Ammo will take years to correct. The over all appetite for ammo increased with 8 million new gun owners and that many more guns in circulation.
...
Ammo manufacturing infrastructure is being expanded but the lines to make more faster take months to years to set up.
I've been hearing rumblings about composite ammo becoming a thing in coming years, but it's tied to the Army's Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) Program; in that large manufacturers are waiting to see if the composite 6.8 is adopted, before producing composite-cased ammunition to the civilian sector.

Do you expect to see composite ammo take off sooner as the technology matures, with the help of smaller manufacturers who could retool & adapt faster than large suppliers? I'll use True Velocity .308 as an example.

I don’t think it’s going to work well in existing chamberings not designed to be polymer. The neck of the casing is the weak point. It is less forgiving to misfeeds and feeding angle deviation.

Designing new cartridges based around it that require a barrel change but use the same bolt and magazines is the way to go. Make a 5.56 equivalent with a fully supported neck.

The CAV-15 and CAV-15 MKII molds were made by Shawn Nealon at his parents’ mold shop. They had aluminum cores and cavities. Development time was roughly similar.
Did they only ever make two molds? No wonder the quality varied so much over time...

We often would build an aluminum mold and run under 30-40 parts and never use it again.

If they already had a die shop, the extra time cutting steel and material cost is negligible. Aluminum is so soft, I've completely ruined an insert by dropping an allen wrench 6 inches into it while assembling.

One mold base, two different sets of cores and cavities.

With maintenance they should have been able to last a hundred thousand shots or more.

Maybe if it was a simple cavity and core. With all the ejector pins and slides I can't imagine those things looked all that great after 10k cycles. Especially using glass filled.

Good on you for doing it right. Your customers 500k from now are gonna be just as satsfied as the first 1000. Probably more so as the secondary operations improved.

More proof Ian is a gigantic faggot. This isn't the first time either.
I know you hate the guy, but if he only bought the gun to do a video, what the fuck is he supposed to do with it if it doesn't interest him? Just hold onto it for the hell of it? I'm led to believe it's an uncommon Mauser, so it probably is worth about that to an interested collector.
Now, if the buyer is some kind of simp freak and is more interested in it because he owned it once, rather than its history, that's still on the buyer for being a retard.

His auction house videos have always had a big element of trying to pump up that lot in the auction, and that's... sure a thing.
I imagine it's part of the agreement with the auction houses and sellers, he shows the things off and gets to act as sort of commercial for them, it's not like they were doing it out of the kindness of their hearts.
I still think though all this is iffy the RTI junkpile was the scummiest thing he's done.
Agree, that could have been a lot more transparent.

Hey, I'd love to have one of james earl jones' guns.
Love his moves, but I seriously don't understand the value of this provenance, the man is known for buying up the stock of bankrupting gunshops and thus accruing all kinds of random crap, some which happens to have value.

Saw a guy show of some old German .25 caliber pocket gun which had this provenance, and it wasn't remarkable outside of somewhat low production numbers. If it was a gun he had used in a movie maybe, or he had carried it for real and shot a deranged celebrity stalker with it or something, then that would have been actually interesting, but as it is, it's probable that this gun may not even have touched his hands.

Another wave of panic buying.
I'm expecting a lot of firey, but mostly peaceful protests.

Didn't know that, I guess that's on me for not paying much attention to that kinda ammo.

Can someone point me to or give me a quick rundown on guntubers seeming to coalesce in Texas? Is this a thing or am I being a schizo? I don't actively watch a lot of guntubers but over the past year have noticed collaborations with those in Texas, starting with apparently Demo Ranch and it seems to have grown.
Is Garand Thumb in Texas now? Did he get out of the Air Force to become a full time e-celeb?

Is this like when youtubers move to California so they can all do gay collaborations and generate e-drama in an attempt to network and kick off their e-careers? Am I crazy?
A ton of "online people" such as podcasters, youtubers and such are converging into Texas. It's not just a guntuber thing. Hell, Joe Rogan was supposed to bring over a ton of comedians with him to Austin, although only a few of them stayed. Long story short is, unless you want to star in TV shows or movies there's no point in moving to LA or NYC to "make it". Even liberals are fed up so they're moving to the next big blue city, Austin, and this snowballs into Texas becoming the trendy place to go.
With guntubers Demo might have been their Rogan but it's probably more than just the opportunity for collabs, they're also doing a rational business decision because no income tax and cost of living is below national average.

Lefty tech has been pushing Austin pretty hard for the past 10 years and it's slowly making a dent in voting demographic to the point where people who have actually lived there are having some concerns.

Thats my fear for Florida. It does appear COVID has made it a little less of a swing state in the right direction.

Texas is gonna have some huge census issues in the near future. About 1000 illegals crossing their border every day. Even if you don't get illegals to vote, there is a huge incentive for the left to gain seats.

Texas also has some really good bankruptcy protection, some of the best in the nation. So if you do fuck up and drive yourself into the poor house there you're not as fucked as you'd be in most other states.

Doesn't matter, SCOTUS just declared racial gerrymandering legal, Republicans have to win a single senate seat to completely tank Biden's agenda (and thus ensure a republican President in 2024 and probably a Republican senate which might just abolish the Filibuster) and all future red state (and several swing) state elections will be rigged or subverted to the extreme.

Gun control is already on deaths door now all that is needed for the plans laid out decades ago to come to fruition.

Florida is safe, especially if DeSantis/FL GOP gets the “election police“ off the ground

The GOP would have to want to win first, instead of being a party designed to push Liberalism slower.

Normally that would be true, but something has happened, it happened sometime between January 1st 2020 and January 6th 2021, large sections of the Republican party changed, changed on a fundamental level. The FL GOP is working on passing a law that make it Illegal to make white kids “uncomfortable“, SCOTUS literally just said that its okay to cheat blacks out of house seats, “CRT“ Bans, 140 elected republican officials voted to reject the results of an election which Biden (probably, but who really cares whether he did or not, all that matters is that the republican base is pissed) Won at the spoken or unspoken orders of Trump. Do you think they are doing all this shit for fun? for a laugh? No, this is all part of a plan that has been in the motions for decades. You never saw shit like this under Reagan or the Bushes.

Nobody with any actual power has been punished for Jan 6th and nobody with any actual power will be, Mark Meadows has proven that you can simply ignore DOJ Subpoenas. Trump will not be Indicted much less Imprisoned. We are in the end game, and we are winning.

This is the equivalent of thinking that wrestlemania heel turns are real. You are being farmed as easily as maskoids.

RTI was the Ethiopian rifles, right? Anyone whose been around the milsurp circles knows anything from RTI is a crapshoot. No one was expecting the Gahendras to be shootable Martinis, and they shouldn’t expect much more from a hundred year old Berthier that was rearsenaled in Africa. Anything from that lot was going to be a wallhanger at best.

Yeah, Desantis almost lost by less than 10k vote. To a gay methead caught in a hotel with a male prosititute.

My district has been blue for my entire life so I might have less hope than others.

To be fair, that election had a HUGE amount of fuckery. They were "finding" ballots in vans and storage units when it was clear DeSantis was going to win. Remember, Nikki Fried only got Commissioner of Agriculture as a fucking compromise.

Thats what gives me so little hope with any election. They did it for Hilary too. They just didn't do it enough....

I'm not going to tell you to start celebrating yet, but it's not all doom-and-gloom either. To summarize a lot of spergery from A&N, election fuckery of that magnitude takes a lot of capital (both financial and political) to pull off, and the people most likely to try it are currently scraping the bottom of the barrel since almost nothing they wanted to get done in order to refill their coffers got done.

Plus attacking the 2A is about as radioactive as it's ever been, thanks to the Summer of Love.

That shit was all over local news in Florida, but no one nationally touched it. I have zero faith in the electoral process in this country anymore.
