The recent pullbacks of stuff like strong zero is less about the energy drink/caffiene (which is what people seem upset about the Niji stream about and what the energy drink company put out a statement regarding directly related to the Niji stream)

Japan in general is pushing for just less alcohol in general with a single can of Strong Zero at current being over what the government says women should consume in a day in terms of alcohol content. with the government saying that drinking even a single can of beer a day increases cancer risks. So a lot of the companies are moving toward putting out new lines of lower alcohol content drinks (3.5% instead of 8% or higher)

The Ministry of Health says that consuming more than 40 grams for men and 20 grams for women increases the risk of lifestyle diseases like cancer. 20 grams of alcohol is the equivalent of two glasses of wine at 12% alcohol.

This movement doesn’t just come from the government or the alcohol companies. The market for the Strong series is gradually shrinking as health awareness rises. This is especially true among youth who label themselves “sober curious.” Sober curious people are those who are “not suppressing their desire to drink alcohol, but those who are choosing a lifestyle without drinking in a positive mindset,” according to Asahi Group Holdings.

Fewer young people in Japan are also swearing off alcohol entirely. Non-alcoholic bars and non-alcoholic beer brands have risen as the market for those seeking a booze-free experience continues to swell.

So ironically the niji stream of them taking an alcoholic drink and further watering it down by cutting it 50/50 with a non alcoholic drink ought to be desirable. Even more so when the particular choice of alcohol they chose to use was a specifically reduced alcohol content variety.

But I Digress because there's not much accounting for general Japanese autism about social responsibility and never "promoting" bad behavior. This is the same country that lost their shit over Gundou's shitpost about baseball being unsportsmanlike.

Has anyone heard from Abigail Dovely? We're getting close to a year since she went on hiatus. I've missed every single one of her spontaneous streams because she doesn't advertise them. I remember someone saying like half a year back that she was pretty active in her discord. I just hope she's doing good and that ministry thing that finally got off the ground is doing gangbusters.

Shoeonhead and Revsaysdesu are definitely part of the 'meta' for vtuber reaction videos. After watching a couple of Alana's videos, started to get recommendations for other channels doing reactions to different videos from the same people.

This was one such channel, with just 4.25 thousand subscribers. The difference in views from her oldest gaming videos and reactions to videos from those specific channels is rather stark.

I'd wager that youtube's promotion algorithms also promote videos reacting to those specific channels, because the channel growth just skyrocketed after those videos were uploaded. Since her 3500 subscriber milestone video last week, she's already gained 700+ more. While it could be easy to dismiss it as just botting, I'm inclined to think it's just that centre-right leaning content is the new 'meta' for vtuber reactions.

Her twitch streams get ~500 views consistently and the chat seems authentic so I doubt that's manipulated either. Her twitter page doesn't show any strange behaviour, just another vtuber who started off as an instagram artist before making the jump to twitch streaming in 2023.

Reacting to right-leaning videos is a surefire way to grow a new or low-sub/view vtuber channel, I'd expect to see a lot more new reaction vtuber videos popping up in the following months aping this strategy.

edit: From her most recent stream today it sounds like even she is familiar with Kirsche. The Pippa-Kirsche connection is the other thing all these vtubers have in common.

Shinri had something called Danger Curry on stream with Gavis "Negative Luck" Bettel and with Hakka later on. Bettel decided to retire to his room.

While Shinri and Hakka were playing with helium...

Bettel was suffering because of his bad luck. Somehow, he almost flooded his apartment.
