General GunTuber thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I have watched InRange since its inception. Karl has always been a cringe sperg, but he's mostly been able to keep it out of the videos, and deliver interesting gun content that isn't really being made elsewhere. The channel was founded on examining modern firearms through a historical lens, and the testing historical firearms in a practical environment. It's safe to say that this iteration of the channel is dead. These latest few videos & virtue signaling stunts have become too much (at least personally, for me) and combined with how sparse quality gun content has become on the channel, I'm considering unfollowing. The only reason I think it's relevant for me to blogpost like this is that I do not believe I am alone in this. In fact, I think I held out for longer than most would have.

The problem with the latest video is not the unbearable cringe, or even critiquing Grossman (who, so far as I can tell, deserves the criticism)- it's the fedora tipping inclusion of the horse cock bible verse at the end of the video. I'm not offended by the verse, but I'm also not going to feign ignorance about the fact that he is absolutely trying to offend/alienate his (likely sizable) Christian audience, who, by all measures, are probably already much more 'tolerant' of this kind of treatment than any other demographic would be. If I believed Karl was an equal opportunity 'troll', I wouldn't mind this, but something tells me that he would not care for someone in his discord dropping a few wild Talmud or Koran verses- those religious groups are not 'okay' to troll. Nor would he be ok with a cheeky 13/50 or 41%.

I'm not sure what compels youtubers to believe that their own vision for their channel is more important than providing the content their viewers have come to expect, but this has happened countless times to other youtubers and it's always been hilarious to watch from the sidelines. I'm not sure whether Karl thinks he can hack it as a pseudo breadtuber, but that almost seems to be what he's trying for. I'm not sure he has the internet chops to keep up to date with what is, and is not problematic and would quickly get cancelled. In any case, I predict that if he keeps this up, his donations, as well as viewership, will continue to decline. This time, it will have nothing to do with any "algorithms". I look forward to participating in the inevitable Karl Kasarda thread at this point.

It seemed before like his distaste with gun youtube in general was about a lack of a specific type of thoughtful content, and that was fine as long as he was providing it. Now that he's discontinued that in favor of leftist virtue signaling, I'm not sure that was ever why he truly disliked other gun youtubers- it may have been something as simple as jealousy.

I'm in the very same boat as you.
I stopped watching InRange shortly after Ian stopped appearing, kinda without even realizing. Only after coming across this thread did I remember "Oh yeah, Inrange was a thing I used to watch". Karl really needs Ian's knowledge to bounce off for interesting discussions and behind the scenes he probably needs Ian to control his autism. Hell, Ian was probably the driving force behind the interesting test videos, like the exploding/armor piercing ammo tests, this kind of content seems to have dried up completely.

Does anyone even watch the vids with Sinistral? That guy is the most dull man on youtube. He might have some really good takes but I wouldn't know because every time he begins to drone on I just automatically zone out.

Sinistral has some thoughtful of points and seems to be doing his best as a replacement Ian (and as a replacement Karl in some Ian vids, lol), but his voice is like Ambien in audio form.
That's Hickok for me. I cannot finish any of his videos because of that boring, changeless, droning voice of his. It reminds me of Civics class and how many times I almost fell asleep because of my teachers voice.

You can pick up his disdain for those more popular than himself quite often if any adjacent channels or content suggestions come up. It's been a theory of mine that he, unsuccessfully at this point, used Ian to propel himself. Unfortunately he lacks the stability in both a literal and figurative sense to maintain his channel. It's apparent, as you've said, that he has lost rhyme or reason in regards to gun content and instead wants to bridge the gap with breadtube where he will surely meet a terrible fate that fits his inflated ego.

Hickok45 was a History/Civics teacher, so that would explain it.

Ian does a zf-41 video and no mention of InRange's video from a couple of years back even though he's using the same gun as a prop. I thought Ian was going to mention the video at the end but nope, he recommends a Japanese website. I'm betting Finnish Brutality will be the last time Karl/InRange is ever mentioned on FW.

Don't worry, Karl is out there to correct the record. The fact that it was posted an hour after the video makes me think you're right - they're going through a separation. Maybe Karl got kicked out of Ian's basement and this is why he's sleeping on a couch in the desert.
PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEEE.png

EDIT
Karl is burning more bridges today, his patrons are jumping ship.
goodbye money hello poverty.png

And he has declared war on "sheepdogs" and Christians.

He mentioned it in the Norwegian Scout scopes video. I guess just once and never talk about it again on a later video of the same subject is good enough for him.

Plus, he acknowledges that G41 is a bastardized rifle anyways.

Karl has obvious disdain for religion and Christianity specifically, as if the fact he was a literal card carrying member of the Church of Satan wasn’t enough to give it away.

I get the feeling he’s embarrassed about sharing gun culture with the religious right and working rural poor, and while there’s plenty to be critical of in those groups, he’s way too much of a prick to do something sensible like be positive and meet people halfway. Instead he’d rather declare his own superiority and drink in the conflict.

That’s your brand now Karl. You can deliver a big song and dance about how you just want to bring “content that I think is informative and engaging” but by the numbers, your content for the last year has been you being a condescending asshole for no reason. Don’t be surprised when people stop tuning into that, and don’t be surprised when the only people left who do are miserable self-absorbed bastards like yourself.

Sinistral is kind of like Chris Bartocci for me good info but dull af to listen too (plus Bartocci’s tendency to fumble his words doesn’t help...I think he’s a better writer than speaker).

But yes, I think you’ll find that while a lot of Karl’s critics disliked him from the start, a sizable number, such as myself, are disaffected former fans put off by Karl’s personality and the direction of the channel. As I’ve said previously, I even agree with a lot of Karl’s positions, but the way he advocates for these positions is often just unbearable. And it’s really his demeanor on outlets other than his actual videos (YouTube comment section, Facebook, Discord) that I find the most grating, although he can be annoying in his vids, he’s a total thin-skinned cunt everywhere else . Karl is very insecure, or at least comes across that way. Even back when I was an InRange patron Karl would complain in the Discord about how Ian was more popular, or some other “inferior” gun channel was getting more views or notoriety than InRange.
I think once Karl started to gain some popularity with “non traditional” gun owners (good, absolutely get them into this hobby) it flipped some switch in him and he suddenly decided to go from a reasonablly inclusive gun channel to “THE MOST!” inclusive gun channel because of his need for recognition and praise. And Karl being such a relentless tryhard edgelord, his efforts in that regard end driving away his more traditionally-inclined viewers. And his response is to double down: “fuck them, I don’t want those viewers anyway” and so he ends up doing the exact same type of antagonistic “gatekeeping” he (often correctly) accuses the rest of the 2A community of doing, he’s just doing it from the “Left” (Although I’m not sure I’d call Karl a Leftist either...I dunno WTF he is honestly) instead of the “Right”...so now it’s okay I guess...?
And hey, I don’t pay attention to his view count or his patreon numbers, maybe this business model is working well for him.

This is the most coherent and concise explanation I've ever heard. I'm in the same boat. I feel compelled to unsubscribe however the lingering thought that maybe one day he will produce a quality video prevents me from doing so.

I have a lingering thought that maybe one day he will produce something so entertainingly stupid that he’ll finally get a proper lolcow thread.

Isn't Grossman one of those "video games will turn you into literal serial killer"-faggots?
David Grossman is the founder of the Killology Research Group (not a joke), whose stated aim is to help Police officers overcome their inhibition to kill suspects(also not a joke). Those videos you see of US cops shouting 'Show me your hands' as they simultaneously empty their magazine into a suspect.... They're down to him.

He's a complete and utter retard, and the fact that so many US police forces paid money to send officers on his courses, is equally retarded. He has this 'Sheepdog' routine that apparently works equally well on Young children as it does on cops.

That Childrens book is also retarded as well as bing fucking hillarious, I'm just amazed someone hasn't milked it for comedy previously.

I actually think the video is quite funny, Jim Bowie as a sheepdog at the Alamo killing mexicans... .

I enjoy laughing at Karl as much as the next person on this thread, but I genuinley enjoyed the video.

Karl wants ALL the credit for the furry video and I suspect Ian wants NONE of the credit.

In the comments it seems most people think Ian is behind InRange still.

I wonder if it's because Grossman is still pretty influential in certain circles, and Karl doesn't want to start shit with him on Ian's behalf.

If anything looking at the book it's Grossman that's got the furry inclinations not Karl.

Anyone that hasn't watched it in full should give it another go. There's one part where Grossman has some shit about the Spartans, and Karl points out that you wouldn't want to be a kid around them...

I'm sure there a lot of valid points. If he wasn't such a sperg, he could get these ideas out to a lot more people.
Personally, he lost me 4-5 political grandstands ago...

Karl just isn't funny in my opinion. Any time he tries to convey a message with humor or sarcasm; it just comes off as a guy fingering his own asshole with self praise. The literal 24/7 moderation of criticism has only amplified that feeling in me..

InRange used to just be videos about weird guns in the desert. Now comes off as a personal diary from a crazy person; that thinks he's the target of a conspiracy of trolls, hackers, and Republicans.
These videos are like the bullets he's shooting at the imaginary enemies in his head.
