Well company valuations are bullshit anyway. And you can trust them only when transfer for whole sum when sold has cleared. And even then it might not be real. So someone might have paid something for part of company. But it doesn't mean private Vtuber company is actually worth that much now or that it will ever be or go anywhere.

I don't know about the Melody thing, but I can sum up the corpo implosion pretty succinctly.

Vshojo got 11 million through venture capital fundraising. They proceeded to burn through it with wasteful and poorly managed spending. They began signing up every talent that would give them more profit than loss in an attempt to staunch the bleeding. They soon ended up becoming a ponzi scheme, taking new money and using it to chase old debts. They stopped paying many talents sometime late last year.

Around quarter two of this year, they began hemorrhaging talent and staff but it didn't really set off alarm bells until one of the co-founders of Vshojo, Zentreya, left. At that point people were holding their breath until the other shoe dropped. What is essentially the most iconic face of the company (debatably) Ironmouse announced she would be leaving after discovering the company had been using her account as a piggy bank, and more importantly, did not donate 500K that they were obligated to charity.

After Ironmouse left, it was essentially all over as the remaining talents left within the space of 48 hours.
Mowtendoo, a member of staff who left earlier this year, has been accused by a previous talent of being a creepy sexpest who spread lies on 4chan to discredit talents that left and to try and paint Vshojo in a better light. All talents have been forced to sign ironclad NDA's which have prevented them from discussing this and probably keep the company shambling forward long after it essentially died.

The "talent keeps their own IP" is more or less a meme because most of the people who joined Vshojo already had their characters.
It's purely down to wasteful spending. I promise that you could have made this company profitable because you're not a retarded startup obsessed retard like Justin Ignacio is. He failed the basic "More money come in than go out" test that many corpos do.

5. Did not pay their talents since last quarter last year.
6. Pockets IronMouse's donathon proceeds to IDF.
7. Vshojo is already bankrupt last year.
8. CEO puts out statement via Twitter. Former talents shits on it.
9. Atozy pronounced it as V.S. Hojo.

that's 9 of 21 talents that were ever active through the companies history. over 40%. So sure by a small margin "most of hte people who joined Vshojo already had their characters" but that's still a sizable chunk of the company that was new IP and not enough that I'd have dismissed it as just a meme.
