General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.


I've never paid attention to HoloCN before, even though they speak in a language I can actually understand, but something is going on that is making fans on both sides of the Chinese Firewall nervous. Several of the girls have recently made similar posts that only say "。。。。。。。。。。。。。", and Civia did an unscheduled stream shortly afterwards where she released paid voicework and art ahead of schedule and for free. There are speculations that business negotiations between whatever parties - HoloCN management, the girls, Bilibili, and Cover itself - are not going as smoothly as people are hoping for.

Incidentally, this is the first time I've looked at bilibili in any capacity, and it's honestly disturbing how many comments about how much CN fans want to kill Cover and Hololive are running about. Yes, Cover is constantly falling down a flight of stairs from the weight of its own success, but the swarm of "cover我杀了你" flooding throughout the entire stream unabated somehow feels a bit unnecessary.

Man, for a second there I was worried that one of the former HoloCNs had been doxed as living with the only black man in all of China. This was the gal that was like "here's my house nigger! ok now get outta here, go back to picking cotton" from a couple months back.

I thought HoloCN has disbanded already with Cover letting tubers keep their models and that was the end of the story.

Reddit, yes, but continuing off from what I posted earlier, Artia went on a brief meltdown on Twitter and her Bilibili. Whatever complications have popped up during negotiations to fully break away from Hololive tilted her something fierce, to the point where Civia texted her to ask what is wrong.

As of now she has calmed down, and emphasized that her Artia character will not be retired, and the rumors currently flying about on nga are untrue. I can only guess that Hololive is being genuine in trying to accommodate the girls' wishes, but other factors have yet to be sorted out and may take much longer than the end of October.



EDIT: Almost immediately after I posted this, a user updated by saying that she was just messing with everyone. I'm fairly certain she was genuinely venting out her frustrations with this and is now doing damage control, but she reaffirms that her avatar is not being taken away, which is an encouraging sign.

I dunno man, she's been full-on schizoposting on Twitter for a bit now. I see some antis kinda backing her up saying Cover needs to pay for their transgressions. This may get a bit weird before all is said and done.

All that work to figure out what permutation of "Nigger-Man" would decipher it (I think "niggerman" finally worked) to discover it's a Mega link, lol no. What's the point of the secrecy anyway?

Gotta put up a few hoops to jump throught to filter out unwanted individuals. The video is watermarked as well, with text that will get it deleted from most sites if uploaded. It's a pretty fun stream, enjoy!

I am curious on how the artist/avatar relationship is going to be for the ex-HololiveCN members now. I suppose they won't be able to get new costumes and the like? As far as I know for regular Live2D characters, you need both a bit of skill with the Cubism modeler and the source PSD in order to swiftly make a new costume/version of an already "rigged" character.

Civia's stated she lives in the US as she had a stream where she was having a cry because she missed her family in China.
