General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

During the Hololive EN Justice's watch-a-long for EXPO25, Gigi took control of the Ouro Kronii rig. This is because the talent behind Kronii was absent from her seat for a good chunk of the stream (giving massages or just being absent), and since Gigi was closest to that spot she was getting picked up and controlling both rigs simultaneously. The group just went with it as Kronii occasionally cheered and provided her usual low-energy commentary while GG picked up the slack visually.

Gigi embraced the situation to make Kronii's rig say things that would be out of character and immediately went to saying repeatedly/jokingly how life is worth living, people shouldn't kill themselves, how happy she is, and that she loves life and will never kill herself. This became the catchphrase for Gigi-Kronii throughout the stream. Cecelia joked about not being able to be happy for someone else and they have to learn it on their own and Raora tried to get in on it near the end despite her endearing linguistic limitations.

At the end Gigi asks Kronii if there is anything she wants to say before the ends and volunteers to mouth the words for her. Kronii gives a low-energy sign off amongst the giggles of the group as they claim life is worth living (despite Kronii's protests) and singing Bob Marley's Everything's Gonna Be Alright.

(Don't) Kill Yourself, I'm Not Happy, Everything's Gonna Be Alright

Given this post and the subsequent responses, it seems that Kronii is known to be a generally unhappy person which isn't terribly remarkable in itself. What does stand out is that Gigi's inverse representation of Kronii keeps on repeating how happy she is while advocating against suicide, and that being readily accepted as being a very accurate misrepresentation (so to speak).

To be clear, I don't think there was any real malice from the Justice group. Inasmuch as Kronii has incorporated being more on the gloomy side into her persona from the outset she will have cultivated an insensitivity to actual unhappiness ("that's just Kronii") and undermined some red flags if she were to suffer from depression. Honestly though, it would be easier to take all this as more of a joke if it didn't complement what had already been established about her.

So I am curious; is the talent behind Kronii simply a generally unhappy person as some say, or does she actually have a more serious depressive disorder?

I was just gonna make a joke about how Kronii's strangely upbeat message earlier this week was clearly just Gigi possessing her.
On a more serious note no I don't think Kronii is actually as depressed as she plays up for the character (if she was she likely wouldn't even be capable of streaming) in the same way that out of character Gigi probably isn't quite that upbeat and loud constantly.

Kronii's doomerism has always been played up by just her own dark/deadpan sense of humor making it seem worse.

Gigi's talks about her family alone make me think she's probably had a troubled home life for years. Her story about her tanking schizo aggro from her mom's ex by just letting him constantly blow up her phone to complain about her mom instead of letting the guy actually contact her mom just screams "this wasn't a one time thing she's probably been dealing with her single mom's weird relationship shit her whole life"

The Next Holofes stage is starting soon, this time it's the "Creator Stage" which just features a whole bunch of talents who produce original music and from what I've seen it's going to be in a shuffle format with members covering eachothers songs.
Talent list is.... (copy pasting from another place)

Tokino Sora, Robocosan, AZKi, Sakura Miko, Hoshimachi Suisei, Nakiri Ayame, Oozora Subaru, Ookami Mio, Nekomata Okayu, Usada Pekora, Shiranui Flare, Shirogane Noel, Houshou Marine, Tsunomaki Watame, Tokoyami Towa, Momosuzu Nene, Takane Lui, Hakui Koyori, Moona Hoshinova, Airani Iofifteen, Kureiji Ollie, Vestia Zeta, Kobo Kanaeru, Mori Calliope, Takanashi Kiara, IRyS, Hakos Baelz, Koseki Bijou, Nerissa Ravencroft, Fuwawa Abyssgard, Mococo Abyssgard

Man usually male Vtubers in Japan do alright, but I Guess they cater towards certain audiences.
Poor bastards.
UUUM has had some scandals where they aren't supporting the people under their brands/label/whatever it's trying to be. I believe it's closer to Mythic then any of the other vtuber companies.
For some reason I thought hololive vtubers couldn't stream with their past vtuber accounts.
Bettel Gavis streaming now on his past account.
That's Niji and others. Calli literally put out an album under Demon Dice. It's why when people leave because they can't stream what they want falls on deaf ears to me. Feel free or work on something else.

She's a young Canadian woman who wanted to be a VA and had to get jaw surgery because of a TMJ disorder, none of which are usually happy people things. She was pretty happy to get a kitten back in 2022 at least, but it died shortly after she got it.

I think she also used to talk about a family member that was an asshole and they had to get the cops involved, but I can't find a source so it could be a hallucination or a mix-up with any of numerous other vtubers with messed up family lives.

I honestly watched Tonkatsu Sinclair for a while because I liked her (referring to the character, not the creator to try and avoid any confusion) commentary on anime, especially her teardown of the character of Yamai Ren from Komi-san Can't Communicate. However, with how she's been focusing non-stop into the iLadies live show, I feel like fans who were waiting for videos like more anime reviews or even just dumb fun shit are practically starving for content. Admittedly, it's fine for a VTuber to focus more into livestreams than videos because the former takes less time to edit (let alone edit at all) than videos in general, but I honestly think there's something that should be said when the last actual video was eight months ago.

Sorry for the autism, just had to talk about my oshi. (:_(

Yet. If you can understand simple stuff, you can make simple clips. That outlet will drag you in to watching more, absorbing more, and getting better. I believe in you bro.
I don't know about that. After all these years, I took my reps a little more seriously and started studying on my own a year ago. I know my Hiragana und Katakana now but I'm kind of in the same boat as @Becomemysoulreaver12: I canunderstand the basic context from conversation fragments but never good enough for a translation. At least not until I put in more effort (of my limited time) into research to get it right. I absolutely hate it when I watch a clip and even I can tell how bad/wrong/basic the translation is.
Maybe I should switch from self-study to something more course-like in the future to give it more structure.

I hope that todays final stage be better. Stage 2 was a little underwhelming for me or rather stage 1 overall more fun. On paper stage 3 should be as good as stage 1 though
Also because of

Edit: Rocking Lamy, Subaru, Mio and AyaFubuMio is a strong starting lineup. Sick stage as expected

Yo, you might be a Kronie. She's fun to watch and there is still time to buy tickets to see her in concert -https://spwn.jp/events/evt_25030802-enghololive6thfes. First half hour of the concert is free, she might be there...

Here are some clips that might show why she is like she is
Her and Calli are pretty similar honestly.
Kronii has talked about how she has a deadpan face and personality and growing up it led to people sort of abandoning her. While Calli is more of a Golden Retriever type personality she has sung how people abandoned her plus she was bullied as a kid. They kind of bonded over that. Her and her best friend Sally, also deadpan and a doctor, are just a bit off. She might be depressed but she is also... let Mumei tell it
Girl feels so misunderstood, even people she likes connecting with her is a surprise. I think that sums it up.
