ok, this is epic

I have no idea what that is
Audition is Adobe's audio program. It used to be known as Cool Edit Pro before Adobe bought it.

audacity is for nerds who are too pussy to just pirate audition 1.5
I would use audition. if it worked in wine. Reaper is pretty good and has native ports all 3 major os'.

Audacity kind of sucks for things like EQ. At least with CEP and Audition, you can do it live while the track is playing and see how the changes in EQ work in real time. Neither Reaper nor Audacity have that.

What's up with usage statistics anyway?
Has this ever had any practical use at all and improved anything?

At best someone feeds it to a program to make a pretty graph out of it.
Yes, you need pretty graphs to keep clueless business types from fucking your software into the dirt. If an uppity bean counter starts chimping about the money it costs to support XYZ, you need to show them a pretty graph that justifies XYZ in a language they understand. If you don't then they'll start slashing critical features while their fellow retards congratulate them for their business acumen.

Lovely, another program that wants to waste my computer's resources to collect objectively useless marketing data.

I wonder what the energy expediture on this crap looks like if taken as a lump sum on any given day. I bet you could power a small country with the extra electricity that telemetry and data harvesting software uses on everyone's computers, if not a large country. Big Tech is environmentalist my ass.

right now it's relatively small change. but if left unchecked it WILL grow and infect all parts of the system. and distro maintainers will have the responsibility of patching it out which is annoying.
They should probably just take it out of the source. At least they should put a build flag to excluded it.

Should I be concerned? I hardly use audacity as it is and it seems like only new versions will have it. Just don't update.
If you're on Linux it'll probably be a case of each distro choosing whether to distribute a build with or without telemetry.

It's also fine to just not update. It's not like they're including groundbreaking new features or anything.
