General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Can't they get a subsidiary (hope that's the right word) to work on just shipping their merch overseas, like, say J-List or something?
J-List is still in Japan. So their shipping is also up the ass or they let you think you pay less but upcharge something else. From my experience shipping, its cheaper (relatively) to ship in bulk to a distribution point then from that distribution point, you use the lower local delivery charges to send to your buyers. It's the same issue with having a local manufacturer, how do you justify the cost if the volume isn't there.

I just did some research and AkiRose made £15,000 between March 1. and April 1. More than even Fubuki. In the all-time standings of superchat earnings she stands at 86th iirc, above Gen 5 (obviously), Mel, Choco, Sora, Roboco, and big-name Niji members like Tsukino Mito and Katrina Ange.

The only 'concerning' ones I've seen are Choco and Mel, but even they are earning money on a weekly basis comparable to a standard full-time job from just 1-3 streams.

Joining a startup business with little funding at their disposal is a big risk, and it was evidently a struggle, but even though their successors are hogging the limelight, all of them are earning enough to keep the lights on, and the one we concern ourselves over is making money we could only dream of.
Nobody disputes that AkiRose makes money now or that she's more successful than many indies, nijisanji's, or others in the same company, however that wasn't always the case. She exploded in earnings due to EOP and that clip and also being awesome.
2019 total earnings = $36,951 meaning her spilt was ~$12k before tax for a years worth of work. She earned less than Flare who debuted in August, and Suisei who joined Hololive at the end of November the same year. Aki consistently ranked around the bottom 3 in earnings out of 25+ girls which included the on long hiatus Mel. Flare who has a reputation as the underdog struggler of 3gen was 2 weeks behind getting to 50k, and 2 weeks ahead getting to 100k subscribers (~6months) when compared to aki (~2years). This shit has to weigh on your mind, especially when hololive had the cuckbox of failure, or that being last in Japanese corporate culture is considered an abject failure. Being low on SC earnings and sub count also limits her potential for merchandising and sponsorships, which are the real moneymakers.

So I'll forgive Aki for being worried and numberfagging a little, especially when compared to the chicken who took a whole month to overtake her.

Look how fast she drops from this chart and how much longer her genmates and choco stay.
I have checked some other sections of KF, but didn't really like them - I have found threads about people who annoyed me (like Andrew Dobson), but then I realized that I'm glad they have faded away into obscurity and I don't enjoy reading about them. KF as a whole is a needed counterbalance for people who cannot shut up about their harmful habits and serious mental issues on the internet, but some of the stuff is too appaling for me (still cannot forget the thread about a woman refusing medical care while being pregnant and giving birth to a.. ok nevermind). I prefer talking about things I like.
check out some of the offtopic boards they are generally much calmer.

Speaking of, I noticed she hasn't really been that active in her social media these past few weeks
she never really was active to begin with. she just posts the schedule, RTs some art and interacts rarely with her followers. that's it.

It's not on Ollie's or Ame's level. Not even Calli's

I started lurking around back when Pro-Jared's marriage imploded and pretty much squatted on the "Internet Famous" board since most of the lolcows i knew of had threads there.

But eventually, there's only so much crap you can handle, and it's good to decompress. That why I'm thankful that Null keeps the "Off-Topic" section where i can read about other stuff and even learn new stuff.

There's also salary and memberships, but the latter is at least partially a function of sub count. She did get merch and a branded apple wine, and I bet her fans bought up her voice packs.

I think Gura understands that getting into conversations on Twitter is the wide gate and broad road that leads to destruction. You don't get cancelled for the responses you don't tweet.

Post-election, sticking mostly to this sub-board and vtubers has been good for not stressing out over things.

With numbers like that, confirms Cali definitely gets the most super chats out her other EN gemmates now. Shame that this is before all the cuts from Youtube/Cover themselves but still it allot of fucking money.

In a similar situation so i feel ya, I linked those two because they are the most weeb related lolcow threads on site that don't pertain to WeebWars. MB is a retarded, cuckold, commie yet somehow corporate sellout who'd sell his kidney for a dollar and a like. Digitroon and cohorts are the exact people Null fears polluting his website with CP degeneracy. Maybe i should've linked to Brittany Venti's thread (of the cover struck Gura fans = paedo videos), where it was informed she frequently sleeps in cat shit.

Anyway my main point was to encourage people solely in this thread to spread their wings and checkout other sections of the website. It'd be easy to link to CWC, who the internet has been picking on for ~2 decades now, or DSP who somehow pigroaches his way across all comeuppance. However if people do check out other sections they'll probably stumble across a name they've heard of in passing, read a little... ... ...:stress:

Maybe they want to keep it simple and simply offtopic sperg about TV/film/games/books in their respective sections. I don't really participate in the AOT thread however I enjoy reading @Secret Asshole's posts and picture him going mental in a simlar fashion to Frank Grimes in relation to the story/editing decisions. Or maybe users will really go into the deep end reading about a gay weightlifting sex cult harem, that inject silicone into their scrotum, leading to the death of at least two people.
KF is a good place to read about online personality, I'm having fun reading Dream, CallMeCarson and Speedrunning threads. I also checked the SCP Foundation thread because I used to read SCP articles but stopped due to how boring it is now. Like seriously, a fucking Among Us SCP?

Few people mentioned this, can you post it, I have no idea what it refers to.
For you and for anyone else. This is the clip in question that blew up on reddit massively and effectively jumpstarted her all over again. I know it's this one as she has commented on it expressing her thanks.

It's funnier when you notice that after she selected the BLM badge she changed all of the badges to blue, of all colors it had to be blue. :story:
Cuz blue life matter now. The capitol just get attacked by a guy who belong to 2 major “oppressed categories (race and religions)” according to the media hence media silence.

I'm not actually disputing anything in my Aki comments. I'm not arguing that people think she's still earning very little, and I'm certainly not trying to imply that she is 'wrong' to feel down, disheartened, or self-conscious.

I understand that Aki having no support from her family, getting into a car crash at the point when everyone else in Gen 1 were cultivating their audience post-debut, and missing the boat of the Western 2020 wave that arised out of Miko's GTAV clips being posted to Twitter, are all extenuating circumstances that can't be controlled or prepped for that caused her to fall behind.

I haven't even spoken in opposition of numberfagging because I believe that people will subscribe if they take interest, and her interest has been like night and day since the Einmashu clip which says to me that people moreso simply didn't know about her than actively didn't want to support her.

What I am saying is that, in the here and now, Aki is not in a financial predicament where a bunch of people who work a 9-5 should feel concern for someone raking in thousands on a monthly basis. She's not even at the bottom of her own Generation.

That doesn't mean don't support her or support her less at all. It was just raising the point that I think people get lost in the idea that being an underdog in a company who've basically monopolised the YT superchat system inherently means they're 'failing', when the reality is that the overwhelming majority are doing really well for themselves now, and the fact all of Gen 1 are still here getting updates and costumes implies that Cover are still profiting off of them.

As I already mentioned: Sora, Roboco, and Gen 1 all signed a contract with what was a startup company at the time. They bet on themselves to make the gamble pay off, but the reality is that being the trailblazer means you reap the least rewards. It's something they probably knew when they put pen to paper and, as much as I respect the fact they all weathered it, you have to acknowledge that they made this decision of their own accord.
