General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Idk why anyone would think that she would think that graduating is a good idea. Having Cover around for connections is only good for her. Her DDK persona benefits from Cover's connections because she is able to put her foot in as Calli.
I swear to Christ himself I'm not making it up when I see diehard fans of Calli say she should quit and that she's "too real" for Cover.

Is it some sort of nepotism when apex predator have less points then solo master Aqua? Astel, in order to reduce the number of points will have to focus on a fairly useless (good for trolling) legend. How about gorilla restriction?
Hal said he made a mistake and that his score is actually 10.

Preds should be 11 but, much like Astel, those one or two point differences have a huge impact on the types of teams they can make. Master and Pred are basically the same rank, and not necessarily divided by skill, so making it so one gets a weaker team than the other has evidently been deemed unfair.

Plus, not everyone knows everyone else. It's easy for a Niji to look at others in their huge JP branch to make teams (which is why they make up like 50% of the roster), but the same isn't true for, say, Astel, who doesn't network as much and would probably be hesitant to ask strangers to play for him (Choco and RBC actually approached him, not the other way around).

In the case of Aqua, Hal says himself he isn't sure about the score, but he probably felt it was best to just tune her to the same score as Matsuri rather than try and do baseless guesswork. If, for example, he gave her 8pts, that means Towa could have had Aqua and another Diamond player, and if Aqua turned out to be just as cracked in a tournament then suddenly their team looks busted and other Masters will probably take issue with it.

Just catching up on the Calli announcement VOD this morning. Re: her full length album, looking forward to the tracks by Pretty Patterns and Herb Shop (Boogie Voxx being featured is a nice bonus).
If you didn't know the Herb Shop track with Boogie Voxx isn't new, This is just the first time it's going to get an Album/EP release

Personally though if we're talking Boogie Voxx collab tracks I think the one from BV's album was the stronger of the two songs they did together.

I really hope Calli did not get some big head and forgot it was Holo that launched her music career higher than ever before. I know its a reach, but a success can change people for better or worse
FWIW from all the stuff I watch of her on Calli and on Dice I've never seen any implication of it. Bout the only places I see much of that notion are Luller's regular reminders that he saw someone say it before and then the /vt/ dramafags that just want a different EN member to quit every other week.

She'd probably be "ok" without holo at this point but well, think of it this way, she's hyped to make "the biggest announcement of her musical career" in her words on her birthday next month, and planning out MVs for the album, some fully animated and planned for release at the end of 2022. That's not the pattern of someone thinking of leaving or anything of the sort.

SHIBUYA HAL V-SAIKYO TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS:

I know people aren't very interested in APEX but it's worth talking about. In my opinion, these events are less about the game and more about the wacky combinations of members you'll rarely see interact with one another. These tournaments have had some genuinely top-tier anime moments, and they're worth checking out.

Without further ado, the teams + Hal's commentary:

Team 1: Kuzuha, Ibrahim, Kou
View attachment 3083276
Hal: Kou actually reached Diamond IV after the cut-off period, so this team is technically above the point threshold, but he has to draw the line somewhere to organise.

Team 2: Chihiro, Ratna, KaidaView attachment 3083278

Team 3: Uruha, Kanae, FairysView attachment 3083280
Hal: He seemed to imply that once of them actually rejected the invitation to be a leader (I am guessing Kanae).

Team 4: Pakael, Ren, RiriView attachment 3083282

Team 5: Sara, Matsuri, Sena
View attachment 3083284

Team 6: Noah, Ex Albio, Reimu
View attachment 3083285
Hal: He doesn't know much about Reimu, but is happy that his tournament is becoming more international. Japanese fans joked that her Japanese is better than Ex Albio's.

Scuttle: Believe it or not, despite my love of Nijisanji, Kurumi Noah is my Oshi, so it works out really nicely that she's also the one who did this and gave Reimu some experience on the big stage. Reimu is a big Astel fan and said she talks to him a lot, so I'm expecting this to lead to some cool interactions.

Team 7: Ars, Rena, UndecidedView attachment 3083287
Hal: There's a couple of teams with undetermined members but he expects they'll be filled before the tournament.

Team 8: Reid, Ema, DeronView attachment 3083288
Hal: He feels that Deron only being worth 3pts is criminal, as she allegedly reached Master in the Ranked Arenas mode. I'm not sure if this is a joke or not as I don't watch Deron play APEX that much.

Team 9: Hima, Ririmu, YashiroView attachment 3083292
Hal: Hima was supposed to join the last tournament but couldn't due to complications with the minimum requirement to make a team.

Team 10: Met, Chigusa, AxiaView attachment 3083293

Team 11: Meika, OdaNobu, BeniView attachment 3083294
Hal: This is the exact same team that was in the last tournament, and they've improved a lot since then.

Team 12: Akina, Fuwa, Mayuzumi (Meshers)View attachment 3083295
Hal: He noted that they initially didn't meet the minimum requirement to get in the tournament, and lauded Akina for working his ass off to get into Diamond so they could play together.

Team 13: Shiina, Naraka, NaruView attachment 3083298

Team 14: Hinano, Miyako, NazunaView attachment 3083299
Hal: He thinks this team is very strong. With a dedicated Gibby like Miyako, Hinano doesn't have to fill the role and can do what she does best.

Team 15: Sumire, Lisa, UndecidedView attachment 3083300

Team 16: Astel, Rene, KotoneView attachment 3083301
Hal: Astel commented that he was struggling to find teammates whilst his point value was 10pts, so Hal dropped it to 9 under the restriction that he is only allowed to play as Mad Maggie.

Team 17: Virtual Gorilla, Siro, Warabe
View attachment 3083303

And then the first bombshell announcement:

Team 18: Towa, Aqua, Suisei
View attachment 3083304
Hal: He isn't sure if Aqua is worth 10pts as she has no tournament experience, and isn't sure how much of her ranked grind will translate to becoming an IGL against other organised teams. He says that getting to Master solo has to be worth something, though, so it works out.

Then Shibuya Hal announced the first generation of NEO-PORTE members.

...And then immediately threw them into the tournament, making up the last two teams.

Team 19: Nayuta, Yui, NiuView attachment 3083320

Team 20: Minase, Inu, ForteView attachment 3083322
Hal: As part of their induction, they were required to tell him their highest rank in APEX, so this is their starting point.

It was galaxy brain of Hal to debut his 1st gen whilst 120K people were watching the stream, and putting them straight into action will work really well.

Standouts are Noah's team as Reimu represents the first foreigner to participate, Sara's team as her and Matsuri are together, and Towa's team as the long-awaited wish for people to see Aqua go up against a handful of the V-Tuber monsters becomes a reality.
Might be Goslingfagging as hell, but the fact Reimu's there makes me feel bad for Selen. She came in with all the hype of this god-tier Apex ex-pred who's gonna be one of the best in Niji, but then failed to really accomplish much, and now her branchmate is getting picked over her for what's essentially the biggest Apex event that's not some fittingly named e-sports brand putting its own guys over. Of course nobody is gonna shit on her for it, that would be retarded, but I can't imagine how crushing that sort of scenario must be to someone's morale. It was part of why the OTK invitational honestly felt painful to watch.

the /vt/ dramafags that just want a different EN member to quit every other week.
I don't browse /vt/, but more broadly I don't recall ever seeing anyone try to claim that Gura is going to quit, and I suspect that if they ever did pop up no one would take them seriously. This is the 100% perfect apex job for her, and I think she knows it. Hopefully she's stockpiling money to start that pressure-washing business someday.

Yuki, please don't come here. This isn't a good place.

Thanks for the reminder. I probably listened to that track just once post-launch and promptly forgot it existed. And here I thought the one on the album would be a new one. I do like their collab on the 'Crown' track better though.

Thanks for spoiling the album release Kronii kek
Kronii pon saga keeps giving. It works so well with her perfection kayfabe that I'd question if it was deliberate if she wasn't so genuinely salty over some of it.

So Matsuri reeled Hoshikawa in, good for her.
Matsuri has been on a pretty good menhera redemption arc, I wonder how or why it happened. I 'd say she saw what happened to Rushia but she made up with haachama before that

I think they said at the start she was going to quit and re-debut as her old self. That fizzled out quickly tho as /vt/ latched onto Kiara and Calli.

You can't stop her, you can only hope she sees we're not the worst fanbase.

@EenGevolg

It's more to do with Selen not speaking any Japanese. She is a Master player, and a very good one at that, so 10pts out of a total 18 is a lot for a leader to spend on someone that doesn't speak their language. Towa, for example, is going to prefer spending 10pts on Aqua, Astel, Paka, or Gorilla than she is Selen and it's nothing to do with skill or expectation.

Reimu, on the other hand, is the weakest player on the team in terms of rank, but speaks the language and only costs like 3pts, so Kurumi can spend more on a Diamond player. Noah has also talked about Reimu on stream so I think it was a personal request rather than a strictly tactical one. There are plenty of high Plat players Noah knows.

Selen is MUCH more valuable in CR Cup which has point deduction rules for women and foreigners (to which Selen is obviously both) but is a really bad pick for V-Saikyo. It's just kind of how it is for her until she does her reps and learns Japanese like she said she would. It goes without saying that you have more opportunities the more languages you can speak.

Edit: Selen is a Pred player in V-Saikyo, which counts lifetime highest rank, so it's even worse for her. CR Cup again might be more lenient on that and let her be a Master.

Gura rrating has been more along the lines of "Who is going to beat her at being the most popular Vtuber" aka the Gura killer bs, i have never heard people saying she's gonna graduate.
