free herself of being on 'the bottom of Hololive' hasn't crossed her mind at least once.

The idea that no one is looking over their shoulders at others' numbers and using it as motivation is pretty unrealistic. Plenty of them are probably doing it. YouTube's Dashboard literally greets content creators with messages like 'Your number of new viewers are down 40% from last week', 'Viewer retention is down', 'Less people engaged with [song cover] within the first 24 hours than [previous song cover].' How can they do anything BUT start falling into that mindset?

So Botan doesn't really answer the question as a whole, just that she personally isn't a part of it. I realise that's what you're getting at too but I'm speaking more towards the clip and how I feel people may interpret it to mean 'Botan doesn't see competition therefore there is none'.

It's cool how much Flare and Lamy have turned into something like sleeper hits for their generations over this year. Lamy especially has really come into her own in the past few months and her fans are really dedicated. I'm usually not a numberfag, but it's interesting to look at how some of them have more people consistently watching them than people with ~2x as many subscribers with similar amounts of hours streamed.

I think we can give both Aki and Botan some credit. Aki spills some beans that most Japanese wouldn't but also was given just a phone and told to stream when she started. Many of the first gens have good stories about thinking of quitting though I would be surprised if Aki still fed off number like she did when she was ~300k. She gets steady views and has a dedicated fanbase - people even learning the made up Elvish language she sang in.

As for Botan - it helps that her gen is so strong: Botan and Polka are old hands at streaming, Nene a former idol and obsessive fan and Lamy is well adjusted and carved her niche easily (also wealthy I believe). If the Hololive managers are just looking at stats I think they are missing the picture and luckily the talents seem to have a good amount of input into their activities.

This is partially tangnetial, but just the other day I saw a clipper channel make a poll asking people who their favourite Council member is so far, and the top comments underneath were all 'We shouldn't make these polls because what if they see it and start to feel bad about themselves?'

So if Kiara herself says she wants to walk back her entire Holo careers' worth of yuribaiting then she will get her way by virtue of the fanbase in general being so malleable.

I'd say it's a few more than couple. Just off the of my head there's Kiara, Marine, Ame and Matsuri. However thinking most of the girls are bi or something is definitely a problem. Just for example I see no reason to think Mumei, IRyS, Calli, or Ina are gay. So people definitely take this too far.
As for TakaMori.

People are now just realizing how uncomfortable Takamori is..... did people really just interpret Cali as tsundere, she's pretty much always seemed uncomfortable with it and if you know her past life you would know why.

Not actually tsundere, but exaggerating her reactions for entertainment reasons. Like how Kiara's flerting was an exaggeration of her teasing. Given how Kiara said she doesn't want to keep doing this it seems she doesn't want to do the same gimmick again and again, known as one trick pony. And I got a feeling Calli might've grown genuinely uncomfortable because of how people took it so fucking seriously. And honestly, I can't blame them.

Ehh, blaming only her seems wrong. Seems like something that got out of hard and didn't know how to stop. So she kept doing it because of that, only making it worse. It is definitely a problem, and I think originates from insecurity. This happened with Bottom Left meme too, she feels insecure about putting her foot down until things have gotten too bad to ignore. However, not necessarily her who made it so bad; if people would be so creepy and treat it seriously I don't think she'd stop doing it. It's also definitely the fault of certain types of fans who need to touch grass and realize that it's just a single joke and nothing serious.

You could tell how much they wanted to hang out in person during the anniversary stream though. Hopefully the Covid stuff has died down enough that they can be in-person with each other soon.
