So shit seems to be getting recalled more and more these days, expecially food. The big one being the JIF peanut Butter fiasco

So I figured this would be a thread to keep track of everything that's being recalled, at least when it comes to food.

Here are a few examples:

FreshKampo strawberries recalled from store shelves linked to hepatitis outbreak

Strawberries branded as FreshKampo and HEB have been recalled by the Federal Drug Administration following a link to hepatitis A, officials say.

The FDA, along with CDC, the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, state, and local partners are investigating a multistate outbreak of hepatitis A infections in the United States and Canada potentially linked to fresh organic strawberries branded as FreshKampo and HEB, purchased between March 5, 2022, and April 25, 2022, according to the FDA.

Officials say potentially affected FreshKampo and HEB products are past their shelf life.

People who purchased FreshKampo and HEB fresh organic strawberries between March 5, 2022, and April 25, 2022, and then froze the strawberries for later consumption should not eat them.

These products were sold at the following retailers, including, but not limited to:
Aldi
HEB
Kroger
Safeway
Sprouts Farmers Market
Trader Joe’s
Walmart
Weis Markets
WinCo Foods

why would we need to track them when the FDA is already doing it tho?

why would we need to track them when the FDA is already doing it tho?
1. So that it doesn't clutter the A&N section since shit seems to be recalled on an almost daily basis

2. It's to keep people informed on here that might buy these products that aren't aware about the recalls

Maybe "tracking" is the wrong term for it.

Isn't this normal though? I'm not American but over here the health authorities announce recalls pretty frequently. Especially with mundane shit like undeclared allergens.

The best place to see recall notices is at your grocery store—they'll typically tell you whether the affected lots were sold at that store. If you just look at all recall notices, you'll find it's hardly ever relevant to you, and then you will probably stop caring.

is it worth mentioning that food recalls are only half the fight and the CPSC also lists recalls and shit on things you can't necessarily eat?

Israel had a massive recall of Elite products about a month ago. Elite makes a ton of chocolates and the first days after the recall you had massive amount of empty shelves in the sweets sections. By now it's filled with tons of knock offs from other countries with no return in sight, so of course I wonder if it was a case of fucking around with a local manufacturer to get a stranglehold by globohomo products.

I'm missing some of their products since they made some good late afternoon snacks.

Should I actually care about that JIF recall? Are they overly cautious with this shit or am I likely to get sick from it?

I mix it into hot oatmeal if that makes a difference. Maybe salmonella can't handle the heat is what I'm thinking. If I die from salmonella bury me with my unopened peanut butter jars.
