Not familiar with this fellow, but this is one of the better videos on the 320's issues I've seen. Siggers on suicide watch etc.
Didn't make it through the whole video yet, but if the P320 is heavily outsourced then I totally buy that they just go off at random.

I almost bought a P250 once, the 320 feels nicer but I don't want it to take me out

That's what you get when you adopt some plastic 9mm pea shooter! When I was in the service my 1911 never went off accidentally! And where's the hammer!? How am I supposed to threaten a POW by thumbing the hammer back while I hold the pistol to his head? I'm sure we still have tons of 1911s in storage, we should issue those instead! Atleast our boys would have a pistol with some STOPPING POWER instead of some prissy european caliber like 9mm. Last I checked, 45 is a bigger number than 9.

going through this video, gonna write up some bulletpoints on this later. currently out of the house so this is gonna take a moment
its looking pretty damning, sig bros...

finally done with this.
a summary of the video, in no particular order:
  • Guay vs Sig Sauer, the only lawsuit on SIG Sauer's website that wasn't simply dismissed, ended in favor of sig not because they didn't believe the witnesses testimony (in other words they did believe the gun accidentally discharged), but rather because they couldn't prove that SiG knew about these issues before they published their "safety without compromise" advertisement.
  • a lot of lawsuits share a common theme of the gun facing downward, in a holster, with rearward pressure being applied to the firearm. we will discuss this later.
  • Sig Sauer has also left out a number of other lawsuits from its website, like the Sheperis, Hall (ongoing), and Gordon cases. There are also a number of court cases that have been settled out of court. We know of at least five, but there could be more. One can only wonder: Why are so many settled out of court? Wouldn't you want that vindication in a courtroom?
  • Sig makes judicious use of the Daubert standard to get rid of the plaintiff's witnesses. Originally implemented to make it easier to accept general testimony when it comes to uncommon knowledge, many have argued this standard has made it harder to due to the amount of specific criteria the plaintiff has to meet. in Jinn vs Sig Sauer, the plaintiff was unable to move forward due to the prohibitive costs of having to test the drop-safe capabilities of the gun in lab conditions.
  • Sig claims that various U.S. military branches tested their guns as well as 80 different countries around the world in a TFBTV interview. What they do not mention is how well they did in these trials- the video highlights their initial failures at the beginning of the XM17 trial (as well as the shoddy fix they added during the trials) and the failure to live up to reliability standards when entering mass production for a police contract in the Netherlands.
    • The video highlights the preferential treatment Sig has been given, specifically in the XM17 trials. It also mentions Sig's practice of undercutting other bids in various contracts by selling the guns nearly at cost. They do this because they know that being able to market their guns as "military tested & chosen" adds a ton of credibility to their image and allows them to upcharge their guns.
      • We have proof of them doing this outside US markets—Amano Gonclaves, VP of global defense sales, upcharged regular P320s to the tune of $1600$ to Indonesian government buyers. They claimed that these guns were specially made to higher standards than normal civilian P320s, but this later turned out to be false after a search warrant by the DoD inspector general.
  • Short segment on the design similarities between the P320 and the P250. notably why it doesn't have a trigger safety (despite clear intentions to add one as shown in a promo)
  • Another short bit on the Sig and Steyr lawsuit regarding the chassis system. The case ended up in favor of Sig pretty much because of a removable pin on Sig's design. This is a pretty common occurrence when it comes to patent infringement, but the video notes how similar the disassembly between the Steyr M9 and a P320 look to the layman.
  • CEO Ron (((Cohen))) has also admitted to, and then given a fully suspended 18-month prison sentence as well as a 675,000 dollar fine from, illegally selling guns under German export laws to Colombia, due to illegally covering up the shipment's destination according to the video.
  • as for why these guns might be going off on their own, the video suggests this is due to sig's poor quality control of their MIM'd, or metal injection molded parts. Specifically it does not do sharp edges & thin walls well, the former being the metal slurry not being able to get into the crevaces well, and the latter due to density variation. Consider that the sear needs to be long and thin and that the striker stop itself requires sharp edges to engage the striker properly.
    • in Jinn vs. Sig Sauer, the star witness specifically highlighted this, claiming that there was seemingly no consistency between these parts of 4 different P320s and that these MIM'd parts were finished to a looser tolerance, thus, quote, "preventing full engagement of the sear and striker overlaps." he states that, due excess material on the striker foot, and the rounded edge on the stop wall, that the striker could "walk over" the sear and that the safety could "jump over" the stop wall. he also notes that the striker is not centered on the sear, further reducing contact and causing misalignment between the striker foot and sear.
      • he suggests that the poor contact between these components and the minimal movement needed to disengage the safety, combined with the of a safety return spring (specifically on older designs) could allow the safety to rotate out of position due to gravity when the gun is turned vertically (like in a holster) and/or exposure to shock/vibrations, allowing the striker to move forward, causing an accidental discharge.
    • Another witness came to similar conclusions about this, stating that the gun could theoretically go off due to expected movements & vibrations while in the holster given the defects in the gun.
  • The video also discusses the Robert Lang case, in which the plaintiff claimed the gun went off after it was fully seated in the holster. Lang has been awarded 2.3M dollars in damages, but the video notes that the trajectory of the bullet does not match what was claimed.
    • The expert witness of SIG Sauer also noted that the holster had zero retention. BUT—and this is where things get extremely suspicious— when questioned, the expert witness admitted that during their testing, the retention screws were at some point messed with during the examination. :lossmanjack:
  • The end notes that Sig, to this day, claims that all of their P320s are still completely safe, even though I think a lot of people believe (justifiably) otherwise. He also believes that it is within the best interest of Sig Sauer and the wider 2A community to perform a recall.
  • he also says that he also plans to do a part two sometime down the line.

that's pretty much it. Talk about a bombshell video. Some of this I'm sure you guys know but if you need to direct anyone who's curious, this is a very comprehensive video on all the legal shenanigans sig sauer has been up to the past decade as well as the general design issues with the P320.

TL;DR: oy vey! shut it down!

C&Rsenal(@Othais) is doing a t-shirt campaign again

I kinda like the Gunpla shirt, not gonna lie

My simpbux are running dangerously low, I bought kiwimerch earlier this month, just bought sven's comic books because of today's MATI, and now the only good living guntuber worthy of donating to is launching their campaign?!
My wife picked the moosemilk shirt, even though she despises the smell of ballistol and never once shot a black powder gun. I picked the Somme Skeet Club because the 1895 is the best shotgun and it is kino.
If you don't care about old guns, I get it, but I still recommend supporting them anyways, they are demonitized nearly as bad as kiwifarms even though they only do a simple impartial documentary series.
@Othais I have a humble suggestion, next t-shirt run have a hi-vis yellow shirt with a fake-gun related company logo. I've noticed a lot of guys love wearing their old job's hi-vis shirts as a fashion statement.

Do we have any information on this guy? He's entertaining and informative and doesn't seem to be cutting China any slack when describing how dysfunctional their army was, but he speaks Chinese and has mentioned he's a professor so I'm wondering what's the catch,
In the first minute of this lecture, he gives a brief overview of his academic history and career in China: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnpCwbT7-kM

He is employed in teaching comparative religion courses on East Asian religions and philosophy at California State University Chico: https://www.csuchico.edu/hfa/about/people/corh/faculty/jason-clower.shtml

His students seem to like him:

If you guys want to know if Brynn is a tranny for sure or not someone's going to have to look into it more. She lives somewhere around Vancouver WA. Probably Longview. The source for that is a couple of pictures of hers have locations from there in them and the fact I've seen her in person there.

She goes to the Clark county gun range. She doesn't appear to own a home for the little I've looked into it. But the areial photography is good in the area for anyone autistic enough to find her back deck from pictures.

He drops number of personal anecdotes about his background, interspersed throughout the lecture at the link. I put it in chronological order:
  • He is originally from Ohio, and was an athlete in school.
  • He spent all of the 1990s in China as a student, and some of that time was in the shittier parts of Beijing.
  • He spent so much effort to acquire Chinese language fluency and assimilate into the culture because at the time, he thought he was going to permanently live and work in China.
  • In the early 1990s, he almost died from severe food poisoning after eating some bad mutton and refusing to go to the hospital due to a major HIV contamination outbreak in the Chinese hospitals at the time. But he made a sudden recovery through Chinese traditional medicine massage treatment administered by a local friend, and this near death experience has made him favorable to Chinese traditional medicine like acupuncture and massage therapy, even though the analytical part of his mind cannot fully explain or rationalize it.
  • He came back to the US after being disillusioned by prospects in China
  • He eventually moved from Ohio to Northern California to accept the teaching position at California State University Chico
  • He did not live in California before this, and he was surprised at how liberal and hippy the local culture is in NorCal and how the stereotypes of NorCal culture and people are true
  • He has (had?) an ancient dog that he would bring to all his lectures and that became well known among all his students.
And some insights gleaned from the student reviews on RateMyProfessor:
  • Even though most of his classes are ostensibly on the subject of traditional East Asian religions and philosophies, it seems that one of his main research focus and personal interest is on Chinese communism as a secular substitute for state religion, and this bleeds over into his lectures to the chagrin of students just looking for the traditional stuff
  • He is the cool professor who has engaging lectures, fair grading, minimal homework, writes tests that are easy to study for, and doesn't care about attendance. You know the type - the professor whose courses you take for fun/personal interest and to get an easy A in the process.
He has a wild photo on his department profile and should keep rocking the PLA hats
