I mean, i get the idea behind going the hardcore weight reduction route for a race gun, because reciprocating weight and all, or deeper serrations than what you get stock because you live in a cold area and have to wear thick gloves when shooting, but these esoteric little holes are only going to make the internals dirtier than they have to be without adding anything of value. That perfectly describes those awful riced out pistols you see these days, it's exactly like horrible Gamer™ mice and peripherals, where there's sharp angles, lights, and 'speedholes' inexplicably placed all over them, because a 13 year old will think that it's really cool.
Indeed quite Gamer-y. At this point, i would not be surprised if we eventually see some RGB-LED frame kits to light up the speed holes from inside the gun. But i guess this is the flip-side of the "everyone and their granny is getting a firearm these days" coin. Brings in the kind of people that want their guns to look like their gaming rigs. (or handbags i guess lol)
I've read some horror stories about Chinese steel, I read a post on /pol/ years ago from a guy who worked with companies that bought steel in bulk and his one piece of advice was to never ever buy from China.
