General GunTuber thread

It is harder than you might think to be "a good person." Especially if you want to be ambitious. It's also difficult to put into words what public opinion can do to someone. If you are not truly humble, it will make you feel big. That's when you make mistakes.

Most of the drama we see is largely from there being two types of gun creator, though it may be more of a spectrum. The first is the "theater kid" gone macho. These guys wanted fame from the start. A lot of the old guard is the other end: honest hobbyists/autists who want to share. Social media, however, comes with a lot of problems you can never really be trained to deal with ahead of time.

I generally like the latter kind of guys, even when they get twisted up over time. They mean well and you can accept their faults. The former, however, have always annoyed me. I reflexively resist giving attention to people who want it above all else.

Personally, I just try to keep the show on topic. I have to let some personality through to keep funding coming. That's because people will only support people. I try to do this as responsibly and direct as possible. I want to avoid the slippery slope of being some parasitic streamer feeding on loneliness. I would rather have avoided any and all personal celebrity if I could have. I don't get excited to be recognized and yet it's also always nice to be recognized because it means the work is appreciated. Also when I am, it's almost always someone who enjoys my same interests, so chances are we will get along. So that part is nice.
I mean we get it man. That's probably very smart thinking on your part cause even if you did include some other guntuber or other niche celebrity on your show, all you might get is a minor immediate boost in viewership while opening yourself to a controversy down the line. Personally I know me and my brother both like your videos and the time you put into exhaustively cataloging and focusing on all the details. So I'd say you're making the right choice and believe me, any of us on kiwifarms have seen all too often what happens when some content creator grows too big of a head. It's a tale as old as time for us, so your decision to be cautious and concerned about the slippery slope is a relief.

So that's a no to the Ballistol-filled hot tub streams? Sad.
He could even sell the used Ballistol afterwards. Give a bottle to Ian to review and use to clean a chauchat. Think about it, 20th century French ingenuity meets 21st century American dingleberries.

You want to create content about guns and shooting, a lot of YouTubers seem to want to be "content creators" and would be as happy making videos about bad dragon dildos as larping about with a plate carrier and *yet another* AR-15 as long as it got them exposure.

This is a common thread with the YouTubers I've stuck with across any number of subjects; yourself, Techmoan, Hand Tool Rescue, Will Stelter, Taofledermaus, the content is still about the subject at hand rather than turning the person making it into a "personality".

TL;DR Leviathan group is well named, steroids are a menace, sign up to the Sonoran Desert Institute using the link in the description to receive absolutely nothing of value

Is there ever any pressure, from either prospective would-be sponsors or media platforms themselves, to associate with specific other content creators or to appear in certain events or social circles?

Sponsors want all sorts of insane things. We just tell them no. It is our terms or get bent. That's because we respect the audience and won't shill what we won't use ourselves. It is so strange to me how formulaic the ads are from these places. It is so easy to spot and filter out. Far better to just quickly advocate and say they help out and leave the audience feeling good about the product.

Notably we have only one sponsor. Ballistol only covers a fraction of an episode's cost to produce but they also leave it to us how to handle things.

Brandon made a paywalled video about converting an AK to full auto:

HOO-RAH, brother! People like this Brandon Hernandez moron give us gun owners a bad name. Look, machine guns are illegal for a reason. I served in the Army so I know what machine guns are capable of. Could you imagine some camel jockey terrorist from Iraq or Libya coming here and shooting up a school with a 50cal!? Even if he didn't hit any kids those huge slugs would rip their limbs off if they were within a foot of being near them!

I hate people like this so much. No one does more damage to the 2A and the community than these faggots that cry and snitch about everything being illegal. Like when braces first came out they kept emailing the ATF for clarification to the point they had to make a ruling. No doubt they’re doing the same about FRT triggers
