Thanks for the recommendations. I went with a G502 wired mouse in the end, and I'm really liking it. I did occasionally hit the DPI up/down buttons by accident, but I'm getting used to it and not hitting them as much.

Bind them to something useful or unbind them so they do nothing.

I think all laptops should have a TrackPoint, like the ThinkPad. It is the perfect compromise between a trackpad and a mouse. You don't need to swing your finger around the place to move the cursor across the screen, and you can use it while wearing gloves. And it feels really natural to use it, at least on older ThinkPads, where the design made sense.

Best part was that the caps were removable so if it got grotty you just buy a four-pack of replacements for 50 cents.

I wish modern Lenovo wasn't garbage. I miss my indestructable brick laptops with dual batteries.

Sorry for the necro but i think (i hope) this is the thread for it, i was given a bunch of USB memory sticks but my tablet only accept microsd cards, is there any peripherals that allowsuck a tablet to read USB memory sticks?

i mean, there are male micro/mini usb to female usb dongles out there that might work if your tablet has one of those, but i dont know if those will work with usb flashdrives

My mouse is a Logitech G402. Its nice. I like have the DPI options on the mouse. I think you can use an app in windows to change the DPI levels but I don't think one exists on Linux. I did use a Logitech G19 keyboard for a while. Its nice. I found it thrifting for $5, practically brand new and unused. A fucking steal, especially since ebay has a few listed right now at $100+. It still works, but I use a generic Dell one now. I just didn't like turning off the screen all the time and the lights on the keyboard itself bothered me.

Search for USB On The Go adapters, either MicroUSB or USB-C depending on however yours charges.

I'm thinking of buying a Microsoft Sculpt mouse because of the touch strip, but I'm not clear on what that allows you to do and how it can be configured, is there anyone with one that can enlighten me? Googling it is so incredibly heavy on links to buying it and the information on Microsofts site is shit. ("press it to bring up the start menu!" that just sounds annoying)

I found the fucking ugliest peripheral I have ever seen today, and it was on sale for five bucks.
Also it had a mouse and headset that aren't as ugly but bless them, they're trying.



The box does not do it justice, it is absolutely hideous and goes off like a disco ball exploded.

Strangest thing once happened to me - I got such a fugly keyboard from amazon. Thing is, I never ordered it. Since I'm not obliged by law to give things back that are sent to me out of the blue, I sold it on ebay. I never figured out if it was an attempt at some weird scam or a honest mistake but I made a few bucks. Thanks for reading my story.

Although I seem to be experiencing some double click issue on the right mouse button, and I remember having it on the left click also, but now the left click works fine.

This is an astonishingly common issue with the G502 HERO mice and affects my work one too. The double click issues are mostly fixable with some percussive maintenance, the monkeys on reddit told me to do the following:

1. Shake the mouse repeatedly
2. Bang the mouse on your hand a few times
3. Click the mouse harder than usual
4. Repeat until issue goes away.

Use https://codepen.io/blink172/pen/vERyxK to test your mouse. I went from near constant double left clicks to maybe 1 in 1000 clicks being affected with this One Weird Trick

Yeah ever since that post I just sent my mouse to a warranty repair almost by the end of it and they just replaced both switches and so far the problem hasn't reoccurred. Next time I'm just learning how to solder and I'm gonna do it myself.

My take is 1440p for 26">= screens @ 120-144Hz for the premium gaming experience. I play on a 24.5" @ 144Hz 1080p, I picked a smaller sized screen because I built an sffpc setup for ease of transport. But yeah 4k is a meme, 1080p is ok for screen with a size below 26".
Then there's the screen panel type (IPS, TN, VA debate EXCLUDING CRT), but that's another can of worm...



Beside that I'd like to shill Keychron keyboards, they're very good build quality if you're looking for a nice mechanical keyboard. They're very sturdy and you can buy spare keys/switches to replace in case one stops working properly.

I'm using the Keychron K3 (low profile) since 2020 and I will personally attest that it is an excellent keyboard, very light and easy to carry around, can be wireless or USB-C wired. You can very easily replace sticky/used/broken keys if you buy some spare parts. I had a couple of accidental fluid spillage that ruined some keys, took 10 minutes to replace them and I resumed what I was doing as if nothing happened.

Compact, light, sturdy, backlit, easy maintenance, replaceable keys/switches/cable, typing feedback is nice, no frame deformation, no software and no gimmick features. I give it a 8.5/10, it's not a 10 because the keys are ABS, if it was PBT it would be a 9.5.

Got ahold of a keyboard with a smart card reader. Finding the drivers was a right PITA but now with some free software I can read data from chip cards. I'm wondering if it can also WRITE data, or does that require specialized equipment?

I've been using an 8bitdo Pro 2 as my general gaming controller for a bit, but the damn thing is drifting. I really like that this controller has a toggle between different modes (xinput,switch,etc). I was hoping their 'ultimate controller' with the hall effect sticks would be good but the reviews don't paint a pretty picture.

Any recommendations on a controller with good sticks and gyro?
