I have to say, one of the things I enjoy about vtubers is how transgressive it seems to other people. I'll admit my first reaction to vtubers was one of disgust as well. Some people might draw comparisons to furries or bronies who say the same ("our community isn't weird, people just think it is!"), but unlike bronies its not hijacking a fandom meant for children to insert weird sex shit, and unlike furries it isn't an excuse to explore perverted inflation fetishes or harass animals.

Its streaming + some of the conventions of anime, and on average a lot less cringey than twitch "irl streaming", like that one korean cunt people seem to love watching despite her being vapid and uninteresting.

It's hilarious how many people sperg out about it, to me, because I know just how fucked up most people are in their own lives. You stop caring that a few retards think you actually jack off to cartoons when you realize at least some of those same people probably lick assholes and wear dog collars as a kink.

If this thread goes then for the most part so do I. For varying reasons I cannot relate to much of the rest of the site, yet this page has some of the best open discussion regarding some vtubers, their ‘roommates’ and how that reflects in their work, and some of the minor lolcows in the community like domo and lyger
