People make weekly "Help, my safety detent is too weak" or "Help, my safety wont move" posts. These are the only type of posts you don't see Russell in the comments for obvious legal reasons

I also see posts about the safety being basically permanent once installed unless you grind a ramp in it with a dremel.

PL a little bit here but I actually bought one of the GWACS CAV Arms Gen 2 lowers years ago. Based on my experience with that piece of shit I wouldn't be surprised if the lower itself just has inconsistent casting and poor QC.

My GWACS lower, (which is the direct predecessor to the WWSD lower) cannot take drop in trigger groups because the pin holes are ever so slightly too far apart and there's a weird rounded "lip" at the very front of the cavity which the casing for the trigger group will ride up on, two piece triggers work fine, but they're always gritty because of the aforementioned pin holes being in slightly wrong locations. No upper receiver will fit properly because the holes for the pivot and disassembly pins are: A) both too far forward, B) too far apart from one another. I can force them together and ram the pins in but it literally requires a punch to get them out, also they're not captive pins so watch out for that. Once you do get the upper on there's a noticeable gap between the upper and lower along the entire length of the two mating surfaces, the only thing that does work properly is the mag release because the safety is stiff do to the detent spring hole being slightly too shallow.

Lastly, and this is more a personal gripe than anything else, they gave me an A1/A2 style stock, right? Great! I'm one of those weirdos that actually really likes the old school triangular fixed stocks for more than just aesthetic reasons. But then they fucked even that up by putting a solid buttplate on it that's held on with two phillips head screws and doesn't have a trapdoor of storage compartment.

TL;DR: The lower that the WWSD is based on is a piece of shit with poor QC including shit just being made wrong, and I doubt this is actually Brownell's fault.

For as much as those things cost, as a customer I'd expect someone to at least finish the fucking thing, rather than slap them together & out the door. That's Century-tier shitsmanship.

Karl isn't the only one involved here, there's also Ian and second Carl. I really don't know how much involvement Ian has had with the project beyond the """"prototyping"""" and marketing, but Left-Handed Fatty is the one who actually owns the company and tooling making these recievers, he was also the guy behind the CAV Arms and GWACS clusterfucks. So hopefully Karl & Carl both end up eating shit for this, I don't know how much ill I wish upon Ian honestly, but he is at least a little culpable as well.

All signs and a legal debacle pointing towards the KE Arms lower possibly being a complete ripoff aside, Brownell's will be faced with a lot of complaints due to the issues stemming from Russel's leopard-spotted QC.
Which seems to be well deserved if his response is "just stretch your spring faggot" while he files away at flashing, by hand, on each and every lower as it comes out of the mold.

All this trouble to make a lower that's 5-6 ounces lighter than an aluminum lower with traditional stock, buffer, tube.

Man, I really dodged a bullet not getting a WWSD after all. I'll just use a normal AR and not worry about carrying 1 extra pound. Maybe these twiggy soyboys should hit the gym by which I mean a single set of 10lb dumbbells with a minimum amount of effort if holding a normal AR is too hard for them.

Man, I really dodged a bullet not getting a WWSD after all.

The first one was a relatively good idea and setup. This one was powered by marketing hype following two massive disasters(Hudson H9, HMG Sturmgewehr) pushed by the same exact people.
Maybe Russell had a good thing going, maybe Karl is just so cursed that everything he takes part in just dies out of shame from the association.

It still has the atrociously halfassed nub where the forward assist is, you have a basic bitch buffer assembly rather than the captive spring, an aluminum handguard that will burn the shit out of you, an awkward ambi safety, the bolt and carrier are nitrided instead of chromed* and the KE Arms DMR trigger for which nobody has any real frame of reference.
So yes, citizen, you too can own a severely gimped match gun for about $450 less than the original. Also you don't get BUIS or optics with it because fuck you.

As if there were few reasons as to buy a WWSD, they come up with an even more gimped one to try and get suckers to buy to save the design.

I haven't really followed it, have they ever explained the reason for the nub, is it maybe for brass deflection?

Also like many people, I had the need to forward assist during a load, drilled into me. The idea of not being able to do that with a rifle, doesn't seem right to me. Partcularly as how removing it doesn't really seem to contribute much to the ergonomics.

Also It's already a light weight rifle, what happens if someone needs to drag it around for a couple of months, and not just leave it well oiled in a rack, only taking it out to go to the range. Maybe a forward assist might add a degree of confidence/reliability.
