Maybe they will eventually do that, but I think it's not a huge priority because the Vickers Guide of WW2 German firearms is pretty thorough, recent, and Ian actually took part in writing those books:

Either
1. they absolutely do not want to touch the unerring autism that is the German-related collector's market,
2. they're saving it for the inevitable drop in sales/popularity.

Both of these answers are acceptable tbqh

You guys said “AK community” three times in a row, and that was enough to make m26lemonparty return to YouTube with his terrible take on the Meridian 103 and the American AK market.

Literally who?
I remember when AKs were as cheap as pump action shotguns, and 5.45 was so cheap that people were converting AR15s to shoot it. They were the ultimate poorfag/ high volume shooter guns.

That is all ancient history now and the current AK community is nothing but cringe hipsters.
Not just cringe hipsters but also pseudo-boomers who got in when it was cheap and are now clinging onto the idea that they aren't behind the times like a drowning man clings to driftwood.
Null later got involved for someone bullying Lidl Drip for doing a victory lap.
Who was picking on Null's E-girl crush? Don't they know that's a death sentence?
Theyre gonna do every little pissant ww2 country and just completely ignore Germany lmao
Yeah but who hasn't done Germany at this point? I think it's both far more on brand for Forgotten Weapons to do smaller, lesser covered, countries than to just do Germany. I think it also adds far more to the historical context to have more information that maybe wasn't known or as widely available before.

They just love their forced labor built AKs that much
A point in their favor, a genuine slave labor AK is manufactured with the same tradition and feeling as homemade bread baked fresh in the morning by babushka. What's the point of the AK, really, if not for the vibe?

What's the point of the AK, really, if not for the vibe?
At this day and age, nothing else really. It's not as good as pretty much any AR-15/18 variant, it's not a cheap gun anymore, and the ammo isn't that cheap anymore either. If you are getting an AK, you are getting it because you like the idea of shooting an AK, not because it makes any practical sense. Which is of course, totally fine. Getting guns for fun is as good of a reason as any.

That's where you're wrong, bucko. Guns are always SUPER SERIOUS and you need to spend thousands on guns that you will use for either SUPER SERIOUS 3-Gun comps or for home defense. "Fun" isn't allowed in the shooting community. Now watch my 45 minute video on how to clear your house in the middle of the night when your wife's boyfriend makes too much noise leaving, brought to you by SDI and AAC.

You forgot the "you can't spend money on fun guns because some guy with a clapped out PSA and 10000000 rounds of ammo will kill you first" meme that's incredibly common amongst the coping poorfags of reddit.

I’m in the group that takes guns seriously. I don’t care about collecting or the supposed latest and greatest gear though.

I’m happy to shoot a plain Glock and AR15 and nothing else. I only really enjoy competitive shooting and practicing to improve my skills.

And not only has the AK become expensive but the average build quality of an AK remains poor.
They've probably gotten worse. Nobody seems to have actually bothered to check how to make an AK before the current boom of American AKs. They also have the G3 problem where they are only cheap if you make huge volume because initial setup cost is very high, but then your added cost per unit is minimal.

The AKs are designed to be made with large pools of unskilled and semi skilled labor and 2 or 3 craftsmen at crucial steps, they don't adopt to the modern small shop CNC mill world that well.

There's space for everyone, I guess. Some people enjoy shooting rustbuckets or (god forbid) black powder guns, others enjoy going after the optimal setup. Having met a good number of competitive shooting types, I admire their skills but I find the gun selection incredibly boring. How many kitted 2011s can you see before they all become a blur, but I respect their dedication.

I'll sadly never get the American AK market though: in Yurop we have a wide variety from chinks to polish to bulgarian stuff, and before the SMO even Russian production, plus the endless amount of "de-militarized" WarPact surplus. The loopholes and weirdness of the American AK market is difficult to understand. Pity that the ammo prices for both 7,62 and 5,45 went completely out of control.

Yeah but who hasn't done Germany at this point?

I'm on the opposite side: I find Headstamp Publishing selection baffling. Do you know what we need? An updated book on the FG42, for example (1990's Death From Above is outdated). Do you know what we don't need? More meme books on "collecting lead miniatures" or James Bond guns. I know it's fairly harsh to say, but the only reason Ian throws out meme vanity projects is because there's a good chunk of his audience that will buy the books without even checking the content or reading them, just for the parasocial interaction angle.

The third answer is that Ian was obsessed with France when he wrote Chassepot to FAMAS and is currently obsessed with Finland thanks to him hanging out with the Varusteleka crew. Expect a Slovenian book next because of his friendship with Polenar Tactical.

He looks like Mike Stoklasa, but a retarded version of him. And I'm not even a fan of Red Letter Media:

There was a China book in there, he didnt seem too obsessed with China when he wrote that.

He did post a lot about chink mystery meat pistols in the lead up to it. Idk if they were better categorized as obsession or promotion but he did talk about them a while.

Seems to me like headstamp publishes whatever books Ian/people he knows happen to be writing, rather than plan out anything.

He tries to downplay the images by saying it isn't anything worse than you would see on The Boys on Amazon Prime, and ends by saying he doesn't want to downplay it.
I'm way late on the Lucas Botkins drama, but:

The Boys famously features a scene where some Ant Man type capeshit is walking around inside a guy's dick.

Extrapolating from this: what is the over-under chance that the image in question was the infamous Sandy Cheeks cock vore meme?

Pretty much sums it up. Books in which Ian has been the main author so far:

- French firearms
- Finnish firearms
- Chinese "warlord pistols"
- WW2 Soviet firearms
- WW2 US firearms
- NATO battle rifles

So that includes both novelty and subjects specifically close to Ian's heart (France, Finland, the obscure Chinese pistols), but also books that could very well be of more interest to the larger audience. And like his video production, his stuff is pretty large in scope and more of an overview of a subject. Look at some of the other Headstamp books by other authors:

- Chinese Mausers
- British bullpups
- Hungarian AKs
- James Bond pistols

etc.
