So it's been ten days since Donut Operator posted a new video. Can we hope he's gotten a haircut and a shave and gotten some new clothing on while he's been away?

The take on the use of reflector sights in combat aircraft is completely nonsensical. Those sights were not used the way one would use a shotgun. With a firearm you usually look at the target and bring out the weapon to the horizontal plane formed by your eyes, and it's like you're on a swivel as you can fire in any direction you can turn to. With an aircraft, you're inside a machine that can't turn on a dime and to aim the guns - you need to change the velocity vector. The kind of shooting one does with a bead on a shotgun isn't possible inside an aircraft. It's like the difference between skeet shooting off the back of a truck, or mounting the guns on the hood facing forward and having to steer the entire vehicle.
The use of "instinct" is complicated by the fact that you can be diving or climbing while you're shooting, which has an effect on whether gravity is subtracting or adding to the bullet velocity. The pilot deals with a relatively large volume in 3d space. There's a lot of factors playing tricks on "instinct" compared to shotgun shooting. Even then, use of tracers and explosive shells to "walk" a burst into the enemy was extremely common as it wasn't always possible to get the deflection right with the first rounds.
The funny thing is, before reflector sights became common aircraft did use bead sights (albeit with a ring rear right so it doesn't count).

Either way, the main advantage of the reflector sights were the ease of compensating for deflection or distance by using the reticle and gyro system. By turning a dial the pilot could shrink or enlarge the reticle so that it could match a known aircraft's wingspan and this automatically gave the sight a lead computation. This makes reflector gunsights in WW2 clearly about increased accuracy and ease of use while chasing enemy fighters. Not faster snapshots.
TL;DR: Karl doesn't play flight sims and it shows. Also doesn't understand historical context.
Completely agree with you.

Karl hates anyone that disagrees with him. In the past two years it has gotten worse. To disagree with him is to insult him. To insult him is to become his life long enemy. The following 43 second intheshitter video demonstrates that.

Karl is running around in the background screaming and yelling about back up iron sites being old. You can hear him sperging out like he is three years old on how people need to modernize. How is that video evidence of my claim that he takes disagreement as an insult? Because Karl has decreed that iron sites are old fashioned and unnecessary on his ultra-super-tech WWSD rifle. If you think otherwise Karl hates you and spergs.

Russell has been selling polymer AR lowers for 21 years. At least according to the lawsuit that he is defending himself against. Cav Arms started selling a polymer lower in December 2000 and Russell joined Cav Arms in 2001. That is before GWOT. That in fact is before the M4 carbine was the standard rifle of the US military. The red dot optic is becoming cheap and old fashioned and is GWOT old. The new shiny object that the cool kids want is the LPVO. Basically everything that is the WWSD rifle is established old products assembled into a e-celebrity endorsed product. The biggest claim is that it is one of the lightest AR's on the market, which it is.

Karl does the spergout on everything. He does it on optics, guns, shooting, politics, religion. You name it and you can find a Karl spergout online about it. Personally I don't find tantrums all that big a deal until that is all you do.

I wonder what would happen to Karl's mind if GWACS wins its lawsuit against KE Arms, Russell Phagan, Brownells, and Shawn Nealon. Just think if one possibility happens and the KP-15 is discontinued? Karl's ultra-modern super gun would then become a Forgotten Weapon. I am positive Ian would make a quick episode and drop it and continue on same as normal. Karl's reaction would be so much more enjoyable to watch.

Not a very new video, but it seems poignant with the recent and questionably sane announcement to adopt the 6.8mm Sig Spear

Can't say I agree with his idea of going for 6.8mm Spc, because that's a stupid cartridge, but he manages to (perhaps unwittingly) make the case that NATO should upgrade from the old M80 Ball load for 7.62mm NATO to something better that would, if not defeat Lv.4 plates at 600yds as fantasized of by NGSW proponents, would still perform better than before, and at much lower chamber pressures, all while remaining compatible with existing machine guns and rifles.

The recoil on these Sig carbines looks fucking comical.

LOL. Take a look at the Sig Spear

I don't even know how to describe this thing. It is ummmm, different. Hey, it has offset backup iron sights. It is alloy not plastic. It has a folding 6 position collapsing buttstock. It does not look anything like what Stoner would do.

My bet is Karl is going to sperg about something gay.

This could be the next "Game Changer" or it could be the next XM25.

I agree that Karl is like that irl, but in the video he seems to have boiled himself down to a caricature just for the bit. This video actually shows some self-awareness from his part.
Problem is that he returns to his annoying real self when he's back in front of his keyboard.

Well, there's the M80A1 round, which is the Big Boy™ version of M855A1.
m80a1.jpg
I have a different take, though. We should increase chamber pressures if the Sig case design is that good. Do some fancy EDM shit on barrels and create relief cuts that don't disturb the rifling to get sharp pressure drop close to the uncorking of the bullet at the muzzle. Short cans at the end. Fuck it, we 5.56 Magnum now.

I get a real kick out of seeing Baphomet's Bottom Bitch Butt-boy chimp out over stupid, inconsequential bullshit.

Dude takes himself WAY too seriously.

The xm25 I'd a retarded boondoggle that isn't going to amount to shit, Just like every other time we got big ideas to replace the AR. If big army wanted to do anything it seems like the obvious answers would be to try and find a better bolt head material so you can shoot 855A1 without being a constant mantiance nightmare.

Or make some kind of in-house 6.5 Grendel load with one of those fancy tungsten bullets. Thst works in a regular AR and uses a standard brass case thst isn't and obvious death trap.

80k psi in a two piece case is begging for problems. Best case sanario I bet you have case heads pulled off on extraction in hot guns. Hope there's a trapdoor for s broken case extractor somewhere on that thing.

Carpenter 158 was good enough for TWO IRAQ WARS!
Honestly, you don't even need a better material. Rounded bolt lugs would do the trick. The deal with bolt breakages isn't the linear bolt thrust, it's the overpressure causing early unlocking and creating a torsional load. The relatively sharp radius at the root of the lugs acts as a stress riser and bolt life is reduced. I heard the M855A1 pressure issues were fixed, which lead me to an arfcom thread where Buffman said what I already knew but wasn't sure: velocities on M855A1 seem to have been dialed back. But interestingly, someone mentioned that the Small Arms Solutions/Black Hills testing of M855A1 had it conditioned at 125ºF. They did environmental testing on M855A1 by heating it up, and it's within spec. That's weird.
They don't want to use tungsten. Making billions of standard issue bullets with tungsten cores would take it away from where it's needed. That's why the 6.8 was designed around a steel core and it's blasting off at full rifle power. They need that performance to lob an ash tray of a steel core that makes up for the fact that it's not tungsten.
I really don't think the two piece cartridge (or three piece in this case) is that much of an issue. Most solid materials have a Poisson ratio of 0.2-0.3 which means that axial strain results in transverse strain, equivalent to 20-30% of said axial strain. In plain English, if you compress a material like aluminum or steel to the point of deformation, it actually bulges sideways. With the high pressures, it's possible that the washer in the case head further locks the case wall.

I could see how the pressure would force them together during firing, my main source of concern was balloon head 45 colt cases, but I can see how the geometry is different. I'm not sure that any of that will keep them together under extraction though.

I have a real good friend that works at lake city, I'll ask him if he remembers the load in a1 being decreased. I think what they actually did was change powders to one thst was supposed to be more consistent, but I'm not sure. I do know that stuff is a constant pain in the ass for them to load and only the marines shoot much of it.

Dugan Ashley is back with a few informational videos. Not calling him insane, but I do have to wonder whether these types of posts by him coincide with MS flareups due the the psychological symptoms. Still happy to see that nobody's "cancelled" the guy (not that there would be much to "cancel")

Which is why shit like this is just confusing; is he trying to be funny?

Big green canceled the XM25 back in 2018.

The Sig thing I don't really have an opinion on. I only have marketing material to go with. Marketing material is AIDS for anything useful.

On Karl the spergy sperg sperg of spergtube. He gets emotional on everything. He came close to a heart attack about a book no one on God's green earth ever even heard about. Bring up the M1 carbine and he looks like someone that got kancho'd hard as hell with a pool cue. If someone disagrees with him on camera he starts out ok then his arms flail around and he starts to shake. The gun throwing. If you throw guns, even as a joke, you are not a person that should be taken seriously. Every single person who owns and/or uses a firearm will say "Treat every firearm as if it where loaded, even if you know it is not." Karl, throw it into a dumpster because it didn't work during a match. Karl, throw it across the desert because, it didn't shoot right. Why, because "ANGRY Karl not like gun."

Takes one to know one. Your interpretation of joke videos like the WWSD BUIS one or the Red Oktober dumpster one tells me you’re probably lacking in humor and understanding of non-verbal social cues. The rifle in the dumpster video was disassembled FYI.

A lot of the people here say he takes himself too seriously (fair enough), but you’re saying he doesn’t himself seriously enough? Strange.

"...you’re saying he doesn’t himself.." Phagan, he doesn't what? Your last point is not coherent. Try harder.

I don't think I am sperging out at all. I'm not using harsh language. I am not even making crude jokes. I am just pointing out the fact that Karl is in a small group of dumbass guntubers out there that do irresponsible shit with firearms. Karl also gets mad at the drop of a hat over the most idiotic shit. Karl is an atheist that takes part in a religion just because he wants to "spite" another religion. That is some next level anger management issues. He likes to make fun of groups he does not like but, he takes exception to people making fun of his chosen groups. He dislikes hate speech while hating on people. He hates being forced by the government to do anything except, when the government mandates something he likes.

He is not unique. You see ,I dropped Harmsen of MAC when he started to sperg out on an H&K pistol. What Harmsen did was totally idiotic. The pistol failed to fire after being dunked in a puddle of water. Harmsen starts throwing it against trees and running it over with his Jeep. That is sperging out also. He sperged out about the NRA and having secret intelligence about the NRA taking actions against him.

When Henry over at 9-Hole or Ian does some kind of skit I don't care. Sometimes they are funny sometimes they are meh. They are not a total and complete sperg out and they do not involve unsafe gun handling.

Non-verbal social cues? People who bring this sort of thing up on the internet are tard struggling to make an argument. I don't care if the rifle was disassembled or not. Maybe when he tossed the pistol over his shoulder in his backyard he was just making a joke? He shows poor safety discipline with firearms. He does take himself way too seriously and, he really hates any form of disagreement.

You also take disagreement badly. Karl is completely dependent on you defending him. He cannot and will not defend himself without Phagan. Is Phagan the mouthpiece of Karl? In fact no one here even thinks of you as a guntuber. Why are attacks on Karl seen by you as attacks against yourself? Are you jesus or something? I thought Ian was gun jesus. Are you attempting to gain more likes from Karl?

Maybe this is the crux of the lawsuit against you. You involve yourself in things that do not concern you.
