All TTRPG campaigns are doomed from the start. I could count those that were actually completed (from my experience at least) on the fingers of one hand. Having barely any expectations is the key to enjoying tabletop games.

Having an extremely long story arc for a new group is a beginner's mistake. You should ideally aim to finish the first arc after 3-4 sessions whereupon substitutions can be made. Or just do a series of one-shots to feel out the group. To be honest, FATE probably would have been a better option for MUH STORYGAEMZ and it would have been a lot easier to explain the rules to the group. But it's not exactly a household name among wigger mallgoths like WoD stuff is.

Also FATE would let them play the Dresden Files RPG which would have probably fit the tone better (WoD is more horror played straight whereas Dresden Files lets itself be a little more campy with its tone).
