I'd even settle for a paperback that was like half the price.

I've thought about that myself. I donated to the Kickstarter for one of the signed copies of Chasepot to Famas (I was very excited about that book), and I've picked up a couple of the others, but I'd be more inclined to buy books on subjects I'm somewhat less interested in if they weren't $100+ a piece.

I get not wanting to do a ebook version, but not doing an affordable paperback edition seems short sighted to me.

I am sure future historians in like 2040 will love Ian when they will want to use one of his whooping 50k print run books for research that by that point will be worth 500-1000 usd.

Trench has new opinions about AR barrel lengths. He likes 12.5s now, despite ranking them nuclear waste trash tier a month ago. I think calling Trench a flip flopper would be an insult to flip floppers, cause at least they're trying to chase trends and public opinion. Trench just says shit first and thinks about it eventually.

He's even getting called out by his own herd of retards, even if some are coping still.

Not a whole lot for the video itself, he starts by saying he's going to offend people by saying 16" isn't the ideal AR barrel length for general use. Which is weird cause I don't think anyone is emotionally invested in 16" barrels, not saying people don't get emotionally invested in dumb shit like barrel length, just not 16" barrels. The rest of the video can be summed up as "yeah I know I said these sucked like a month ago but I hadn't actually shot one personally when I said that, and now that I have shot one I've discovered I really like it", It's mind boggling people take him seriously.

Naw this is very typical across all gun people, he's just very slow about it. Thing sucks until you try it then it's perfectly adequate the best thing ever before next thing comes around, even AssFags isn't immune to this vicious cycle. It helps that the added engagement from comments calling it out helps his reach.

If the guy were any more of a waffler I'd swear he were Belgian.

I was wondering why the shills started salivating over a random company I had never heard of. Behold the newest overpriced billet AR abomination.

Combining Mustang Armament's proprietary cold hammer forged barrel, premium duty-grade components, and combat-proven accessories, this rifle is engineered to perform when failure is not an option.

Duty Grade. Suppressor Optimized. Combat Ready. Built Without Compromise.
The gimmick with these things is that theyre like prebuilt gaming PCs, all the accessories are pre-installed and sights/lasers zeroed. Perfect for someone who can't be bothered to turn an allan key much less shoot their expensive rifle. Like a prebuilt PC they cheap out on most of the accessories with the exception of shit like railscales and the freshest Instagram operator handstops. The cheapest models come in at $3k(complete with <$150 sig red dots), up to $6k for the rifle-suppressor combo.

overpriced billet AR abomination.
Man I just do not get these expensive ARs. The gun is made to be a cheap disposable military rifle. for 4,500 you could a bolt gun hand build by a master smith with premium wood and engraving. you could get a Alchemy, Novak or Wilson 1911. you could get to base model Colt single action army revolvers. you could get a custom lever gun. a custom sharps.

why on earth would you waste money on an AR. PSA, S&W etc are just as good.

PSA, S&W etc are just as good.
They aren't "just as good," but they are good enough for most people. That's a pretty big difference. If I was a cop I wouldn't trust a PSA or even S&W. I'd trust a Geissele or a Sionics or (any number of reputable brands) because the price you pay comes with reliability. I wouldn't trust these guys out of the gate without knowing how good their QC, reliability, and attention to detail are, and that price seems ludicrous. BUT even still you can't say that PSA (which is not necessarily a bad brand for what it is) is "just as good" as those rifles just like how you can't say a cheapo Turkish 1911 is "just as good" as one built by Joe Chambers or Alchemy.

At a certain point all you're doing is paying for a roll mark on your receiver.

Yes there are certain things you need to spend the money on to get maximum quality or capability, but ar receivers aren't one of them.

A gun with that barrel, trigger, bolt, and maybe charging handle would be reasonable at like 1800 or so. Most of the shit is superfluous or not very good.
The buffer setup for example isn't. I got a similar thing and returned it because although it didn't sound the same as a normal spring it would get bolt bounce depending which upper it was with because there was no dead blow effect.
The buffer may have a place in competition but really the rest of the stuff has no place in anything as it's not good at anything and is a solution in search of a problem.
For that much money I'd expect the list to be twice as long and have actual cool shit like crazy alloys/metals and have a cool overall gimmick, and not like $300 in an optics combo

Oh, but that's where you're wrong! This bad boy is made of Bronze Damascus Betsy Ross billet - is it aluminum, is it bronze, who cares?

Check out that subtle aluminum-bronze color, the tasteful curviness of those lines.
Oh my God, it even has a massive rollmark! On both sides!

1785732212208.png

All in all it's not a bad looking paintjob (I struggle to believe that it is anything other than cerakote on an aluminum receiver). Nowhere near worth 4.5k for that though.

Yeah for a second I thought it was actually bronze sorta like whoever does those Damascus 1911s with like meteorite or fossil or turquoise grips but figured it was just some goyslop cerakote bullshit.
It'd be cool to have a bronze receiver set but it'd probably end up being 50oz, triple that of a beefy billet receiver set.
I still wouldn't as well as couldn't buy it, but it'd be cooler and more understandable if it were instead all titanium for the receivers or any other part that stood to be made from it.
Realistically Q guns fit all my desires except the zamak gas tubes but I still can't bring myself to shell out for one.
It's really all useless and silly though as for 1K you can build an extremely good rifle if you prioritize parts that matter and don't get dumb shit or fancier parts that don't matter. At least Q has cool materials and weight on their side even if you're paying $800 per pound of gun you're not getting.

They're asking almost HK/KAC money for a non-ambi billet lower set. On top of that, they're trying to cheat off of the WWSD rifle with that JP buffer system, if they actually knew they probably could have used an A5 buffer system which would should have even less felt recoil and actually be user adjustable if they have gassing issues with the can this is clearly supposed to be used with as it's a 11.5" with a mid gas system.

I get that the PWS ratcheting castle nut is nice, but you can just stake that shit from the factory and not have to worry, it's an aftermarket solution for an end user problem.

I can appreciate that they actually put a rearden/plan-b brake on there, though they went with a pretty cheap model.

The whole choice of a $100-120 weapon light when compared to about 1k of optic/magnifier just feels strange. It's not that the streamlight is bad, but this feels like someone finally figured out that they have a target market and budget they kind of need to hit. That and not getting an arisaka mount or something nicer for the tapeswitch feels odd considering they spent the extra cash for aftermarket pins and a titanium safety.

This just really feels like a gun you get your audience to buy or have some streamer with fuck you money that wants a wall ornament. Not that it's a garbage rod or anything, there's just a lot of that budget caught up in the wrong stuff.
