General GunTuber thread

I hate how Oxide's videos are 35% sponsor spots, especially since they're so short to begin with; but I have to admit the editing absolutely fucks.
He's a regional guy so I suspect most of you haven't heard of him, but Washington Gun Law is a really good channel for 2A legal stuff. He mostly focuses on Washington State but always covers national news as well. Today, he was talking about a 1st circuit ruling where a magazine ban was upheld.
Is Washington practicing, or is Fuddbusters the only practicing youtube-guntuber lawyer?

Yeah, NOBODY else has done a fucking URANIUM BULLET video, that shits insane

Pretty sure, seeing how he films from what looks like a nice office from what is likely a webcam he uses for meetings and such. I don't think he'd go through all the effort of a suit just for vids, he's not Reviewbrah lol. Also think he's mentioned his cases or something, can't remember the details tho

Been watching Johnathon Ferguson of the Royal Armory. I know he's a Br*toid, but I like that the non-videogame gun videos are not overproduced. I just want gun info like Ian's, not a 5 minute intro like GT.
There's a whole section in the Royal Armories dedicated to American 'Gun Culture'.

Incidentally the displays are almost uniformly awful, obviously staged by someone with a 'vision' that has no interest in firearms.

You will almost never get a clear look into high level museum staffs' minds. These things are run by boards and credentialism. They exist on a mix of tax dollars, donations, trusts etc. For every one person actually passionate about the objects in a collection, there is one more passionate about their pet narrative, then three people who are just punching the card to stone-step towards a whole other department.

Most of the curators/admins I know are obviously very pro gun. However, their politics range widely outside of that. All of them know they are caught in a potential whirlwind if they say too much. So they only seem political when the whole organization is pushing something. Even then it might not be their true feelings. I have known a few "martyrs" who will get stuck being carried along because they know if they get run out the replacements will start welding actions. They tolerate a lot to keep preserving the collections.

Jonathan, in particular, is a very humble and sweet person. He has always been extremely helpful and flexible with researchers in my experience. Like anyone with lots of responsibilities, he only has so much research time, so he can be tripped up by bad summary data. But he is always quick to correct however he can and keeps no ego in it. Being a "generalist" is very difficult.

I know several people who've met Jonathan Ferguson, none of whom had a bad thing to say about him however that's not to say the rest of the staff at the Armouries are worthwhile. The museum sector in the UK is unfortunately infested with the sorts of people who hate guns, empire and white people (despite being wealthy whites themselves)

I would assume the poster is one of those who thinks GT sold out, when he stopped doing generic talking head talking reviews against a black background and fell under the sway of a sweet talking mustachioed daddy dom named Aaron Visconti, who introduced GT to the world of outdoor guerilla style filming and sketches and being more overtly center right in his politics in his videos and in micxed company....
No, I just think he comes off like a smarmy prick a lot of the time. I get why people like his videos, though, and I don't begrudge them that. I just would have preferred his last interview be with practically anyone else, including Aaron.

He's still sharp as hell even if the body can't keep up as quickly anymore. Sucks to see him in his current state but I can't say I would be surprised if he somehow pulled a miracle out of his ass to keep on living.

Unfortunately I think he’s at the end of his rope. He’s dropping a lot of weight (seeing him swamped by his jacket killed me) and he has that thousand-yard stare from time to time. Considering the cancer is eating him up so bad that he has been losing bone mass to the point of breaking a pelvis, I’m shocked that he’s still up and around.

To see him pimped out like this in such a clearly sickened and weak state as well as the follow campaign just feels grotesque and ghoulish.

I imagine Paul has a better idea of what he wants his legacy to be than any of us do. Nobody forced him to sit down with GT, who has about four times the audience as Paul. GT does not need to do an interview for clickbait with Paul. If anything, him making sure to bring Roy out on camera makes me think he’s probably sincere about wanting the Harrell legacy to continue through his brother.

Paul has been doing his last few videos leaning on a cane. I have a suspicion he doesn’t much care that we see him as a completely different man than the stud he was just a year ago. Like Paul, my neighbor wasted away quick from cancer. He was a fit, strong older gentleman one minute and a frail, sickly old man the next.

I’ll always remember my neighbor being the strong, grandfather-like influence he was when I was young, but I’ll never forget how he was when I had to pick him up after his fall: he hadn’t missed a lick of his old self, making a joke of no longer being able to get up on his own. He died strong and with dignity.

I’m proud of Paul for coming out and showing himself such as he is. Letting other people see you at your weakest, when you are possibly weeks from death’s door, takes guts that I don’t think I would have. We need to be reminded of our short time on this journey we’re on and God bless Paul for helping us remember that.

Garand Thumb’s Paul Harrell interview is up.

Hard as it is to see him like that (and regardless of how I feel about GT), it was a pretty great interview; the bit about his jacket was hilarious & Paul answered a lot of questions I've had forever.

Now if you see someone wearing an earplug case (at least in my town), chances are good it's in support/memory of Paul; we started doing it at the shop when the bad news first dropped, instead of a gay ribbon or pin. We dug out our old issued earpro cases, and bought some new ones for the guys who love Harrell's videos; which turned out to be damn near everyone who watched gun content on YouTube.

Godspeed, Paul & Roy

Late to this, but Administrative Results and some fat cloner did a clickbait video "Delta Hero's HK416D". Using Medal of Honor recipient SGM Thomas Payne as the draw. Problem is, there are photos of Payne's actual setup, and the gun Admin Results used in the video isn't clone correct. He just had to shill Unity and SIG :story:

I just looked up his bio and I believe he's still practicing because he's still receiving awards. Looks like he started out in prosecution and did about 20 years of criminal defense. He's a managing partner at Cohen, Kirk, & Kattenhorn in Seattle and is the dean of some DUI continued legal education program. I believe he's also the president of the Washington Gun Club but I can't find that written anywhere and only recall him mentioning it in videos.

Jesus, Im watching the interview now and good lord he looks rough.
He's not that bad, yet. I've watched a few people die from cancer and he looks and sounds a lot better than I expected. He's gaunt and weak, but not half as bad as he's gonna look on his last day. What really amazed me was his voice. I listened to the interview without watching, and I almost couldn't tell he was sick. If his health is going to follow the same trajectory as the people I've watched go through this, he's probably got more than a month left.
