Honestly any cheaper set from a major brand. Don't overthink it. Affordable but reliable. I've got Nordica Navigator 85s. They're a beginner ski by most accounts, but I throw those things around on double blacks and off piste all the time. What's a good "intro skiing" ski? Definitely get some lessons. First of all, they're fun. They will drastically improve your ability even if you just do a day or two.
are you going with a group?I do! I can already ski greens and blues
Where I am it's better time wise to own then rent. I'm looking for the "Toyota Corolla" of skis. Nothing fancy. just something if the boys or gf goes "I wana skiii" I'm not doing any fancy tricks or anything just going up and down the slope while I listen to a podcast. I have cross country skis and snow shoes for other stuff.i always got good deals on ski stuff online buying last years old stock a bit before season started, but that's more like buying 1000$skis for 300$ so hard to call them cheep.
if you are only going for a few days its probably cheaper to rent but get the demos. i always hatted how floppy the cheep rental skis where, i like something a bit stiffer, always scared the shit out of me when i was flying down a slope and the skis where just vibrating like hell.
if you get your own i would think about the weight alot, mine weigh too much and i always wish i went with a lighter binding and ski, as sometimes you have to carry them forever to get to the mountain where i ski, and if you wanted to hit any trails that required you to hike up a bit.
i would go to a place that sells boots and make sure they fit you good, a boot that does not fit just right can make the day suck.

The prices on that site are so ridiculous that I just bought a pair of Rossignols. I'll let you know how they are.take your pick.
i think the first ones are kids but there are a few options.
You guys are pretty much all natural snow out there aren't you? That's similar out west, but in the Northeast US all we need to be is like under 30 degrees F to pump out snow. This year ski season is bleak. The planned vacation has been put on hold due to still ongoing family issues and low amount of snow in the Alps. Hopefully I'll manage to get at least one vacation in.
I'm East coast, so generally somewhere in Vermont. Weather permitting, Upstate NY is nice too. Love Plattekill.Had a blast spring skiing in the rockies this past weekI really like spring skiing- slushy butter, nice days, no lift lines, roads clear. Vail closes April 20th so there's still time to get in some runs
What are your fave USA (or otherwise) resorts to take beginners to?
I've been thinking about checking out the east coast resorts, which is your fave? I have an epic pass. Love VT, would love to go back.I'm East coast, so generally somewhere in Vermont. Weather permitting, Upstate NY is nice too. Love Plattekill.
This season broke my heart. We were on track to ski until June. Then March got warm for a week and a half and it was all over.
With the epic pass my favorite in Vermont is Stowe. I also enjoy Okemo. Mt Snow isn't bad either, but it's a distant 3rd. Both Okemo and Stowe have nice towns and amenities too.I've been thinking about checking out the east coast resorts, which is your fave? I have an epic pass. Love VT, would love to go back.
I might try snowboarding this year, get a lesson n such. Anyone here try or do both snow sports? Which do you prefer why or why not? I've only ever skiied, the booting up turns me off, but I am still curious!
