"that started it all" is wrong right out of the gate.

It had already started otherwise the superchat wouldn't have happened. It's weird how when Ollie chews out superchatters bitching about her not speaking Indonesian everyone cheers, but in this situation it's Calli that's in the wrong. People were gonna keep bitching about Calli/Connor regardless of if she responded or not.

Personally I'm glad she actually tardwrangles her viewers when they act like idiots.

Aren't Superchats arguably the least important method that corpo Vtubers make money. I can't remember the exact amount, but Rushia is the top superchatted and has gotten just over $3,000,000 total since monetization began. Gura has over 3 million subs, and i know that every one isn't a $5 member, but hypothetically if they were she would make 5 times that same amount amount from memberships in one month. Superchats matter a lot to small view indies but to the big dogs they actually aren't that important outside of numberfagging. This isn't even mentioning sponsor ships, merch, and other brand deals.

Yes but given the context of this situation with Calli's "policy" being specifically about Superchats than the rest of that explanation is beside the point.

Well actually no, because Tako was asking the likelihood of management reprimanding Calli for her (dumb) policy since she is the cashcow. I pointed out that assuming she is the cashcow on superchats alone is jumping the gun since memberships (especially higher level memberships) have the potential to make much more money over time. Remember the difference in the year+ of monetization between Calli's total Superchats and Gura's is only $332,621 (with Kiaras total in between the 2), a significant difference in memberships can make up than difference really quickly and we have no way of checking that. My argument was that Calli might actually be the second place or even third place earnier in HoloEn.

Edit: My post actually had very little to do with the Calli/Connor situation and aforementioned dumb policy. It doesn't surprise me she walked it back though, either she realized that actually making this a policy ( and announcing it) didn't just inviter antis/trolls it explicitly told them a way to make her interact with them and cause drama (which is most of what they want); or one of the other members explained what a bad idea this was, or maybe management itself called her up and said "What the fuck Karen".

I kinda assumed she was on the West Coast based on stream time and things she mentioned. Specifically the Pacific Northwest, Canada. British-Columbia has a shitload of Chinese.

Who has said Calli is in the wrong? Literally everywhere (here, reddit, YT) I've seen, everyone has said how awesome and based this was. About the only critism I've seen maybe is that she should have just ignored it from the getgo. But the problem is she was just blindly reading SC and didn't pre-read, so it was too late by the time she realized what the SC was about. And now she says she's going to stop doing that.

The only people that might take an issue are those on /vt/ but nobody is really going to take that seriously as they are just going to find something to flip out about anyway no matter what.
