General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Do smaller companies have this unwritten rule not to overlap announcements with Hololive's? Why should they care what Hololive does - it doesn't affect them.

I've seen multiple smaller Vtubers now that had to reschedule their announcements to earlier because of the HoloEN fiasco.
Why would you try to compete with someone who's going to take almost all your viewers? This is a terrible comparison but say you decide to start a new sports ball game and your first day of play is the same day as the super bowl. You might pickup some views but where do you think the majority are going? You don't try to compete with someone who by just existing will steal 90% of your viewer base, you have to aim for dates they aren't involved with.

Adding to the above, a lot of smaller vtubers are hololive fans themselves, so they would rather be watching the debut streams than streaming at that time.

Not that your post in particular is any better than the complaints your responding to. if you're gonna try and flex your ability to scroll passed things you dislike or don't care about, you kinda defeat the point when at the same time you're reeing that people are complaining about your oshi being talked about.

I don't personally give 2 shits about the pippa posting one way or the other but "If you don't like it than just post about something else" is some reddit hugbox mindset unable to accept even a little criticism and instead say everyone should just post stuff they're looking forward to. If it can be brought up in this thread to praise it others can also dislike it. same applies even to this as I'm sure not everyone will agree with me. Welcome to the internet.

-edit-

Of course it does affect them. Many of their viewers are also hololive viewers, when Hololive has a big stream going on it's going to cut into their viewership as well so it would be silly to not plan around it to some extent. Like imagine the ghost town of an announcment stream that would have occurred if any other company tried to run an announcement stream during coco's graduation. The same way that TV networks in the US wouldn't run something they really care about at the same time as the superbowl.

If you care about getting eyes on your announcement you obviously won't choose to do the announcement at a time you're almost guaranteed to get fewer than normal views.

Incorrect, see below

Correct. Since the same kind of thing happened with the HoloMyth cover art being done by Ina, people assume the same thing is happening with Namie. We know the artist is most likely the friend of Ina's, but we don't know who in the groups she is. Probably not Kronii however, because Kronii's actions can be accounted for thanks to the actions summed up in my quoted post below.

I would assume the thought is, "Why even bother trying to compete/stream at that time since we know a majority of the vTuber watchers will be turning in for Hololive".

The fan art for her new outfit has been AMAZING.

If they're going to prioritize other companies then they aren't really fans then, are they? Hololive doesn't care about these smaller Vtubers, so they shouldn't care about Hololive either

Liking more than one company doesn't make someone "not a real fan"

Any agency with the kind of mindset you're posing here would go under, and for good reason.

If you're going to prioritize x over y then that means x matters to you more than y. That's simple logic.

I made a mistake in saying "not a real fan". What I meant is that they value these smaller Vtuber less and therefore are unlikely to watch their announcement either way. Viewers who care about them will/should watch them over other streamers/companies

The main theory is that Kronii is actually recently retired VirPro Vtuber Seru Kisen, who was friends, or at the very least acquainted with the artist who dropped the Kronii art, Katzchen.

Ina's Australian friend, Namie is the uncredited artist who drew the piece with the 5 of them in it at the end of the debut PV. The fact it is wasn't credited like all the other art was a red flag to people as that's exactly what happened with Ina and her art with the Myth debuts.
Btw how do we know Namie drew that art are we just going off similar style?

Another example might be something like I remember when Star Wars The Force Awakens was coming out, all the studios but one or two moved their major releases months out of the way as to not compete with that juggernaut. Like it or not, Hololive is the big dick in the room when it comes to vtubers in the West and their first EN branch is a smash hit. Everyone is going to and should tune in to see how gen 2 turns out and if lightning strikes twice.

Arts leave behind quite a large footprint (even more so than voice unless they truly have unique voice like Gura) that unless the uncredited artist copypaste Namie style 1 to 1 or Cover just commission Namie to draw for them for 1 time only so they don’t need to put her name on it like how Nagu did drew for FGO summer event celebration not too long ago (DW did give credit to her in form of super fine print at the corner) but her artstyle is so recognizable that everyone instantly notice who drew that.

I didn't know people were speculating Ina was Nagu even before her Hololive debut. I know that immediately during that stream I saw people on the reddit thread naming Nagu when Ina revealed she was the artist who drew all the promo art and revealed that she liked or played FF14. I'm pretty sure I remember people putting two and two together with the artwork style, and Nagu being a known FF14 raider and apparently one of her old guildmates recognized her voice.

I wasn't clear enough I guess. People were suspecting Nagu drew the predebut promo art of myth before Ina debuted and were talking about it on places like danbooru in order to properly tag it (https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/4093413?q=hololive_english, you can see it in the first couple of comments) and when Ina revealed she drew it people quickly put 2 and 2 together that they were the same person. No one to my knowledge was suspecting Ina and Nagu of being the same person before she revealed she drew the promo art.

Except for the fact that:
  • I've criticized one of her own shit takes
  • Complaining about the state of the thread (instead of doing something about it) isn't a criticism, just bellyaching.
  • Pippa isn't my oshi. Josh is.

So we can expect one of the council (likely Hakos) to claim credit for that art during their debut just like Ina did
Fitting considering they are Ina's friend I wonder if shes doing it because Ina did it

yeah if you heard by yourself, especially during her describing "yeah if you going to Indonesia, maybe just go to Bali" you can tell she is a bit elitist, + dissing how Malaysia and Indonesia wifi suck dick comparing Singapore mobile data. not that anything she said wrong, it's true but you can tell where it's come from. even for a conglomerate daughters like Reine herself she still better behave not showing her elitist as you said about how she is coming from anime elitist from Indonesia
Reine seems extremely down to earth. From all of her streams I have watched none of them gave me the impression that she was the daughter of a multimedia company owner.

Basic marketing. People want exposure so it makes sense for them not to stream or announce anything when people won't watch. This is why big streamers have often moved timeslots a little earlier or a bit later than other big streamers in that same category so that dont have to fight for viewers.

The 3 most likely things we have right now are Ouro Kronii being Seru Kisen, Ceres Fauna being Hana Flores, and one of the remaining three being Namie-Kun.

Aside from that, it's basically pure speculation. I haven't seen anything definative for anyone else, but definately seen a few different names kicked around.

this is still idiotically narrow minded. Yes people prioritize, this goes on even within agencies and between bigger agencies.

A lot of people might go watch a Gura stream over an Ame stream if both stream at the same time, but that doesn't mean they don't support or are unlikely to support Ame.

If Nijisanji EN were running an announcement stream at the same time as EN gen 2's debuts, I'd choose to watch the Gen 2 debuts and watch the niji Vod later. so the line of thinking of "they value them less are are unlikely to watch their announcement either way" is just stupid. recognizing viewer trends and how they prioritize things. And working with them is smart marketing, timing is important and anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together should be aiming to put big announcement streams in times where they can pull the most eyeballs because the thing is for a huge chunk of the vtuber community the big agencies are a starting point that they branch out from and discover smaller groups and indies later when there isn't one of their favs from hololive/Nijisanji to watch. So if you keep burying your content and big announcements under big holo events you're not gonna catch those new eyeballs that might become new major supporters if you can just catch their attention.

TLDR only a retard kneecaps their own growth.

As far as I know the Ceres/Hana rrat only has Hana graduating on the same day as the EN2 announcement and them using similar punctuation and emojis going for it. Not what I'd consider convincing personally, definitely less so than the Seru/Kronii rrat, but given how fast this thread can move and that I don't lurk on /vt/ I may have missed something.

Allow me to add to that Rrat guess what Ollie called Fauna while trying to remember her name
